The SpaceThe main house provides room for a maximum of three couples (six grown ups) and there is an extra bed for a toddler or small child plus a cradle for a baby. In the little house next to the main house is a bunk bed for a maximum of three kids, or two grown ups who don't mind sleeping in a less comfortable bed.
Downstairs you’ll find a roomy kitchen with a kitchen island. There’s an old wood stove next to an induction stove and electrical oven. A dishwasher and miscellaneous kitchen appliers are provided for. The kitchen grands access to a large balcony with a large outdoor table.
Through the kitchen there’s a spacious dining room. A cupboard holds all the china. A chair for baby is available.
On the other side of the kitchen you can access the living room with a huge couch, an old heating stove (it doesn’t work), a TV/DVD player connected to Apple TV (but no cable to the Swedish TV-channels) - so be sure to bring your favourite films and/or your Netflix log-in!
The last room on this floor is the Glass Veranda - the place you will spend your evenings in. It holds a lovely view of the main boat route, literally just a couple of feet away! The perfect room to have a drink, read a book or just look at the sea contemplating life ;)
In the sea side hallway you will find a toilet and the door to go out, and in the main hallway you’ll find the door to go out at the island side. There is also the staircase that lead you upstairs and a cleaning cupboard and the pantry.
On the top floor you will find a master bedroom which provides room for two grown ups and a small child. The master bedroom is connected to a roof deck with beautiful sea view. The two extra bedrooms on the upper floor are perfect for two couples. There is also a bathroom situated there with a toilet, sink and shower. A big hallway with several closets filled with bedlinen and towels and room for your clothes is connected to the staircase leading you down again.
Going out from the back door on the main floor you will find stairs that lead you to the sea and two private decks. Close to the main building and the decks, is an extra little house situated right next to the sea, in which you can find a bunk bed for two people (preferably kids, the bed is not ideal for grown ups). On the island side of the house is a fenced garden with a grass lawn and rock formation.
From the garden (and also through a small hatch from the hallway on the main floor) you can enter the cellar where you will find a third bathroom with a bath tub, toilet and sink. Furthermore in the cellar you will find the washing/drying machine, the heating system and various outdoor attributes, such as life jackets, toys and bikes.
Next to the garden entrance is a parking spot for one car, but more cars an be parked on the square when there’s room enough. Guest AccessGuests have all access, but please do not smoke inside. Interaction with GuestsOf course we are available for any help during your stay. You can reach us via email or simply phone us. The NeighborhoodKällö-Knippla is a quiet island, a perfect place to flee from busy life and enjoy the sea and nature. The island is part of an archipelago of uncountable small islands which you can visit. Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city is two ferries and a little drive away (40 minutes to an hour). On the island there are some activities like a tennis- and jeu des boules court and midget golf. There is a yacht harbour with two restaurants (with license to serve alcohol) during the summer. On the north side of the island is The Love Path, a small hiking path which will guide you among the rocks and seaside and provides several great BBQ places.
There is one small supermarket on the island. Two larger supermarkets are situated on the neighbouring Island of Öckerö and Hönö. On the mainland, just a few kilometres from the ferry dock, is a shopping centre with a huge supermarket.
NOTE: during the autumn and winter Källö-Knippla can be even more quiet because of the absence of tourists. The restaurants are closed during that time. The supermarket, however, is open. When the sea is rough and the wind is blowing hard or when snow covers the island - it adds an extra dimension during these quiet times, we think. Then could be the perfect time for a retreat and to write that book you always wanted to. Getting AroundKällö-Knippla is accessible by car. Coming from the highway 155 through Gothenburg you need to follow the route towards the island harbours. Then you need to take the first ferry from Lilla Varnholmen to Öckerö/Hönö (duration 12 minutes), the larger islands of the archipelago. After that ferry you’ll be driving through Öckerö towards Burö Färjelage where the second ferry will bring you to you Källö-Knippla (duration 5-10 minutes). The ferries are free of charge.
The time table for the ferry to and from Knippla island can be found here (Swedish only); (URL HIDDEN)
The time table for the ferry from the main land to Hönö/Öckerö can be found here (Swedish only); (URL HIDDEN)
Driving your car around the island is not advised because everything can be reached by foot. A lot of roads are dead ends.
To reach Källö-Knippla, public transport is also an option. A bus will drive the same route as described above, but it will go not further then Bürö Färjelage. If you arrive by plane you will have to take the airport shuttle from Landvetter Airport to the Nils Ericson’s Terminal in the city centre. From there you can take bus 290 or 291. Please check (URL HIDDEN) when planning your trip or for more info.
Gothenburg has two airports, Landvetter Airport which is the main airport and Göteborg City Airport which is the smaller one (Ryanair). It takes about an hour from the smaller up to an hour and a half from the main airport to reach Källö-Knippla (depending on the connections of the ferries) from those airports.
