The SpaceIt's a Japanese carpenter's house. Located on a local shopping street next to the Daitoku-ji. This listing is shared space and for traveler only. The house is old (~100years old) but still in good condition cause of Joji (the carpenter sensei) and his family. Please treat the house with respect. On the 1st floor you gonna find ジョー工務店 JOE KOUMUTEN Tachinomi. It is a Japanese-style bar, mostly for standing and chatting. Please feel free to grab a drink or two (no charge for standing). Besides the tachinomi you also find on the 1st floor at the backyard the kitchen, share outdoor area, asian-style restroom, bathroom and shower. We have four private guest rooms on the 2nd floor. As well as one western-style restroom, sink and fridge. If you need any assistance or help, please do not hesitate to contact us. The NeighborhoodThe house is located next to a local shopping street. You will find some butcher, fishmonger, greengrocer, bakery, 100 yen shops, local restaurants, handcrafted item shops and more. Also located around our house you're gonna find by easy walking various temples and shrines. After 6:00 PM almost all of the shops are closed, so it will be very quiet. Getting AroundBus stop “Higashitakanawa-cho” 5 minutes walk to take the bus number 9 to Nijo Castle and Kyoto Station. Bus stop “Daitokuji-mae” 15 minutes walk to take the bus number 205 to get to various tourist destinations Daitokuji Temple, Kinkakuji Temple, Hirano Shrine, Kitano Shrine, Nishi-honganji, Higashi-honganji, Shimogamo-jinja, Kyoto-gyoen and many more. Subway station “Kita-oji” 15 minutes walk to access the Kyoto subway. Other Things to NoteKyoto still has a little of the old days, therefore with many houses without bathroom. But we managed to install a shower on the 1st floor. There are many public baths within walking distance. By 2 minutes walking for the closest and up to 20 minutes by walking to a popular traditional Japanese public bath.
