The SpaceKoh Mak Garden Villa has four bedrooms (excluding maid's quarters), five bathrooms and stands in extensive, beautifully tended gardens bursting with tropical fruits and flowers. There is a large tiled pavilion and badminton court in the garden and a swimming beach just 250m away. Chai and Jumpee, our resident housekeeper/gardener couple, lovingly and tirelessly care for the property, do all the cleaning and washing for guests. The two-wing design, with seven verandas, mean privacy and quiet for even relatively large groups. With double beds in each of the 4 bedrooms, bunk-beds in the kids room, and space to lay additional mattresses in each bedroom or the common areas, Koh Mak Garden Villa comfortably accommodates up to 12 people. The house has a fully equipped kitchen, good internet connections, table football, video games. Guest AccessKoh Mak is a small island in the Gulf of Thailand loved for its unspoiled natural environment, quiet peaceful atmosphere and a relaxed pace of life that is reminiscent of Koh Samui or Phuket 30 years ago. There are only 800 residents living on Koh Mak’s 16 square kilometers, and very few cars. There are plenty of things to do on the island, but the most popular is simply relaxing, slowing right down and soaking up the ambience. And eating. It is great place to read or work. The island is family friendly – almost no traffic and none of the "beer bars" that are a problem in some other top Thai destinations. The island does not allow jet-skis. If you are looking for tranquility, you will find it on Koh Mak. Activities include scuba diving and snorkeling – there are three dive shops on the island. You can get a Thai massage on the beach or at one of the shops in the village, visit the Koh Mak Museum and discover the history of the island, or learn Thai cooking. Boats are easily hired to take you to some of the many other unspoiled islands in the chain of which Koh Mak is a part. In the high season, there is a regular speedboat service to the neighbouring island of Koh Chang, the third biggest in Thailand. Between the months of March and May the island is in the throes of its hot season. Clear blue skies with very little rain and even less wind mean high temperatures and an abundance of slowing down to deal with the heat. Moving from June to October the south west monsoon blows. Temperatures remain warm and the winds of the south west monsoon bring some relief from higher temperatures but with intermittent rain showers that can be sudden and dramatic yet rarely last longer than an hour. The final change in climate on Koh Mak comes between November and February, locally known as the cool season, when the north east monsoon blows slightly cooler air with very little rain if any at all.

There are 10 bars and restaurants in easy walking distance from the house; and a live music venue that plays reggae style music (Thai style). Ball or Oi will show you the nearest supermarkets to the house (one is around 100 metres away and open until late) and good for UHT milk, beer, soft drink, and canned goods. On the front near Monkey Island resort you will find a supermarket that sells meat, vegetables and fruits. Getting AroundHiring a moped would be the best idea though as there are great places all over the island (at most 4 miles way) but better to be self sufficient, although there are taxi companies on the island if you would prefer that. Other Things to NoteWe love the island so please ask any questions concerning anything you may want to know and we will try our best to fill you in.

The SpaceRemote but accessible, getting to 4 Rivers Floating Lodge is your opportunity to acclimatise yourself to the country, the region and its always smiling, welcoming people. The resort is ideally situated in Tatai, next to the Thai border halfway between Bangkok and Phnom Penh (via Koh Chang). Highway 48 cuts straight through the jungle, with dramatic views of the magnificent Cardamom Mountains. Tatai is 20 minutes by car from Koh Kong City, four hours from Phnom Penh or three hours from Sihanoukville. You embark at the steps of the bridge in the village of Tatai; in our boat the trip downstream the bridge to the resort takes less than 10 minutes with our speed boat or 25 minutes with our cruising boat. If eco-tourism conjures up visions of uncomfortable beds, leaky tents and songs round a campfire, 4 Rivers is not for you. Our vision for the perfect vacation in unspoilt surroundings is to offer top-of-the-line luxury in harmony with Mother Nature, to give her a chance to impress you with an ever-changing kaleidoscope of colours and images. With their origins in the safari veldt of Africa's game parks, each of the 12 double and twin-bed tented villas is, at 45sqm, a space age wonder combining luxury with practicality. Cocooned in comfort and surrounded by top-quality furnishings and decoration, each villa has flat-screen television, Wi-Fi and mini-bar. Not that DVD movies, messages and recorded sound will be any match for the natural wonders you will witness from your private extra-large sun-lounger balcony where you can enjoy an afternoon snack or a sunset cocktail. Relax and let your senses take over with the rustling sound of a small creature in the tangled undergrowth on the shoreline, a flash of colour as a bird rises out of the jungle and the cymbals, bells and musical notes of a traditional roneat ek (xylophone) blowing in the wind. Start your day waking up to the sights and muted sounds of the Cardamom mountains. As the mist clears over the water, there is little to disturb the natural calm other than the plop and splash of a feeding fish, the startled cry of a far-off bird and the growl of a predator returning home after a kill. Away from the stress and pressure of everyday life, 4 Rivers is the ultimate vacation hideaway where you quickly forget where you came from. Kayaking down river with or without our experienced local guide, explore the mangrove waterways that reach back into the jungle, team up with some locals and try your hand at fishing for your supper. Excursions can be arranged to Tatai Waterfall, Koh Kong on the border with Thailand, local markets in nearby villages or discover the customs, natural cures and beliefs of the Cambodians that have lived in the Cardamom mountains and its forests for generations. Or maybe it’s spoil-yourself time for a refreshing swim in the river or just lounge by the restaurant terasse and its amazing view for the sunset.
