Cottage on corner site, elevated and waterfront, just a wee walk to beach. A further stroll into the village to check out the Museum, one of the Art and Craft shops, have a meal or a drink at one of the Cafes, Bars or Clubs. Maybe a spot of surfcasting off the wharf, harbour or ocean side? Or you may prefer to join a Fishing Charter Trip? Choice of walks, past boat ramp, lagoon out to harbour entrance and ocean beach or maybe along the walkway at Aotea beach, the adjoining harbour? Check out the ancient pohutukawas which are closeby, or the resting site of the Tainui canoe. Enjoy a step back in time, life at a slower pace than what you are used to. Relax on the couch, read a book, lay on the beach. Dig a hole at low tide and soak in the Te Puia Hot springs, especially good on a fine day watching a magnificent sunset. You may choose to venture further afield and take a trip north to Raglan via the scenic coast road (some gravel) with a short detour to view the spectacular Bridal Veil Falls. A drive south around the harbour will take you to Te Waitere, Marakopa and beyond to Kiritihere where you may find a fossil or two. While in the area check out Piripiri Caves, Natural Bridge and another waterfall. Otorohanga Kiwi and Native Bird House is a 55km drive away, with Waitomo Caves, Blackwater rafting a little further down the road. Bring your four wheeler or four wheel drive and drive out to ocean beach at low tide, taking care to stay below high tide mark so as not to disturb the nesting dotterels.
