The SpaceThis bedroom is situated in an artsy, eclectic & creative home in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, close to the airport. The house has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, a peaceful garden, clean bedding, comfortable sofas and enough places to enjoy leisure-time.
Come for a break-away weekend, for a stop-over, or even an extended stay! Guest AccessGuests will have access to a bathroom, a bedroom, a kitchen, the garden, a fireplace, a washer, a dryer and a lounge. This is a family home so expect to feel part of our family very soon!
Interaction with GuestsWe are fun, exciting, open-minded, intellectual people who like having interesting conversations with our guests about their travels, the world etc.
We like interacting with our guests, but this also depends on the guest.
Some people want to immerse themselves in our language, culture and our family/hobbies. Others prefer to be left alone to do their own thing - it is up to the individual.
We speak English & Afrikaans (one of SA's official languages) fluently and we are happy to speak to you in either of these. :) The NeighborhoodThe thing we love about this neighbourhood, Van Riebeeck Park, is that it's a very family-friendly suburb, clean, quiet and safe. It's also quite a leafy suburb, close to shopping malls, schools and a supermarket. Not too far from the airport, our home is situated in a safe security-estate.
I was born in this city and I know it like the back of my hand! Anything you need to know, I can probably answer - or at the very least, find you an answer from someone who knows! Getting AroundRegarding public transit: there is not much in terms of reliable public transit in Johannesburg, really. (Except for the Gautrain).
But taxi cabs can take you anywhere you need to go. I would not recommend trains or city buses. Long-distance buses (for instance, the ones that take you to Cape Town) are great, ask me if you are unsure of which carrier to choose...
Rental car agencies are also available everywhere. International brands such as Avis and Europcar are everywhere. (Remember, we drive on the right side of the road, which is of course the left!) Other Things to NoteI have three Yorkshire terriers, they are like children to me, but they won't bother you if you prefer not to be bothered. Don't worry though, you'll LOVE them!
I always have something ready for guests in the morning. Generally my guests prefer on-the-go breakfasts as they are usually off to go sight-seeing. Therefore, I usually have some muffins or some scones or some rusks or toast with jam & butter as well as good coffee and tea available. This will be included in your pricing.
If you require something very specific i.e gluten-free, then let's chat.
O.R Tambo International Airport is a hub for many and therefore a lot of guests enquire about taxis/cabs/transfers from the airport. I am happy to give you the details of these companies - or chat to me about the possibility of picking you up from the airport at a very good rate.
I also LOVE showing guests around the city - if you want to find out more - just enquire with me! There's loads to do in JHB.
