The house is located 4 mins from Kutsukawa station (Kintetsu line), and 10-15 mins from the Shinden and Joyo stations (JR Rail Nara line).
From my place:
- 30 mins to Nara and Uji Byodoin
- 50 mins to Osaka Umeda
- 75 mins to Kansai airport by car (84km) 120 mins by train (1670yen-3730yen)
I recommend the Kansai pass as it provides access to the Kansai area: Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Kobe, Wakayama, Shiga. It is only available to non-Japanese visitors. If you are only visiting Kyoto during your stay, you do not need a Kansai pass.
If you come to Kyoto by Shinkansen, the JR pass is the best option, and provides access to all JR transportation.
KANSAI PASS: 2day 4000Yen, 3day 5200Yen)
This pass enables you to ride on subways, private railways and buses throughout the Kansai district. As well as enabling you to tour Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto, it lets you visit Nara, Wakayama and Koyasan. The pass can be used on non-consecutive days during its period of validity (example: Mon, Wed and Fri in the case of a 3-day ticket). One day is counted as the duration from the first train to the last train in a day. (Not 24 hours from the time when you purchase it.) For more detail, please see their web site. Other Things to NoteAs we are located between Kyoto and Nara city, you have perfect access to Uji Byoudoin (world heritage).
If you would like to drop off your luggage early, there is a secure key box at the front entrance. You may early check in without me.
