The SpaceWe have a large home with separate living spaces on 1.5 private acres in famous Kona Coffee Country. This room is one of 3 bedrooms in a private cottage. It has its own private bathroom and shares a really relaxing sunroom with guests in the room next door (if there are any guests at the time). This room has a very cozy and relaxing vibe. The main window looks out to the beautiful tropical garden. Bamboo trees, palm trees and flowers. PLEASE NOTE: ~*~*~*~We are in nature.~*~*~*~ There are wild chickens, an occasional rooster (rarely near the home) and singing tree frogs on the rainy nights. Birds salute the sunrise in a beautiful orchestra. We have 3 dogs that live in an enclosed courtyard. They are really well behaved but they could occasionally bark. Usually if a car pulls up or if there are wild pigs in the area. It's super rare they bark at night. And in the rare case they do, we are up immediately and bring them in the house. (This is usually if a pig has entered the yard!) There is a spacious, screened in sunroom that is shared with guests staying in the room next door to you. The sunroom has 2 semi private designated sitting areas with coffee tables. There is a shared apartment size fridge, a hot plate, coffee pot & convection oven. Step outside the sunroom onto the outdoor lanai (deck) where you can enjoy a meal, a board game or just relax and take in the ocean and tropical views. Stargaze and relax to the light of flickering tiki torches off your lanai. We have high speed wifi available via two networks (cable and phone) so your can connect to the outside world. Guest AccessGuests have access to the adjacent sun room. This sun room has a really nice view of the pacific ocean and tropical jungle. Banana trees, large birds of paradise, heliconia, Lilikoi, plumeria and more. The sun room has a coffee maker, small refrigerator, toaster, microwave and induction hot plate for simple cooking. It's easy to enjoy fruit breakfasts, toast, cereal, oatmeal, eggs, rice, etc. Just outside the screened in sunroom is a cozy outdoor deck. This has a table with 4 chairs and is a great spot for breakfast, tea, dinner or even yoga overlooking the ocean. This room also has access to a nice "Mauka" (facing the mountain) lanai (back deck). This area has a teak patio table with chairs and umbrella, a BBQ grill and sink for washing dishes, cups, etc. Interaction with GuestsIn addition to our vacation home business, we own and run a small bakery and cafe in downtown Kona, we attend the gym several evenings a week and also attend our daughters canoe paddling practices and races. So yes, we're a super busy family and rarely home. Currently our vacation home is set up for the self sufficient traveler. Of course we are available via text or the Airbnb message thread to answer any questions or accommodate any requests. We provide you with lots of information to make your stay smooth such as info about our area and also provide a sheet of "Frequently Asked Questions & Answers". We also host amazing work volunteers from around the world who help us with assisting our guests with basic needs and questions. The NeighborhoodOur home is nested on 1.5 private in a beautiful, desirable area in the hills just minutes from Kona town. We've had many people visit our property (even long time locals) that have said "wow! This spot is amazing! Driving down the road you'll see coffee farms, banana trees and macadamia nut groves and lush tropical foliage. Our neighbors are mostly coffee growers and farmers. You don't see any other houses from our home (even though we do have neighbors on adjacent properties), yet we are conveniently located minutes from Keauhou Resort and Kailua Kona where you'll find all the modern conveniences of shopping, dining, movie theaters, entertainment, grocery stores and of course wonderful beaches, snorkeling spots and amazing island adventures. The historic Keauhou Store is located just under a mile from our home. This adorable country/vintage store sells all kinds of snacks, drinks and even has a small lunch menu. It's a great place to sit on their porch, relax and watch life go by. Palekana road (the road our home is on) is a great road for a morning run or evening walk. You can easily walk to an award winning coffee farm called "Heavenly Hawaiian". One of our neighbor's farms is a distant learning sight for Kamehameha Schools so sometimes you can hear the kids chanting in Hawaiian as they work on the land. On certain nights if you're sitting outside on the lanai (deck), the beats of the Tahitian drums from the luau at the Sheraton Resort travel up the mountain. It is so cool. Makes one feel like you're in ancient Hawaii! Getting AroundThe big island can fit all the other Hawaiian islands within its area. With so much to see and do, we recommend hiring/renting a car. Our home is approximately 25 minutes south of the Kona airport and approximately 10 to 25 minutes from many of the popular beaches and snorkel spots. Riding a bike is not a realistic sort of transportation to our home as we are located uphill from Kona town. The old highway that leads to our house is also windy and there is no shoulder to ride on. There is a local bus however it only runs a couple times a day and drops off/picks up about a mile walk from the house. You could easily get caught in a Mauka downpour rainstorm heading to the bus stop or back. Other Things to Note~*~NATURE~*~ We have 3 dogs. They live in a separate fenced in courtyard. They're very sweet dogs and pretty much hang out in the courtyard and play. They rarely bark. If they do, it's short and usually only when a new guest arrives or they don't like the sound of a particular vehicle. We live in Kona Coffee Country and are surrounded by nature and animal sounds. The area (and pretty much all of rural Hawaii) has it's share of wild turkeys, pheasants, coqui frogs during the rainy season (spring) and of course we can't forget Hawaii's official alarm clock, the wild rooster. We do provide you with complementary ear plugs however if you are a particularly light sleeper you might want to consider your stay here. NOTE: The roosters seldom crow right near the house. You can mostly hear them from a distance.

The SpaceAloha! Thank you for your interest in staying with us. We know that a trip to Hawaii is for many, a once in a lifetime adventure and we want to be part of a wonderful and memorable experience. On that note, please take a moment to read the following info so you know exactly what we have to offer you. 1. Guest Interaction. In addition to our home vacation rental we run a bakery & cafe business in downtown Kona. It is RARE we get to meet our guests. This home vacation rental is set up for self sufficient travelers. If you are expecting to be personally greeted when you arrive and have us knock on your door to check on you, you will be disappointed. We ARE available via text or message thread to answer any questions you have and also host work volunteers from all over the world that are at the house until 2 pm every day that can assist you with many things and questions you might have. 2. We are located in the country just 10 to 15 minute south of downtown Kona. If you want to experience the sounds of nature such as pheasants, wild pigs snorting around (on occasion), coqui tree frogs serenading you to sleep, rainforest sounds, roosters, chickens and occasional barking of dogs, you'll be in heaven. Note that pretty much anywhere you stay in the jungle environment on the Big Island there will be coqui frogs, roosters and chickens. 3. ATTENTION Honeymooners or those seeking a "Private" experience. Our home is not built like hotels or condos. The walls are thin and although you do have privacy please understand that this is a HOME and not a hotel. Guest AccessThere is snorkel gear and body boards that are available to all our guests on a first come first serve basis. Guests also have access to the back lanai where another patio table is located and access to our private hot tub. Makes one feel like you're in ancient Hawaii! Getting AroundOur home is located approximately 25-30 minutes south of the Kona International Airport which is 10-15 minutes from downtown Kona. If you're arriving on a flight at the Hilo airport, Kailua Kona & our home is about a 2 hour drive. Renting a car is a ideal when staying at our place. If you don't have a "smartphone", we recommend a GPS or a great map. If you choose to use one of our maps or guidebooks and don't have a GPS, no worries! We'll provide you with very detailed instructions to our home. It really is easy to find (even at night). If you don't plan on renting a car, you will find our place to not be the best spot. However, when my schedule allows, I have accommodated guests before who didn't have cars. Let me know if this is something you're interested in. Other Things to NoteThe studio is accessible via an exterior, covered stairwell. If stairs pose a challenge for you, you'll find this to not be a suitable place. We live on 1.5 acres in Kona Coffee country. We are surrounded by nature. If you're a light sleeper, this might not be the best option for you. When it's the rainy season in Kona, the coqui frogs come from burrowing and chirp a symphony all night long. Sometimes wild pigs are in the area and squeal late at night followed by our dogs barking at them. Wild hens sing their egg laying song during the day. Roosters crow early in the morning and sometimes in the middle of the night if the moon is getting full. Many guests have stayed with us and have enjoyed their time here. We just want you to know that these sounds of nature are possible.

The SpaceThank you for your interest in staying at our guest house. We want all our guests to have an enjoyable stay so before you book we kindly ask and recommend reviewing the information regarding "Guest Interaction" and "Other Things To Note" to make sure this is the best fit for you. This spacious studio just minutes from Kona town has a comfy king bed and private bathroom. The kitchenette is small but sufficient enough to create simple meals. Enjoy them on the bistro table over looking a beautiful view of the pacific. Guest AccessGuests have access to the back lanai. There is a BBQ grill and patio table with chairs and several. We do have a hot tub and welcome our guests to enjoy it during their visit. Interaction with GuestsOur home is a wonderful place for the self sustainable guest. We have a "Self Check In" policy. Check in is anytime after 3:00 pm and later arrivals add fine as you will be provided with very detailed instructions on how to find our home and get to your room/studio when you arrive. We own and run a small bakery and cafe in Kona so we are a very busy family. We get up early and get home late in the afternoons so it is rare that we meet our guests. We are part of a program called "Work Away" where we host very cool people from around the world who trade their stay with us to assist with our home vacation and cafe businesses. Please know that these workaway guest volunteers are happy to assist you while we are not home, however just as we expect them to respect you during your stay, we ask our guests to respect them as well. The NeighborhoodOur home is nested on 1.5 private acres in a beautiful, desirable area in the hills just minutes from Kona town. Palekana road (the road our home is on) is a great road for a morning run or evening walk. Getting AroundOur home is a convenient drive to Kona town and surrounding amenities and conveniences however it's not a great place to stay if you are not renting a car. If you want to experience many of the wonderful things Kona (and the Big Island) has to offer, we highly recommend a car. There is a bus about a 1 mile walk from the house, but the bus can be unreliable, late, early or out of service. Riding a bike is not recommended. The hill is steep and the country road is windy and dangerous for bikers as it has no shoulder. Mahalo! Other Things to NoteWe have 3 dogs that live in the fenced in courtyard. They're very sweet dogs and pretty much hang out in the courtyard and play. They rarely bark. If they do, it's usually brief and happens when a car pulls down the driveway or if there are wild pigs in the driveway. We live in Kona Coffee Country and are surrounded by nature and animal sounds. This area (and pretty much all of rural Hawaii) has it's share of wild turkeys, pheasants, pigs, coqui frogs (during the rainy season) and of course we can't forget Hawaii's official alarm clock, the wild rooster. The roosters aren't always by the house but occasionally do find their way to roost in the surrounding trees. We do provide you with complementary ear plugs however if you are a particularly light sleeper you might want to consider if this will be the best stay for you.

The SpaceOur Bamboo Jungle room is a private room located in our 3 bedroom guest cottage. This guest cottage is separate from our main house which is uniquely connected by stairways, overhangs and decks. Our property has a very mellow vibe. It feels a bit like a hostel and has nicely been described as "Modern Wilderness" and a "Rustic Retreat". The room is a bit on the smaller side however you have full on access to the sunroom out your bedroom door (shared with guests, if any, staying in the room next door. Please see photos). There are also 2 outdoor lanais (decks) which gives you a lot of space to stretch out and relax. You do have a "privately" designated area in the sunroom with sofa/futon and coffee table where you can sit and relax. There is a not a closet in this room however there is a dresser with drawers for storing your clothes. There is not a TV in this room. The space has a nice high speed network provided by Hawaiian Telcom. If the phones are down for some reason (usually high winds during the winter) we have a dependable high speed cable connection that can be accessed off the main house lanai. The shower is located outside and surrounded by wild flowers, trees, a small rock wall and cedar wall panel. Many guests have expressed the outdoor shower being a wonderful experience even after feeling a bit apprehensive about using it. It is totally private and secure. The bathroom & sink is located ensuite. It has its own little room with door. The room comfortably fits 2 people however a third and even fourth guest is possible if they choose to sleep on the sofa/futon that is located in the adjacent sun room. *There is an extra charge for more than 2 guests age 16 and up. Guest AccessGuests have access to the back lanai patio table and hot tub as well as the front porch mini yoga zone. Interaction with GuestsIn addition to our vacation home business, we own and run a small bakery and cafe in downtown Kona so we're a very busy family. Renting a car is a MUST when staying at our place and we recommend a GPS (if you don't own a smart phone). This will help you not only find our home that is privately tucked away, but will also assist you in getting around the big island in general. The local bus service and taxi service is not recommended when staying at our home. The SpaceOur family has vacationed in Kona for over 35 years. Every year we make sure we stay at the Keauhou Punahele Condos. Kailua-Kona and the Keauhou area have truly become our second home. We purchased this unit after staying in it ourselves because it is a first class unit, and the location is optimal with a great view and soft ocean breeze. We are happy to share this Hawaiian experience with you. The Keauhou Punahele condos are well-maintained and are constructed of concrete, allowing for a quiet environment. The whole complex is fairly small, so there are not a lot of crowds, traffic, or noise. It has been our experience that visitors that stay here like to return because it has a small family atmosphere. There are many repeat visitors, owners, and long term vacationers. This location is ideal. They are the last condos along Alii drive, surrounded by The Kona Country Club Golf Course, and the Keauhou Pier which is the launching point of many wonderful excursions. You will see turtles swimming in this bay as well as kayakers and stand up paddle boarders (boards & kayaks are available to rent for a small fee). Because they are the last units, you won't get much car traffic, and there are great places to walk, bike, or jog in both directions. Although these units are not on the water, a very short walk takes you to the sea side to watch beautiful sunsets. They are also just a short walk to the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa where you will watch manta rays feeding at night, while dining and listening to live music at the ocean side Rays on the Bay restaurant. This 1200 sq ft. unit has a prime location in the center of the complex. Parking is never a problem as your private spot is at your door and is free to you. The view from this unit is ideal. It overlooks the pool without the noise. The private lanai has new furniture for your relaxation, and has access from the living room and the master bedroom. This unit faces the Pacific Ocean, creating a stunning backdrop to lush palms and crystal pool. One of our favorite attributes is the tree that is located right outside the master bedroom lanai. We get to see and hear the birds chirping, as well as various geckos climbing around. This unit has been meticulously kept up over the years and will truly feel like your home away from home as it did for us. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed with access to the lanai, and ocean views. This allows for a great breeze during the day or night. The master bath is beautiful after a recent remodel with tile counter tops, a block shower stall, and a walk-in closet. The second bedroom has two single beds with brand new mattresses, a dresser to store clothes, and a large closet. The second bath has a recently remodeled vanity, along with a full shower, and full sized, brand new washer and dryer and all laundry/cleaning necessities. Enjoy a spacious living area with cozy, contemporary couches, and a large high-definition flat screen TV in living room and the master bedroom with cable, and free wifi for internet needs. The living area opens up to the lanai adding to the enjoyment of your morning Kona coffee or evening Mai Tai while enjoying the evening breeze, chirping birds, and the striking sunsets. The long Lanai has lounge chairs, a new bistro style table to relax at, and a barbecue for grilling your favorite local fish or meat. This complex is one of few places in the area that allows grilling on your own lanai. The remodeled kitchen includes new cabinets, granite counter tops and tile flooring. All new stainless steel appliances were installed July of 2014. It has all the amenities one needs! There is also a bar area with two teak bar stools facing the lanai to be able to enjoy your morning coffee inside with the same amazing views. All areas of this condo have ceiling fans to keep you cool, as well as an extra standing fan in both bedrooms. Just a few steps away from this unit, enjoy the quiet gated swimming pool and Jacuzzi area, which also has a “log house" for your shaded needs as well as day and evening social gatherings. Bathrooms and shower are available at the pool as well. Keauhou Punahele (Keauhou area) is nicely located away from the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough to walk to the Keauhou Shopping Center which has restaurants, Keauhou Cinemas, KTA grocery store (ATM inside), Long's Drugs, US Post Office, and an Urgent Care medical facility to name a few. There is also a tennis complex next door with numerous rental courts and equipment. There are many excursions to choose from in Kona such as Para-sailing in the Kailua-Kona Pier, visiting Volcanoes National Park, Helicopter rides around craters and lava flows, snorkeling at the near-by Kahaluu beach to see a large variety of fish and turtles, or joining our favorite Fair Wind snorkeling excursion to the famous Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua bay. Take the day to drive around the island, visit Parker Ranch to ride horses, or drive to Hilo. The big Island is the best place to find a wide variety of activities for the curious adventurer or tourist, or to just lay back and relax without the hustle and bustle of a busy city. There is so much to do and see on this island, we encourage any visitor to search the web for ideas, discounts and scheduling. *There is an additional 13.42 % fee for Hawaii taxes. THIS WILL BE ADDED AS AN ALTERATION TO YOUR RESERVATION. Guest AccessComplex gated pool with jacuzzi, on golf course, close to ocean and beach, kayaking, paddle boarding, excursions, walking on quiet road, biking, restaurants, shopping, movie theater, grocery store, snorkeling, ocean swimming, local trolley, and much more! Interaction with GuestsI email with my guests as much as needed. I am always available to answer questions. The NeighborhoodVery quiet, end of the road location. Also, a short walk to the pier (ocean, excursions, beach, rentals, etc.). Getting AroundThere is a shuttle that takes you from one end of the town down to the other end, as well as the shopping centers. It's only $2 each way, and can be caught at the hotel right next to our condo. You can find their schedule by looking up Kona Trolley Shuttle on line. Other Things to NoteThere is also a DVD player in the unit for your movie rentals! Free wifi is also provided. We take pride in providing many extras for our renters so they don't have to buy or pack extras. This includes beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, and beach umbrella. Some fins and snorkels are there but those depend on size and fit.

The SpaceHonu Reef is an upstairs, non-smoking property with an open floor plan of 760sf, 1 bedroom, a living area with a large cable-equipped tv, free Wi-Fi, a full kitchen with microwave & oven/stove, a dining area & a fabulous covered lanai. We're located in the heart of Kona Coffee country @ 1200 ft elevation, where there are at least 10 different coffee farms in a 5-mile radius where you can sample some of the area's best brews! NOTE: The sofa IS NOT a bed & is prohibited from being used as such. If both people will not be sharing the queen-size bed, we have a 2 bedroom option available as a separate listing for a small amount extra per night. It is listed as Honu Reef 2 Bedrooms with Ocean Views. Guest AccessIn the garage closet there are straw beach mats, a beach bag, boogie board, folding lawn chairs, snorkel equipment & a picnic cooler bag for those beach-perfect Hawaiian days. Also, the washer/dryer are located in the garage too. Simply use the inner stairwell to access it, the door is on the right at the bottom foyer. Interaction with GuestsGuests basically have the entire place to themselves, but if they'd like some detailed info on the area, we're more than happy to help them out. The NeighborhoodGreat family neighborhood on a private road. Very close to many coffee farms and tasting areas at about 1200' elevation. We are not close to the beach, the nearest shoreline access is down the mountain approximately 4 miles away to sea level. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop near the McDonald's where Ke'e Ke'e St & Hwy 11 intersect, but bus service is VERY limited. Having a rental car is much more convenient, and more of a necessity on the Big Island than a want. Other Things to NoteThe 40 ft of private road to Honu Reef is paved asphalt with a steep 15% grade. ANY car will be fine driving up & down it, no worries =) Because the house is upstairs and has an open inner stairwell to the garage (washer & dryer location), families with small children are advised to exercise prudence before reserving our home. Additionally, any child over the age of 1 should be considered an extra guest for reservation purposes. A late check-out of 4pm may be possible with advance notice at time of booking (which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis & may not be available for every stay) for an additional $25 cash payable at time of service. Any guests wishing to check-out after 4pm will be assessed another full night's charge, also payable in cash at time of service. Unfortunately, due to our location on a small island in the middle of the Pacific & our 3-night minimum stay requirements, any late arrivals after the 1st day of your reservation or early departures before the last day of your reservation can not be refunded. Other Things to NoteThe 40 ft of private road to Honu Reef is paved asphalt with a steep 15% grade. ANY car can get up & down it, no worries =) Because the house is upstairs and has an open inner stairwell to the garage (washer & dryer location), families with small children are advised to exercise prudence before reserving our home. A quick 4 miles down slope, Manini Beach allows easy access into Kealakekua Bay, a marine life conservation district, which is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and encounters with the dolphins. What makes our location even more spectacular is that we are situated at 19.5 degrees North latitude on the planetary grid. 19.5 is the geographic point at which the apex of a star tetrahedra contacts the earth's surface when one of the tetahedra's apexes is positioned at the north or south pole. In Hawaii, the 19.5 parallel connects our property to Mauna Loa and the dolphins at Kealakeekua Bay. Hawaiian elders call this area "The Golden Triangle"; ancient Hawaiians knew it as the "Pathway to the God." Researchers Richard C. Hoagland, Stanley McDaniel, Erol Torun, Horace W. Crater and others have come to identify the 19.5 position as a "signal in the noise" -- a "'message" left here by some intelligence, a "stargate portal." At this dynamic angle, there exists an almost palpable intersection between the surface of the planet and its light-body (i.e., the sacred Merkaba). Given a light-body’s ability to bridge connections between different dimensions, the 19.5 degrees setting is said to exhibit an energetic predisposition for inter-dimensional experience; it allows light codes to enter the energetic matrix of the Earth and to then "broadcast" to the world and beyond any prayers and/or intentions made here.
