The SpaceRoost Cottage is a spacious, open concept bungalow with vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors and floor to ceiling windows looking out to the large property on Moore Lake. The deck spans the lake side of the cottage and is a perfect place to sit and enjoy the view of the lake and the property which is surrounded by very tall trees. Roost Cottage is nestled in a calm cove on private land with 120 feet of beach front popular with small children, fishing enthusiasts, swimmers, birds and fowl. Moore Lake is a fresh water lake, you'll see minnows and fish in the clear water from the dock. The lake bottom can be rocky and porous and a variety of sizes of water shoes are available in the hall closet for those who want to wade, not swim in. We are the only sandy beach shore on the lake which is great for small children. While the lake is at first shallow it gets deep quickly past the floating dock. One canoe and 2 kayaks are included in the rental for exploring the lake and connected water systems. From our lake you have access to a vast area of little discovered, connected lakes in the Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands. There is a new floating dock which is very nice for getting into the water and for star gazing. The large outdoor fire pit is amazing for cook-outs and roasting marshmallows (burning permitted 2 hours before sun set only). There is a screened in Gazebo with a couple of rocking chairs for privacy at the water's edge. Inside, the chef's kitchen is expansive and well stocked. There is a BBQ available through sliding doors accessible from the kitchen. The large, open concept living room has a Barrymore L-shape sofa, a comfy bean bag chair and a few rocking chairs for relaxing and taking in evening movie nights or sitting by the fire. We have a large-screen TV and hundreds of movies to enjoy, boardgames and a ping pong table. The Bedrooms: from the living room, you have access to two bedrooms with a shared 3-piece bathroom. The two bedrooms in the front of the house share the master ensuite with 3-piece and steam shower. ADDITIONAL GUESTS: The cottage is best suited for 6 people. Every additional adult OR child over 1 year is considered as a guest and does cost just a little extra (please select the correct number of guests). The NeighborhoodMoore Lake is a large fresh water lake in Moore Falls. We are the only beach shore on the lake which is great for small children. The lake is very clean and populated by a number of fish sources. While the lake is at first shallow it gets deep quickly past the floating dock. The lake bottom can be rocky and a variety of sizes of water shoes are available in the hall closet for those who want to wade, not swim in. You'll see a lot of nature here. Eagles, hawks, even wild turkey roaming around. You can enjoy our patch of beach or pack a lunch and paddle through to additional lakes then hike into the Queen Elizabeth II park. We are 10 minutes from the little town of Norland which is on the Gull River and just 15 mins south of Minden where you'll found a charming small town main street, lovely river walk, a traditional butcher, well stocked grocery and hardware stores and epic Kawartha Lakes ice cream. You are 30 minutes from Haliburton for quaint shops, spas, restaurants and shopping. The famous Kinmount movie theatre and museum is 20 minutes away. From here you have access to the Ganaraska Trails as well as access to the Minden White Water Reserve for organized kayaking and rafting adventures. For the best hiking trails nearby search "Scrabble Mountain" in Moore Falls, accessible within a 4 minute drive from the cottage. For experienced Trippers, the Queen Elizabeth II park can be accessed from the lake. The park is 33,505 hectares in size and is one of the largest and least developed natural areas south of Algonquin Park. The park has a low rolling topography which is characterized by numerous rock ridges, including scenic cliffs and gorges, separating dozens of small lakes, rivers and streams. This vast area was once covered with forest and deeper soils prior to the logging era. The area is great for motorcycle enthusiasts with some of Ontario's greatest motorcycle roads and dirt bike trails in the Ganaraska to explore. Search "EatSleepRIDE" for the best motorcycle roads nearby. Getting AroundThe best way to get around is by paddle or by car. Other Things to NoteLinens are provided however please bring your beach towels and the toiletries. Welcome and we hope you have a great time!

The SpaceThe cabin is accessible all year round, however in the winter, if there is heavy snow accumulation, guests park at the farm and will be transported to the cabin by horse and sleigh. Check in/out times will therefore be more specific. A woodstove will keep you warm and as there is no hydro, you may want to bring along a cooler for perishables. Getting AroundThe cabin is a 15 minute drive from Fenelon Falls (pop. 1800) and 20 minutes from Lindsay (pop. 20,000) Other Things to NoteGuests should note that there are 2 Birchpoint Roads in Kawartha Lakes. Make sure your GPS directs you to the one northwest of Lindsay off of the Glenarm Road and not the one between Dunsford and Bobcaygeon.

Large cottage with 5 bedrooms in the main house and a boathouse with bedroom (6 Queen Size beds) plus a single mattress in Boathouse can add one more. All rooms have ceiling fans for comfort. Your family and friends can enjoy and relax by the stone fireplace on a chilly day on play volleyball and croquet on the extra large grassy front while the 'little ones' play on the swings and slides. Grill your favourite meal on either the gas or charcoal BBQ or cook in the fully renovated kitchen with wine fridge. Fully 'wired' for Satellite TV with 42" Flat Screen and Internet you are connected if you want, or just head to the Boat House dock and fish right from the deck and 'un-connect'. Perfect small sandy beach for small children to learn to play in the water and begin to swim on the shallow 300 feet of waterfront. Or... hit the deeper water off the Boathouse Deck slide for some fun. For more water fun, try the paddle-boat or small aluminium fishing boat with trolling motor. In short it has it all but mostly it is just great for relaxing and enjoying great family gatherings. The Damage Deposit is refunded on the seventh (7th) day from departure or upon earlier inspection clearance. No smoking in the cottage please, but do enjoy the decks and an evening cigar on the boathouse balcony is almost a 'must'. There is a small fishing boat in boathouse but someone in the boat must have an Ontario Boaters Licence - see boaterexam on the web. As noted, pets are allowed but they should a) be contained on property and cannot run on the road (many other dogs which causes lots of barking and dangerous with cars on the curve) or the neighbour's property and b) please do clean up after the dog and dispose of the excrement upon departure. There is a $50 additional flat fee for pets. We just ask that you please be considerate of the next guests. Excess garbage or garbage not sorted may be subject to a full or partial claim against the Damage Deposit. Please review Cottage Guide for details. Situated in the centre of Kawartha Lakes you have the best of both worlds. Quite and private on 300 feet of waterfront but only a 10 minute (max) walk to the Village of Fenelon Falls with the historic Falls and Lock 34 on the Trent-Severn Waterway. Just a 3 minute drive to a HUGE newly renovated Sobey's for a great selection groceries and "Tim's". A unique property with a large house for 'space' when needed with all amenities and services and a large grassy lawn with play set for the kids to play and enjoy. For golf enthusiasts, Byrnell Golf course is just a 2 minute drive down the road. Need some 'city life'? - head into Fenelon for some excellent coffee shops, book stores and restaurants - or... if you really crave 'city dining' - head to south to Lindsay (20 minutes) and dine at Pane Vino and enjoy their excellent wine list. Speaking of LIndsay, Ross Memorial Hospital has an excellent emergency room and THREE Orthopaedic Surgeons to fix any broken bones (unfortunately we know - hope you don't need them...).
