The SpaceRichard Bach, author of Johnathan Livingston Seagull and Illusions walked through my door one day and insisted on visiting. He said: "I have to stay here". You may well feel the same way. My home is down home comfortable and exudes an aura of calm where stories are shared. The waterfall next to the house is soothing and time slows down. Here is a special place that I have the privilege to call home and share with guests and friends. A glass front wood stove crackles and a driftwood rocking chair creaks beneath you as you gaze out the window over the creek watching the salmon leaping on their last journey home to spawn. It is a place of quiet reflection, inspired meals, baked bread, red wine and laughter shared. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the main floor, dining room and kitchen. A laundry is available for $5 per load. A shelf in the refrigerator is for your use. The bathroom is shared. Continental breakfast. Interaction with GuestsInteraction is on a case by case basis. I have a separate hair salon in the back of my property where I style hair so visiting tends to wander around my schedule. I try to run a Kosher household so I would appreciate no pork products in my home! The NeighborhoodThe creek, the waterfall and the quick access to shopping and the ocean. The neighborhood is busy with locals and tourists and plenty of time is spent chatting over fences. Getting AroundThere is a public bus stop is a short walk around the block from the house and can be ridden for $1.00 accessing all the major sites in Ketchikan. Other Things to NoteMy home was built in 1917 and the bedroom is on the second floor up a flight of fairly narrow stairs. The shared bathroom is on the lower floor. Guests with mobility issues will not enjoy this! I also have two Dachsunds, who will bark at you when you come in the door but will adore you after you stroke their ears! Dog lovers will appreciate this, but if you are allergic or ambivalent about dogs my home may not be a good fit for you. .. I have a bicycle that you are welcome to use. The spokes and handlebars a rusty, it would love to see some pavement and the bike trail along the waterfront. … I am a hairstylist and massage therapist, if you think you may want one or both of these services we need to schedule early to make sure there is room for you.

The SpaceLiving on an island on the water is what I love about life in Southeast Alaska. Being away from roads, cars and the busyness....that is why I love it here. Life moves a little slower....a whole lot quieter. As I bring groceries down to my boat many visitors strolling the dock stop to ask: Do you live over there? They want to know what it is like. How do you describe solitude, lazing beneath cedars on a moss bed, beach combing for treasure, soaking in a tub as the sun sets with seals in the bay, splashing the water's edge to watch the bioluminescence boil green beneath your feet...How do you describe just gazing as the tide rolls away... Ketchikan is a noisy, busy, bustling town with one road and a whole bunch of people hustling to make the most of the short summer season. It has been my home for 20 years and I love it, but there is little better than climbing in the boat and motoring over to Pennock Island. The Roost Room is a special place. With windows on all four walls overlooking the bay and the forest you can cosy up in the big easy chairs and try to read a book, if you are able to stop daydreaming out the window. The room has one king bed and two singles and is located up a flight of stairs, the only room on the upper floor. The home including kitchen, beaches, forest trails, hot tub and garden.
