One of the earliest established in the country, the coffee plantation is spread over 200 acres of still flourishing coffee-bushes, surrounded by spectacular forested hills and gushing streams of crystal clear water.
Originally named after the Horoor village in which it is located, The Old Kent Estates was developed in mid 1800s by Lieutenant Colonel W. R. Wright, an army officer in British India. Also a writer and a poet, his keen oversight of every branch of the plantation contributed largely to the transformation of the estate in just twenty three years – from a jungle in which big game abounded to a highly cultivated and thriving estate and a delightful home to its owners. Largely preserved in its old glory, Old Kent Estates & Spa is a tribute to the colonial charm of British India.
The 200 acre plantation is home to some of the oldest cultivars of coffee, pepper and cardamom in India, as well as a large variety of wild flora and fauna.
