The SpaceMy stone house dates from 1817 and was fully remodeled and renovated in 2010--leaving the period charm, but adding thoroughly modern bathrooms, heating, AC, and kitchen facilities. The Loft room has space for kids to bunk on the floor, and a great bathroom with a soaking tub and a heated floor.
I rent another bedroom in this house as well: please search the Hockessin listings for the Old Master (full bed, bath).
The Loft bedroom is on the third floor. It is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Please note that I do not accept long-term bookings. My maximum stay is one week. Guest AccessThe kitchen and living room are yours to share, and you can cook meals for yourself as long as you clean up! There is no TV in your bedroom, but there is a TV in the living room. Interaction with GuestsI am happy to provide guidance on local attractions and restaurants, and I love to share meals with guests who so desire. The NeighborhoodThe house is one of the oldest structures in Hockessin and is located across the street from the Hockessin Friends Meeting, which dates from the 18th century. I'm proud of the history of the house and the area, and feel very lucky to be living here! Getting AroundThe house is just 10 minutes from Kennett Square and 12 minutes from Longwood Gardens. Wilmington, Winterthur, the Brandywine River Museum, and many other Brandywine Valley and northern Delaware attractions are 20-25 minutes away.
Unfortunately, public transit is not an option in this area. You will need to have a car to stay here and explore the region. Other Things to NoteThe Brandywine Valley area is chock-full of natural beauty, history, arts, and charming restaurants. World-class art and decorative arts collections, some of the most celebrated public gardens in the US, and more than 300 years of American history are all here. Outdoor activities include hiking, birding, canoeing, inner tubing, and fly fishing in the rolling hills and rivers around the area.
Driving just a little farther gets you to the northern reaches of the DE/MD Eastern Shore or the countrified delights of Lancaster County, PA. I love this area and I hope you will too!
