The SpaceMay and June book by the day or by the week. The management prefers bookings for July and August are by the week but single days may still be booked depending availablity. September and October bookings are by the day or by the week. It is a good idea to inquire early in the year to secure your bookings. It doesn't hurt to make a simple phone call. Some people will book a year in advance. Guest AccessCottage comes with deck, 2 picnic tables, a row boat ,a canoe and two paddle boards. There is a fire pit and dock. In the fire pit area there are over head party lights that can be switched on from inside the cottage. Located next to the cottage is an 80' lot for games. Croquet and badminton provided. There is also a Gazebo on the lot for relaxing or reading. Because the cottage sits on the East side of the lake, beautiful Sunsets are an added bonus and are free in the evenings. Interaction with GuestsWhile the cottage is rented, I live in the house next door so am available for questions or to help in any situation. I have a handy man on call for bigger problems. I can be visible or invisible as the guest wants. If a guest wants to have a conversation or to sit around the fire, I will say yes but otherwise, I keep to myself. The NeighborhoodRoss's Roost is located on a quiet secluded road with very little traffic except for residents. Trips to Traverse City or Charlevoix take no more that one half hour. Nearby is a super market, the Village of Elk Rapids and restaurants. There is information on the TV table about where things are. There is information on that table about WiFi and internet also.

The SpaceThe location of the Guest House at the back of the property affords more privacy and a more panoramic view of the lake from the second floor living area. The place is clean and does not have that musty old cottage smell. We take pride in keeping our home up and want to share it with people who will treat it like Their Home as well. Welcome. Guest AccessA Swim Swim Dock, boat moorings, tennis court, The Beautiful Torch Lake, expansive lawn, private, great shopping, dining options in several quaint nearby small towns. (Dining options vary from breakfast joints to 4 star in this summer resort area) Boat Rentals from the local marina or bring your own. This is a residential area except for our rental properties alone so please respect neighobors' privacy. Thanks. Interaction with GuestsWe are very available at all times for any questions or problem solving and can be contacted at anytime through our Home Office Numb(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). The NeighborhoodThe Lot sizes on our Torch Lake Properties are 150' or larger, unlike much of the Lake Frontage that has McMansions, side by side on 100' lots with air conditioners going all night and day. So it's a nice, quiet, private and absolutely beautiful summer home that is buffered by long standing trees and landscaping. Walk around in your bathrobe! Getting AroundNo public transit except for expensive cab service. We suggest bringing your own vehicle(s). There are car rental services in nearby Traverse City Cherry Capital Airport for those who fly in. Private Planes can use the Torch Port Air Strip ten miles north of the Torch Lake Guest House if they have their ground transportation prearranged or for a fee we can pick them up in our Chevy Tahoe! Other Things to NoteIncredible fall color/views. Great place for long walks, bike rides, jogging. Nearby Traverse City, Elk Rapids, Alden, Boyne, etc - central location and very peaceful.

Some 2014 Local Events 7.30.14 Elk Rapids Harbor Days is a small town celebration with a big reputation in northern Michigan;make it a part of your summer plans! It includes dinner-in-the-park, a harbor run, a parade, fireworks, a carnival, a movie in the park, and more. Harbor Days is traditionally known to have one of the best pyrotechnic displays in northern Michigan. Imagine relaxing on the beach after a busy day and watching the dazzling array of fireworks lighting up the evening sky and reflecting from the water below. These fireworks usually don't start until about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. Harbor Days begin on Wednesday evening with the weekly Evening-On-River-Street event where you can enjoy a cornucopia of sights and sounds including food, art, demonstrations, displays and live music. Friendly locals line River Street in their lawn chairs taking it all in. On Saturday, there is a parade down River Street with floats, bands, and town celebrities! Be prepared to be creative when it comes to parking; the tiny village of Elk Rapids is inundated with summer visitors for this event. 7.29.14 The Traverse City Film Festival was founded by filmmaker and local resident Michael Moore who plays a major role in many of the free panel discussions. These panels include directors, writers, actors, and other members of the film industry and are offered daily at the City Opera House. In general, the festival emphasizes documentaries, foreign films and independent American films. At dusk, there are also family movies free of charge on a giant, inflatable outdoor screen. These are shown in the park on the Bay. Film school sessions are available at Northwestern Michigan College (NMC). To attend the festival, park at NMC and then take advantage of the shuttle buses to go downtown. From there, you'll be able to walk to the various film venues. This charming property is a natural landscape setting, sitting along Antrim County's shoreline dune region. The views from the home, decks, and the beach takes in Old Mission Peninsula and Leelanau County, serving up picturesque sunsets across Grand Traverse Bay. Enjoy the barbeque/dining deck, the lower deck at the edge of the dune, or sit around the campfire....the choice is yours. The beach front water levels on Grand Traverse Bay have rebounded nicely to offer a much more sandy bottom mixed with rock beds. So you will need to bring a water shoe or old tennies to start your swim. Kayaks, canoes, water toys, whatever your family enjoys for water sports can add to your use of this beach.
