The SpaceThis Tiny House was built from an original Tumbleweed Tiny House design. Like a modern day version of Thoreau's cabin, this is a space that shows how you can enjoyably live with in a small footprint! While still cozy inside and next to our trees, housing construction has removed the forested area previously across the street that is mentioned in many reviews. Construction machinery starts each day except Sunday between 7 and 8:30 am and can be very loud and literally earth shaking. If you are looking to be up early and spend the day out the evenings are still peaceful and quiet. You'll be sleeping up in the loft area, like a sailboat cabin. Access is up an 10 ft ladder. Please confirm that you can safely climb the ladder (which is STRAIGHT up and down against the wall - (see photos) in your reservation request. The bed is a 10" thick Queen size memory foam mattress. Lots of electrical plugs up there! The kitchenette includes a medium sized fridge, toaster, blender, coffeemaker and microwave oven as well as dishes and glasses. There are some snacks and coffee but no meals are provided. The main space has an open closet area, radio/CD player, wire shelf unit, table, chairs and a couch for sitting (it is not suitable for sleeping, both guests must sleep in the loft). The bathroom has a full tub/shower and includes towels. It is a compact cabin water heater so showers should be done efficiently. Hairdryer in medicine cabinet. Clothes iron available on request. Staying in a Tiny House can be a transformative experience! After a couple of hours, people begin to understand what it would be like to live in a compact but comfortable cottage. Also perfect for a local base if you are doing contract work at a nearby company. Sorry, stays longer than 15 days are not available. Two guests maximum, no children under 11, no animals. To inquire or reserve, please have a fully filled out profile, including photo and follow the airbnb prompts to introduce yourself and companion, if any and the focus of your trip. We'll ask you to confirm that you have read the full listing, can provide the House Rules codeword and confirm that you can climb the ladder safely at all times during your stay. Providing that on your initial request will insure a faster reservation confirmation. Guest AccessYou have all 200 square feet to yourself! There is also a little porch with rocking chair to enjoy the fresh air. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the house next door and someone is generally around so we'll be able to interact as best suits you! We'll be available as needed. We can help you with info about the area or about the process of building a Tiny House (permitting is a hassle!) and are usually up for a Celtic music jam or board games at the slightest encouragement! The NeighborhoodOur location is extremely convenient for anyone working with the Major Tech Companies in Redmond, Kirkland and Bellevue. If the focus of your visit is the city of Seattle, please consider that there can be a LOT of traffic between here and there and be sure to consult the map to be sure you want to stay here on the Eastside. There are two bridges that lead to Seattle, the 520 has tolls. There are markets, fast food and everything you need nearby. Major housing construction adjacent to our space will mean construction noises (tractors, chainsaws, trucks) and vibration happen during daytime hours starting about anytime after 7 am, however nights will remain peaceful. The wooded area formerly in front of Tiny house (across the street) will sadly be gone but the woodsy space between our home and Tiny House will remain, hopefully as a sanctuary for the displaced fauna! Very safe and walkable/runnable with bike lanes. We are 15 min to the wineries of Woodinville, less than that to the art galleries and lakeside dining of downtown Kirkland. Downtown Bellevue shopping is 20 min away and Seattle isn't far but timing is traffic dependent. Getting AroundThere is parking for one car (or two small cars) right in front on the gravel driveway. Sound Transit Metro Bus line 238 stops at the end of our street but public transportation is not fast or frequent. A car is really a necessity here. Uber car sharing service is great for small local trips. Rush hour traffic is a major factor on the freeways and bridges leading into Seattle from here in the suburbs so please factor that into your trip planning. Other Things to NoteBetween our house and Tiny House is a glen with Big Leaf Maples and firs. It is being restored to fully native vegetation - a wild space where you might see deer, barred owls, rabbits, raccoons, chipmunks, woodpeckers, Steller jays and other critters returning to the land. In spring and summer, it is a verdant wild space. In fall, the colors are beautiful. In winter, the leaves are gone, the plants brown; you see the neighbor's junky trailers, stay warm inside and plan for spring!
