The SpaceKaï Papaï is set amidst enchanting greenery on which the fiery sun rays reflect their golden tones. On the bamboos that sway rhythmically to the silent melody of the aromatic marine breeze, dozens of colorful birds twit and chat lightheartedly. As humming birds begin their daily rounds of the flowers the picking of fruit for breakfast starts. Depending on the season, you will find a selection of exquisite fruits on your breakfast table, ranging from juicy mangoes and refreshing papayas to bright yellow star fruits or the most palatable passion fruit in the Tropics. All these wonders are organically grown with love and care by our nature-oriented family on the villa's half-acre plot. Located on the top floor of an alluring blue-roofed villa, the accommodation is composed of two bedrooms. The larger bedroom sleeps up to five people and offers a comfortable queen-sized bed, a double sofa bed and a single bed. The second bedroom, which is slightly smaller sleeps up to three people and offers a double sofa bed and a single bed. The top floor also includes a spacious kitchen and bathroom and a large terrace. Wi-fi connection and a laptop are available. The soft tropical breeze naturally ventilates all the airy ample rooms. We also supply all the duvets, pillows and extra blankets necessary for a good night's sleep. The bathroom includes a full size tub where you can indulge in a fragrant, relaxing bath while you admire the lush trees from the handmade jalousie windows. An outside shower with warm water is also available for nature-lovers who like being fresh and ready to hike by daybreak. You will be provided with fluffy towels and toiletries so your luggage will be as light as possible. The kitchen is well equipped with a two-ring hob, a microwave, a fridge and a freezer. Behind the masking curtains, you will find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you may need to prepare savory dishes, unless you prefer to go to the restaurant nearby or ask us about the possibility of having us a vegetarian meal for you. Those of you who will stay with us for a week-end will have the possibility of adding some peps to their tropical journey by joining a one-hour complimentary zumba class on Saturday afternoon. Horse-riding, boat trips or hiking tours can be arranged on demand. The house is located in a beautiful area not far from the Pitons, in between the beaches of Choiseul, Piaye and Vieux-Fort. Our guests can also use the secluded beach down the road for swimming. For waterfall lovers, the neighboring parish of River Doree brags a silver-threaded stream which tumbles along at the bottom of a canyon 150 feet deep. A bridge, barely 20 feet wide, crosses it from side to side. If you stand on the bridge and drop a stone, several seconds go before you hear the splash as it hits the water. Within walking distance also lies the Saltibus Waterfall Trail, a two-hour trek through a verdant, shady, rainforest at the end of which you will be rewarded by a swim in a series of waterfalls. Further North, the pearl-black sand beach of Sabwisha offers the tranquility of the Caribbean sea next to the village of Choiseul. On your way back, you could also visit the Maison créole, a charming little artifact museum. Buses to Vieux-Fort and Soufrière pass quite regularly on the main road. The waiting time is shorter in the morning and in the evening though. There are no buses on Sunday and public holidays. Airport transfers by taxi cost about 18€ from Hewanorra International Airport (located in the vicinity of Vieux-Fort) and 63€ from Vigie Airport (located in the vicinity of Castries) Rates include the first morning's breakfast - tea, coffee, milk, juice, cereals, fruits, toasts and jams plus a pack of basic cooking supplies of oil, salt, sugar, etc. All bedrooms are equipped with 220 and 110V European, American and English plugs. The rooms are cleaned and the bed linen and towels are changed once a week. Note: If you would like to pay a smaller fee and would not mind sharing the kitchen and bathroom, you might want to have a look at our other listings under "Large room with Piton & sea view" and "Airy Loft w/Piton&Caribbean seaview". Henry has just built a beautiful house, facing Gros Piton on the edge of the magnificent River Doree ravine. A great place to stay and visit the Soufriere area if you have a rental car. The apartment has 1 large bedroom with a queen-sized bed and also a single bed and a fully tiled bathroom with hot water. It is insect-screened with fans but the ravine breezes normally keep it cool. Cable TV and free wireless are provided. There is a fully-equipped kitchen. What makes the apartment special is a huge balcony facing Gros Piton and looking inland up River Doree to the main rain forest. And on clear days the volcano in Saint Vincent can be seen! Evenings spent on the balcony are really special! Henry can provide breakfast for arriving guests and also leave groceries in your fridge. He is a great Creole chef and always cooks more than he can eat so you can expect a few tasty dishes from time to time! No smoking is allowed in the apartment but is no problem on the balcony. Henry also has La Panache holiday apartments in the north of the island, Gros Islet. Normally Roger will be there to help you. We are located about 200m from the Vieux Fort -Soufriere highway, on the south bank of River Doree in a small community of about 7 houses. It is a rural farming area with great views. Guests will normally need a rental vehicle to stay with us. In general, unlike the north, a rental vehicle is essential to visit the Soufriere and Pitons area. If you wish to stay without a rental vehicle please send us a message first so that we can explain how it would be! We can put breakfast items into your fridge or breakfast can be provided on request. Major supermarkets are in Vieux Fort so you may need to stock up but we can shop for your arrival if you let us know what you require. Dining is available in the Soufriere area and Vieux Fort but the apartment balcony at night is pretty amazing! And with 24 hours notice, Henry can prepare a special Creole dinner. Generally very quiet, the Tete Morne mother and father's group have a monthly country and western dance on Sundays - worth a visit! Saint Lucia looks small but it is very mountainous and roads are not perfect. Guests arriving at the Castries airport at night should spend the first night in the north and make the scenic 2 hour drive south safely the next day. Because of our rural location it is more or less essential for guests to have a rental vehicle. Buses do run to Soufriere and Vieux Fort during the day but not on Sundays or holidays and shopping has to be done in Vieux Fort. No beaches , restaurants or shops are within easy walking distance. (A few bars though!) A taxi from Hewanorra airport is about US$40 - coming by bus is not easy as buses going past the airport are usually full. In general to visit all the beauty spots in south-west Saint Lucia private transport is essential. We strongly recommend you rent a 4 wheel drive jeep, the most economical being Suzuki jimny. This will enable you to safely explore this beautiful area. The apartment is located in a rural area about 100m off the Vieux Fort to Soufriere highway. A rental car is required for most guests to be able to get around, especially to visit interesting places, although there are some daytime buses going to Soufriere and Vieux Fort. It is an ideal to spot to visit all the attractions of he Soufriere area, well-documented elsewhere on the internet. Hewanorra airport is about 30 minutes drive. For beaches there is the wonderful beach in the close by fishing village of Laborie and the wind-swept Vieux Fort beach, great for kitesurfing. And teh wonderful Balenbouche Estate is 5 minutes away - a small charge is made for entry. And the best rain forest trail at Descartiers, Micoud is not too far. Supermarkets are in Vieux Fort and there is fine dining around Soufriere. Closer to home there are local places selling drinks, roadside food and music - best to check with Henry which is the best place to go. And not to forget teh magnificent walks along the River D'Oree ravine

Many local attractions, including the famous St Lucia pitons, volcano, waterfalls, snorkeling, hiking and restaurants are just within a 15 - 30 minute drive. The nearby village of Laborie offers a beautiful calm bay for swimming and several small local places to eat. One restaurant is within a 5 minute walk from the estate. Getting AroundWe suggest renting a car for at least a few days, which we are happy to help arrange. You can also get around with a combination of taxis and public buses, or you can book an organized tour through us. The privately owned mini-public buses run 6 am - 6 pm every day except Sundays and holidays, and do not have a schedule. They operate between towns and villages like collective taxis, and the fare is set. The average wait time is 20 minutes, and you can get on and off anywhere along the road. Other Things to NoteOur buildings do not have air conditioning or screens, as they are built in a tropical, traditional and eco-friendly style. Balenbouche Estate is most suitable for nature lovers and travelers wishing to experience authentic island life.

Other Things to NoteOur buildings do not have air conditioning or screens, as they are built in a tropical, traditional and eco-friendly style. Balenbouche Estate is most suitable for nature lovers and travelers wishing to experience authentic island life. Our family lives on property and we have several friendly but watchful dogs. Mosquitoes are present everywhere on the island but not a big problem especially if you come between November and June, use repellent and slight long sleeves clothing, and sleep under the mosquito nets at night. A flashlight and refillable water bottle is also useful to bring along (we have a water filter). Beach towels are provided!
