The SpaceWe aim to provide a reasonably priced, high quality accommodation and memorable experience. When we've stayed at AirBnB places, we've felt right at home. The personal connections have made a lasting impression, and that's what we hope to achieve with your visit. Our goal is to help you feel comfortable and at home. After your trip, I hope you look back fondly at your stay here. The bedroom is spacious but please feel at home and use other areas of the house as needed. The bathroom is set up with clean towels for your exclusive use and the bathroom is cleaned frequently. Please feel free to use the counter for your supplies. If you need anything beyond what's provided, please let me know. Your bedroom and common areas are thoroughly cleaned just before you arrive, which is partly why I like to have your approximate arrival time. Please bear in mind, though, that the house and yard, although reasonably tidy is a functional space. I often have outdoor or indoor projects in progress and I work out of my home. Guest AccessShared entrance to the house. Large bedroom with plenty of storage space. Bathroom across the hall. Shared kitchen, living room, deck, and back yard, if you like. Interaction with GuestsWe like meeting people from all walks of life and ethnic origins, young or old. If you're into socializing, we'd be happy to have a chat. However, if you need space to yourself, that's fine too. Whatever works for you, works for us. John: I come from the cornfields of Essex County, have lived and traveled across the country, and explored both town and country. I have an affinity for nature and have had some exciting wilderness adventures. So, I can spin a yarn or two. Or, if playing music or singing is your thing, we can do that too. Maria: I'm from Naples, Italy and have travelled extensively. I have an arts background and enjoy collecting/trading glass and ceramics. I love singing, especially songs in my dialect. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is relatively new with brick homes on the street side - not many trees yet, except for our yard. However, on the back side a peaceful, little creek cuts through the farmland. The street is very quiet and gets next to no traffic. Getting AroundGetting around Leamington or going down to Point Pelee is easy from anywhere in town. You can orient yourself by thinking of Leamington as a north-south and east-west 't' or cross. North-south is Erie St. and east-west is Talbot street. We call their junction the 'four corners'. Most restaurants are on either Erie or Talbot. Other Things to NoteBreakfast: (a) People have different preferences: some like to get out or hit the road early without a breakfast here. Others prefer making their own breakfast. Some like breakfast provided by us. Please let us know what you prefer. We strive to make tasty and nutritious food, and accommodate some preferences (especially if food is not wasted later) and special needs (allergies/sensitivities) of our guests. We can prepare a variety of hearty breakfasts; for example, omelettes or other egg dishes and fresh baked bread; egg/cheese/lettuce/tomato sandwich; pancakes or waffles/fruit/yogurt; carrot cake; rhubarb cake; zucchini bread; or oatmeal porridge with fruit and yogurt. We have coffee and a some of tea on hand. We'll use produce picked fresh from our garden or local fields when available. When Maria is here, she can make an authentic Neapolitan espresso or cappuccino. Feel free to store food in the fridge or even cook your own breakfast, lunch or dinner, if you prefer that over restaurants. In case I forget to tell you: (a) Light switches are at both ends of the entrance hall and the connecting hall to your room. (b) If the outdoor light is left on for you, please turn it off when you arrive and any hall lights as well. (c) Extra pillows and blankets are in the closet. (d) If you need anything to ensure your stay is comfortable, please let us know even if it's late. Don't worry. We realize things happen when travelling. Have a relaxed time while you are here.

The SpaceThis is an old house with a tonne of character and all the amenities! The house was originally built circa 1875 and the structure remains virtually untouched. The bathroom has just been renovated. We are in the country on the lake, so expect to see some wildlife; birds, butterflies, rabbits, groundhogs, foxes, eagles I even saw a deer in the backyard one day. There are also a large selection of insects that sing beautiful songs. Although rustic, the house boasts all the comforts of home. Washer dryer, dishwasher, stove, toaster oven, coffee maker, toaster, slow cooker, stereo system, wireless internet, wool blankets and everything you need to serve dinner - pots, pans, plates and cutlery. We also supply a fresh batch of bathroom and kitchen towels upon your arrival. The backyard has a picnic table, muskoka chairs and even a firepit! Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire house as well as all of the kitchen equipment and full suite washer and dryer as well as a new dishwasher. You are also welcome to use both the front and back yard, during your stay. Interaction with GuestsI am here to discuss any issues as needed. It is important to us that your stay is comfortable and everything go smoothly, so please feel free to reach out. The NeighborhoodThe house is situated 2 blocks from the Lake Erie shore and one block away from one of the best parks in Essex County, Lakeside park. This park is quiet and rolling with a brook running through it. With bridges and paths, it is great for walks, running or riding your bike. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe, and amazing place to get a heavy night's sleep. About 10 blocks away, you'll find Kingsville's Downtown which has some of the best restaurants in Essex County. When we first bought the house, we did a blog on the area and the things to do. What a treasure! All of this we will share as part of your welcome package upon booking. Getting AroundI would recommend walking or a bicycle, since you don't have to go far - Kingsville has everything you need right at your fingertips. Although if you are interested in travelling to the National park, Windsor or Detroit, a car would be a good idea. If you are travelling to the island, the ferry dock is a 5 minute walk from the house - the service runs April 1st-December 11th. Other Things to NoteOn a case by case basis, I would like to discuss your needs, so if there is anything special you need to note, please let me know in advance.

This Mettawas cottage was a summer home for Hiram Walker's son when the Walker family owned a large resort across the street in the late XIXth century. Located near the Kingsville harbour where the ferry takes visitors to Pelee Island, we are at a short drive from Point Pelee National park and from the 17 wineries you can visit in our area. One of Our two guests rooms, the Walker room, offers a jacuzzi tub aside of a standing shower in its ensuite bathroom, a working original fireplace and a large private roof garden/terrace. Our second bedroom, the Laidlw room, offers a private sauna built in its private bathroom - not ensuite - Enjoy a flat screen TV, a sitting area as well as a desk, a closet with a fridge in each room. And if you take advantage of the outside hot tub you can enjoy some of the pleasures of a spa while staying at our B&B.; the Mettawas-end Bed. A large living room, a library, a sunny front porch, outdoor spots in a curly garden or on a welcoming backyard deck around a pond, offers several resting areas or places to serve you a gourmet breakfast at your chosen time.

The SpaceOur cottage takes full advantage of its great location on Lake Erie. There is a spacious wraparound deck with plenty of space to dine, enjoy the sun or read a good book. On rainy days the enclosed porch has lots of windows so you can relax and watch the lake kick up - great fun. On Wednesdays, weather permitting, you have a front row seat for the sail boat races. The fire pit at the edge of the water is a fantastic way to end your day. This is what living on the lake is all about! The NeighborhoodOur cottage is next door to the parking lot of Erie Shores Golf and Country Club which is mostly shielded by vegetation and a large, very quiet, pump house. This is generally a very private and peaceful spot with the tranquility of the lake. Across the street is a 18 hole professional golf course with the allure of a park. What this all means that you are in a residential area but most times you hardly know it. Getting AroundThere is a walk/bike path that runs right in front of the cottage. It's a relatively short journey down to the waterfront promenade. Here you can catch the ferry to Pelee Island (July only), get an ice cream cone, enjoy a meal or journey on to Seacliff Park to enjoy the splash pad or the beach. Point Pelee National Park is a more ambitious journey - certainly reachable by bike - and well worth the effort. The park has so much to do. The bike trails are fabulous and a trip to the tip means having the road completely to yourself as it is closed off to all traffic except the tram. Other Things to NoteWe do not provide pillows, pillowcases or towels - please bring your own. There are three window air conditioners - one in the master, one in the living room and one in a bedroom upstairs. They help with sleeping. Unfortunately, the third bedroom does not have a window that allows an a/c unit. We do provide 2 fans for that room and the small window does provide a bit of a breeze off the lake. During the day there is almost always a cool, lake breeze that blows through the house downstairs. There is a propane bbq for your use along with a fire pit at water's edge with a permit allowing open fires.
