The SpaceCharming waterfront cottage on the east side of Lake Cayuga. Amazing sunsets! Comfortably sleeps 3 couples & a single, or 2 couples & 4 children. ROKU TV's, classic video games, lots of movies, Direct TV at peak season. 25 mins from Ithaca, 10-15 mins to Aurora. Cottage Atwater is “Paradise on Lake Cayuga" and features the most amazing sunsets, a great place to get away from it all, to be surrounded by the beauty of nature and, yet, have access to all the amenities of civilization. Just 25 minutes from Ithaca and 9 minutes from Aurora, it's close enough to Cornell, Ithaca College and Wells College for special events. Celebrate later in a glorious location. At the waterfront, there is a dock and a mooring for your boat, as well as an area on the dock especially for your Kayak or canoe. Relax on comfortable chairs and roast marshmallow under the stars in the fire pit. The boat shed holds rafts and “noodles" for play in the lake. Up at the house, on the deck, there are chaise lounges, tables, chairs and umbrellas for enjoyment of the grand view outside during the warmer months. Barbeque in the back on the propane-powered grill is just outside the kitchen door. Winter rentals are lovely, too! Due to its location, it may be snowing heavily up the hill but down by the lake, the setting sun warms the land and there is little accumulation. The kitchen is equipped with a brand new electric oven and refrigerator, a microwave and fully stocked with kitchen utensils, pots and pans. There's plenty of parking, up at the house and down the driveway on the waterfront road. The driveway is a bit steep, so 4WD or AWD is preferred. The house features a comfortably furnished Living Room/Dining Room area with a High Definition TV. Direct TV is available upon request and there is an extensive library of DVDs and classic VHS tapes for your enjoyment. We provide linens and towels, clean and fresh for your arrival and the housecleaning is on us at the end of your stay. On the first floor, the Master Bedroom features a spectacular view of the lake. There is also a single bedroom with a twin bed and a recliner, which makes it nice for a Senior to kick back and get their feet up in the quiet of their own space. The bathroom is centrally located there, as well. Upstairs, in the sleeping loft, on the south side, there is a queen-size bed and a futon chaise, separated by half wall and a Victorian screen. On the other end, there is a high-riser that transforms into a King-size bed, and another Twin bed. The central area has a TV equipped with a DVD player, VHS machine and a large collection of ‘old school' video game systems and games. There is also a Futon couch that converts to a Full-size bed. This is a great area for the kids to hang out. For your convenience, a layout of the floor plan is included in the photos. Guests will have access to the entire house, the waterfront, the boat shed and the garage for your bicycles. Did I mention that this is a fantastic place to go biking? And through Wine Country, no less! The boatlift can be made available on a case-by-case basis and for an extra charge and deposit. Although the chances are remote that we, the owners, will be in the area at the time of your rental, we do have local assistants who will make themselves available to you in the event of a problem of some sort. Their phone numbers will be made available to you, as well as ours, in our correspondence and also in the Information Booklet provided. For general questions, we are best reached immediately by text message. We are located on a lovely waterfront road that, long ago, used to be a train track running alongside Lake Cayuga. Now a quiet haven of vacation and permanent homes, the junction of the road leading down the hill from the main road was once a bustling trade center, complete with a Post Office, a ferry and a train station. To the south of our house is a permanent residence. A tall hedge between both driveways separates our properties. To the north and the east is undeveloped so, overall, there is a great sense of privacy and solitude. This is a wonderful place to relax, to catch up on your reading, to write the Great American novel, to get out on the lake, go biking and enjoy the fresh air – the possibilities are endless. In as much as we are lakeside, in the country, there is no public transportation to and from Cottage Atwater. Within Ithaca itself, there is what they call the TCAT or Tomkins Consolidated Area Transit. Public Transportation by bus from the NY Metropolitan Area is provided by Coach USA via the ShortLine Bus. There are 4 airports within 50 miles of King Ferry. Their proximities, closest to furthest, are as follows; Tomkins County Airport, Syracuse Hancock Airport, Binghamton Regional Airport and Elmira/Corning Regional Airport. Transportation to and from these airports is most likely best handled by securing rental cars there. There is a window air conditioner in the Master Bedroom and one can be made available in the small bedroom, although due to it's location on the floor plan, that room always seems to stay cool, even on the hottest days. A window air conditioner can also be installed in the Dining area window upon request. Fans are provided throughout the house. The water comes from the lake. Although it runs through a filtered and chlorinated system prior to reaching the tap, we do not drink it. Prior to your arrival, we will stock the house with a case of 20 oz. bottles, as well as 10 one gallon jugs to use for drinking, cooking and brushing teeth. An Information Booklet is also provided here online and on the premises with all the rules and nuances of the house. Someone is always available to answer any questions you may have during your stay – text messaging being the best way to get immediate attention. Brochures, maps and pamphlets will be available on premises for your reference, as well. Guest AccessAccess to the entire house. Interaction with GuestsPlease contact me via cell (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). We have very capable assistants who can be available if anything comes up that needs immediate attention. The NeighborhoodThis area of the lake is especially notable for its amazing sunsets. Watching the sun set is a favorite pastime around here. Also waterskiing, fishing (the lake is stocked) and swimming. There are also waterfront restaurants, vineyards and State Parks on the other side which make for fun and romantic excursions by boat. Getting AroundSince this lakeside cabin is smack-dab in the middle of farm and vineyard country, there is no public transportation. Cars are a must, preferably one with AWD or FWD since the driveway and some of the roads to the cottage are a bit steep. Bicycles are also a lot of fun. There's nothing like riding up on the ridge roads overlooking the lake. No cars to speak of and fabulous views! Other Things to NotePlease note that the water in the sinks and shower comes from the lake. It is fine for washing dishes and bathing but not for drinking or cooking. As a result, we are happy provide you with the first 6 gallons of drinking water and a case of bottled water.

Note: We are actually located in the town of King Ferry, but the location gets oddly messed up in search when we list it that way. ________________________________________ During the summer months (June-August) we rent by the week only, and our check out day is Saturday. ________________________________________ “Pura Vida" is Spanish for “pure life," a philosophy that encourages the appreciation of life's simple treasures. Relaxation; celebrating friends, family, and the good things in life; appreciating the beauty in every day; choosing to live life to the fullest! It's more than just a saying... it's a lifestyle that we hope you'll embrace when you stay here! The 3 BR/1.5Bath, 1100 square feet, 2-story house is truly right on the water with the front deck projecting over the lake; no long staircases to climb, unlike many houses on Cayuga Lake. Being on the east side of the lake means gorgeous morning views as the rising sun bathes the hills across the lake in golden light, and amazing sunsets in the evening. Recent renovation completed in May 2016, with total overhauls to both the full and half bathrooms, updates to the kitchen, new floors throughout, and fresh paint in every room. Brand new memory foam mattresses in 2016! It is updated, fresh, clean, and ready to be enjoyed! There is a small lakeside lawn to the north of the house with shade provided by a mature weeping willow tree and room to park 3 cars in designated packed gravel parking areas. The downstairs living space (kitchen/living room) is an open floor plan. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and dining (non-disposables like plates, glasses, cookware, etc are provided - you bring spices, condiments, and any disposable items) and the living room area includes comfortable updated furniture, flat screen TV with cable and a DVD player. Also on the first floor is a full bathroom with a combined shower/tub, and 2 bedrooms (BR1 sleeps 2 with a queen bed; BR2 is small but can sleep 3 with a twin-over full *bunk bed* - intended for kids, may not be optimally comfortable for adults). The open staircase leads to a second floor with a half bathroom, and a queen bed. The spacious deck projecting over the water has plenty of room for outdoor relaxing and dining. Outside a fire pit provides space for a beach fire and marshmallow roasting, and a propane barbecue is available on the deck for grilling. A seawall protects most of the yard from erosion, but there is a small pebble beach that is perfect for launching kayaks or canoes. There are 2 adult-sized and 2 kid-sized (for kids <120 pounds) kayaks available. The front dock is great for fishing (please bring your own gear), relaxing, or water entry, but the dock piers are not of sufficient size to allow tying up of boats. If you wish to trailer a boat, it can be launched for day use from nearby marinas, but may not be tied to the dock. Fans are provided throughout the house but there is no air conditioning - this is uncommonly a problem as adequate cooling is provided by the lake breezes and water the majority of the time, but we can't control for heat waves, and if you absolutely can't live without A/C, this may not be the right property for you. An electronic code lock means that you can arrive as late as you wish and come and go as you please. We provide bed linens and 1 set of bath towels for each guest; cleaning is taken care of by us when you depart. The property is located in a quiet lake community - small family get-togethers are fine, but large or rowdy events are not acceptable. Please respect the privacy of the neighbors and be considerate of noise levels. This cottage comfortably sleeps 7 and we are not set up to accept more guests than that at a time. Lake shore septic systems are sensitive and only able to reliably handle a certain level of use. Please be honest about how many people will be staying in the house - it does none of us any good if more people than the house can handle try to stay there. Well-behaved dogs allowed with prior owner permission & payment of the pet fee; we do not allow cats - if relevant to your visit, please inquire about our pet policies before booking. Come and enjoy Pura Vida Cottage and easy access to the many wonderful things that the Finger Lakes have to offer! Pura Vida! ______________________________________________ 2017 Graduation Event Rates - We are sorry, Pura Vida is booked for these event weekends 2018 Graduation Event Rates will be posted in June 2017 - if you are looking for a place to stay for these exciting events, we are in a beautiful location and within a very reasonable driving distance from Ithaca or Aurora! Stay on the lake and make a special visit, extra special!! Let a unique experience help create incomparable memories! Pura Vida's location is really optimal in many ways - we are not far down a single-lane private lakeshore road that, in the first half of the 20th century, used to be part of a railroad with train traffic up and down the lake. This road, Fire Lane 6, is a dead end, so there isn't busy through-traffic, making your stay quiet and safe. Unlike many of the other lake neighborhoods that have formed along this former railroad bed, Fire Lane 6 is quite short, and we are only about 13 houses from the turn to the main road, which means it is quick and easy to go on adventures if desired - no long, slow drives just to reach the main road! The evenings at Pura Vida are beautifully quiet and perfect for relaxing and stargazing - either from the comfortable deck or gathered around a lakeside bonfire (you provide the firewood)! While Pura Vida is in a peaceful rural setting and far enough from the hubbub to be relaxing, the fun college towns of Aurora and Ithaca are within easy striking distance. It is only 8 miles to Wells College in Aurora, or 20 miles to Ithaca College & Cornell University in Ithaca (an easy 25-30 minute drive along the east side of Cayuga Lake through farmland and rolling hills) - easily close enough for special events such as graduations. Three golf courses are nearby (the nearest one is the King Ferry Golf Club only 1/2 mile away!) and we are within easy distance of many state parks and other hiking trails, as well as centrally located to the wineries on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake (including King Ferry Winery, Long Point Winery, Heart and Hands Winery). The most convenient regional airports include Ithaca (approximately 25-30 minutes by car), Syracuse (approximately 1.25 hours by car), Elmira (approximately 1.25 hours by car), Rochester (approximately 1.5 hours by car), or Binghamton (approximately 1.5 hours by car). As we are in a rural area, public transportation services are not available and car rental is recommended.

The property is on the east side of the lake, which means gorgeous morning views as the rising sun bathes the hills across the lake in golden light, and amazing sunsets in the evening. The house has just completed a massive renovation (May 2016), with total overhauls to both the full and half bathrooms, major updates to the kitchen, new floors throughout, and fresh paint in every room. This will be the first year Pura Vida is available for summer rental, although for testimonials that will give you an idea of how we appoint our properties, please see our other property on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake (VRBO #717797). The main windows on Pura Vida's ground floor face south and west so the living area is full of light. While the yard overall isn't large, the property has a spacious 105 feet of lake frontage and the neighboring houses to each side are each at least 100 feet away, providing more privacy than in many lakeside locations. There is a small lakeside lawn to the north of the house with shade provided by a mature weeping willow tree (a great place to relax lakeside in the hammock!) and room to park 3 cars. The downstairs living space (kitchen/living room/dining area) is an open floor plan. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size refrigerator, gas stove/electric oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, blender, hand-mixer, waffle-maker, general cooking implements, dishes/tableware and dining area. The living room area includes a flat screen TV with cable and a DVD player and updated comfortable seating. Also on the first floor is a full bathroom with a combined shower/tub, and 2 bedrooms (BR1 has 1 queen bed; BR2 is small but has a bunk bed consisting of one upper twin-sized bunk (200 lb weight limit) and one lower full-sized bunk (400 pound weight limit)). The bunk bed is intended primarily for children and because of the twin/full mattress sizes and configuration, may not be optimally comfortable/convenient for adults. An open staircase leads to a second floor with a half bathroom (sink and toilet) and 1 queen bed. New memory foam mattresses in 2016. The spacious deck projecting over the water has plenty of room for outdoor relaxing and dining. While nearly every other comfort is present, please be aware that the house does not currently have laundry facilities on site. Outside a fire pit near the small pebble beach provides space for a beach fire (and marshmallow-roasting!), and a propane barbecue on the deck is available for grilling. A seawall protects most of the yard from erosion, but just to one side of the willow tree, a small pebble beach is perfect for launching kayaks or canoes. The property is on a quiet dead-end road - very peaceful and safe – and the level lake-frontage road is perfect for a lovely morning or evening walk or run! Fans are provided throughout the house but there is no air conditioning - this is uncommonly a major problem as sufficient cooling is generally provided by the lake breezes and proximity to the water, but we can't control for unexpected heat waves, so if you absolutely can't live without air conditioning, this may not be the right property for you. An electronic code lock means that you can arrive as late as you wish and come and go as you please. We provide bed linens and a limited number of bath towels for indoor use for every guest, and cleaning is taken care of by us when you depart. (If you wish to have additional towels or towels for outdoor use, we suggest that you bring them with you) During the summer months (June-August) we rent by the week only and our check out day is Saturday. We are dog friendly with some rules. We love dogs, but the house is very newly renovated, with brand new beds and furniture, so we are sensitive to damage, and sometimes even the sweetest pooches manage to get themselves into trouble! In general it is very important to us that dogs are not allowed on the beds or furniture, and can't be left alone free in the house - they would need to go with you or be crated when you are out. They need to be up to date on flea/tick preventative (both for their own sakes and to make sure they don't bring any crawlies inside with them) and vaccines. If you feel confident that you can vouch for the behavior of your dog, and are willing to comply with our Pet Policy overall, then we would be happy to welcome you and your dog to Pura Vida, however please review the Pet Policy and House Rules, and discuss this with us prior to finalizing your booking. There is a $150 nonrefundable pet fee - for multiple dogs, please discuss this with us up front. If you wish to bring bicycles for use during your stay our safe, quiet, level road is perfect for a family bike ride! Interaction with GuestsAn information handout is provided after booking, and will also be available in printed form inside the cottage. Although it is unlikely that we will be on site ourselves during your stay, we have a local manager who is available to help with any problems. The SpaceThe Evermore, formerly the Mackenzie -Childs Estate, has been lovingly restored and opened as a bed and breakfast. The original farmhouse is from 1780, and many of the rough hewn beams, wide plank floors and lath and plaster walls are still present. You will also discover the magical and unexpected touches from artists, Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs, who lived here for 30 years and used the home as a canvas for their whimsical line of ceramics and housewares. This home is nestled down a cobbled driveway with beautiful grounds that maintain a rustic elegance in the middle of farmland overlooking Cayuga Lake. The Carriage House was built in 1993 but breathes an old world charm. It was recently redecorated by Richard MacKenzie-Childs. The two apartments in the Carriage House can be rented individually or as one unit. Guest AccessWe live on the property and will welcome you upon arrival and answer any questions you may have. Interaction with GuestsWe live on the property and will welcome you upon arrival and answer any questions you may have. The SpaceThe Evermore, formerly the Mackenzie-Childs Estate, has been lovingly restored and opened as a bed and breakfast. Interaction with GuestsWe live on the property and will welcome you upon arrival and answer any questions you may have. The SpaceOur architecturally designed home with soaring ceilings and lake views from every room invites you to come relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings. Conceived and designed by Robbie Dein, artist and businessman, in 1992, we have been thrilled to own this lake front jewel since 2002. From the moment you look to the house from the driveway you see glass windows and doors that let the outside in, and you view the lake right through the center of the home. The lake is down a flight of stairs, with beach, grassy lawn, dock, fire pit, kayaks and a canoe, plus the lake itself and the varied wildlife that frequent it. The design of the home features high ceilings, windows and views across the lake-side expanse. The dining room, in the center section of the home, features a beech dining table able to seat up to 12. The kitchen provides a wall of wide open window views of the lake and grounds, and sliding glass doors directly onto the deep veranda, inviting family and friends to gather and visit before meals and to enjoy relaxed eating in the kitchen or on the veranda. The lake side of the house features a deep tiled and covered veranda done in a cool aqua motif that invites al fresco dining or evening drinks to catch the cool lake breezes. Later, the stars come out and the soft night invites lazing in the patio furniture before bed. A solid stone stairway winds gently down to the lake level where there is a grassy lawn and a few steps down to the pebble beach. A solid dock offers sunbathing, fishing, bird watching and a place to tie up your boat in the summer. In the north wing of the main floor of the house the intimate living room provides a widescreen television and library offerings. Both romantic and comfortable, our home has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The second floor of our home offers a master bedroom suite with master bath, jetted tub for two, separate marble tiled shower, double sinks and walk in closet. The two additional bedrooms provide cozy sleeping. The green bedroom has a queen bed facing a small glen. The loft bedroom offers spectacular views of the lake from the comfy loft bed accessed via a Jefferson stairway. Floor level of the loft bedroom has a fold down leather futon suitable for 1 adult, and a desk for laptop work with an internet connection. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire home; it is yours for the period of the agreed rental. Interaction with GuestsWe will provide you with access instructions to the home and directions. You will have a write up with any details about the home you might need. You will have the phone number of the owner in case you need to connect and the owner is local and can be responsive to any needs. The NeighborhoodThis beautiful home is on the edge of Cayuga Lake in the country, on a 1 mile 2 lane paved street. The surrounding hill sides are mostly farm land with the occasional country home or small herd of beef cattle or sheep. We often have plantings of sunflowers, or corn or other vegetable crop on the farm lands. The region is renowned for biking and hiking as well as the many nearby waterfalls and parks. Ithaca is 18 miles to the south and the charming Village of Aurora, home of Wells College, is 10 miles to the north. Getting AroundYou will need an automobile for getting around. Other Things to NoteBoth romantic and comfortable, our home has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The master bedroom and its en suite bath occupy the northern wing of the second floor. Sliding glass doors open onto a generous upstairs deck, inviting relaxing time under the stars before bed. In the balmy months of July and August we've slept on this upper deck under the stars enjoying the soft breezes off the lake and sounds of the water's movement. The master bedroom has a wall of lakeside glass windows, peaked ceiling, and a king size bed; the bathroom has marble tile and a generous 2 person whirlpool bath in addition to shower and 2 sinks. The southern second level wing features two intimate bedrooms; one containing a full sized bed, and the other bedroom containing a full sized loft bed with Jefferson stairway access, providing unparalleled views through the peaked lake front windows and direct upper deck access through more sliding glass doors. The center section of this unique home is the den and offers a comfortable sofa, television, library, wet bar, mini-fridge and more lake views as well as more sliding glass doors onto the upper deck. The 'fourth' bedroom is on the first floor of our home and is our guests first choice when we have visitors. It is a cozy room providing a full sized bed and en suite bathroom with tub/shower. Guests find this room especially inviting and quiet, encouraging sleeping in and drowsing naps. The landscaped grounds offer glimpses of local wild life (we have a wild 'yard bunny' and lots of birds). A stone stairwell with tree trunk railings winds down to the lake front where there is various lake equipment, a casual dock, a stone beach that invites fossil hunting as well as swimming and other water activities. Come and relax and recharge in this beautiful, comfortable home!

The SpaceWe have cats and dogs- lots of them. The suite consists of the bedroom and an adjoining private living room. There is one tub/shower that the house shares, but we are happy to defer to your schedule. We are on well water which is much cleaner than the tap water, but sometimes has a bit of a sulphur smell. Sulphur is very good for the skin- and we ourselves don't even notice it but in the interest of full disclosure I mention it here. We are a non chemical using household. We use natural cleaning products, (which are as effective as chemicals, and more effective over the long term) have only non synthetic furniture, a sumptuous natural latex mattress, provide organic coffee and tea, and supply organic cotton sheets and towels. IMPORTANT: We ask that you not use body mists or any airborne sprays in these rooms, and PLEASE do not spray anything directly on room surfaces. Please be aware that our sweet old farmhouse was built in 1850, which means other parts of the house are still awaiting our upgrades and renovations. We are a work in progress, but there is no intrusive renovating going on when guests are visiting. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to sit in the backyard by the garden and watch the sunset over a glass of wine, or the sunrise on the front porch (don't recommend wine for watching the sunrise), or tea, or coffee or... whatever. We have a fire pit and plenty of wood scraps to make a nice campfire for you to grill over, or sit around and tell ghost stories. Also try the hammock- excellent napping opportunity there. Interaction with GuestsWe are here to be helpful and enjoy meeting new people and sharing what we know (and learning what we don't :-), but also we respect your privacy, and need some of that for ourselves. The NeighborhoodWe are on an acre, as are our neighbors, and behind us is farmland, a lovely view, and a meandering tractor road which guests are welcome to walk. Across the street: cows! Getting AroundSO many things to do- we'll talk! Other Things to NoteTO REITERATE: We are on well water which is much cleaner than the tap water, but sometimes has a bit of a sulphur smell. We have pets. Our house is not 100% renovated yet. No wifi. Please honor our chemical free requirement. No candle lighting, please.

The SpaceSuperb and spacious home with 24 feet high cathedral ceilings and large windows facing the lake, elegantly furnished, original art work (partly by local artists), all natural paints, superb stereo, two large flat TVs for BluRay/DVDs (no TV channels), 100% hardwood or tile floors, wool, sisal or Persian carpets, Finnish sauna, Finnish fire place and wood stove, fire pit in the garden, 50 acres woodland, ravines, waterfalls, right on the lake and with your own dock. Also included is a daylight basement apartment with full bath, bedroom, living room, kitchen and wood/tile floors. The apartment is not rented to third parties unless you also rent the main house. Absolutely breathtaking in the summer, autumn, winter and spring! The daylight basement apartment's living room also has a double futon which can easily serve as a 6th bedroom. In addition to the bedrooms, with king, queen and double sized beds, the living rooms have large futons and a spare mattress so the house sleeps up to 21 if needed. (But if you come alone or as a couple, the place is still fabulous and affordable; I used to live there year round). The main living area has 24 foot high cathedral ceiling and glass front facing the lake for a spectacular view. The adjacent dining area also looks out on the lake. And the home us surrounded by 50 acres of woods; great strolls and playing for kids. Here is what recent customers (and now friends) had to say: “I suspect word-of-mouth is the best form of advertisement. Perhaps I might say that in my search for Shangri-La, I found it just outside Ithaca! … Quiet, peaceful, heavenly spot. Perfect for what I needed" (Allison May 2005). “Your house is a credit to you the detail and work you have but into it has made it an extraordinary house. I must admit that the photo's on the Internet do not do your house any justice. It is by far one of the nicest house that I have seen. Thank you again for sharing it with us." (Aidan from Ireland, June 2004) “My best friends all came and had the most wonderful time. The kitchen, porch, and fire pit had the amazing quality of drawing people in to a warm, cozy and happy hanging-out environment. The house is beautiful and wonderfully maintained. Everything is beautiful: the location, house, woods and nice owner, fabulous décor! Thank you so much for sharing it with me for my graduation". (Sally April 2005). Over the past couple months, this 1970's trailer has been entirely gutted and flipped. We have given the camp a new lease on life with a rustic modern charm (All renovations will be completed mid-April 2016). It is the perfect place for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. This house has 180ft lake frontage, a dock and a hoist. There is a patio for dining and a burn pit for campfires. In the side yard, there is a bunkhouse that has 2 twin cots. This provides one queen, one full bed and 2 twins. The camp is located 3.5 miles down a private road with little traffic. There is plenty of room for parking and there is plenty of room for tents! The road is very family friendly and it is a great place to walk and ride bicycles. At the camp there is a row boat and a paddle boat that you may use! Long Point State Park is 5 miles north of the property. The town of Aurora is an adorable place a mile beyond Long Point. The closest cities are Ithaca and Auburn, NY (approximately 45 minutes away).
