The SpaceThis 500 square-foot garden level suite is completely private and includes:
1. There are actually two bedrooms for those who need a second bedroom but airbnb won't let me say that unless I am offering the whole house! We don't expect more than two people to stay in one bedroom. Bedroom #1 has a Queen-sized pillow-top mattress and padded mattress cover, down comforter and both down and foam pillows to accommodate any preference. Guests have commented on the comfort of both the bed and the bedding. The bedroom includes a wall-to-wall closet with lots of hangars, extra blanket and pillow, a space heater and a clothes hamper. There is also a bathrobe if you need one and forgot yours. Need more than one bedroom? Bedroom #2 also has a queen-sized bed and is available for an additional $10 per night. Whoever sleeps in that bedroom gets to share it with a treadmill. It's the extra bedroom/workout room!
2. The family room has a 51-inch Hi Def TV, fridge, wet bar, coffee maker, K-cup coffee maker, toaster and microwave. If you wake up at 5:00 AM and want to make yourself a cup of coffee and watch TV, no one upstairs will hear you!
We have satellite TV and a DVR so you can record and watch your favorite shows.
There is WiFi for convenient internet access and you are also welcome to use our printer/fax/copier.
3. Full, private bath with a spa tub that includes jacuzzi jets and a shower. The bathroom has a cabinet stocked with anything you might have forgotten including toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, shaving cream, shampoo, crème rinse, etc. Supplies also include a hair dryer, curling iron and diffuser for the curly haired!
Do you like to walk? We have lots of open space with trails for walking right behind the house.
It's just a short walk from our house to the City of Lafayette Rec Center (1200 steps according to my pedometer). The Rec Center includes all the usual exercise equipment, plus a large pool, a "river walk" with a current that you can walk with or against, a kiddie pool and two jacuzzis, racquetball and basketball courts, locker rooms and showers. No membership is required; you can pay by the visit and still enjoy all of the facilities and equipment.
Within a mile or so of our house: a full sized grocery store, library, two coffee shops, Wal-Mart, Chili's restaurant and several local restaurants. Old town Lafayette which has shops, restaurants an ice cream store and art studios is within walking distance.
If you are having coffee at the little table on the front porch or n our deck, you will probably be entertained by the rabbits and squirrels running back and forth and up and down the trees.
We have a ten-year old, friendly Chocolate Lab. She can be very enthusiastic in her greeting because Labs think everyone is their new best friend. She won't jump on you and calms down completely within a couple of minutes of your arrival. She does not go downstairs (unless invited by a guest) and has NEVER been on the downstairs couch or beds. However, if you are absolutely NOT a dog person, this may not be the best listing for you.
Speaking of stairs, there are 14 stairs down to the suite; seven stairs to the landing and seven more to get downstairs. There is no direct access to the suite other than the stairs. If stairs are a problem for you, this would not be a good place to stay. :(
Unlike some other listings, I don't charge a cleaning fee, make you pay a security deposit or sign a rental agreement.
Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check out is at 11:00 AM. This is can be VERY flexible based on whether or not other guests are leaving or arriving on the same day you get here or depart. Sorry, but we are unable to accommodate guests checking in after approximately 9:00 PM. If you are flying, your plane needs to arrive at DIA no later than 7:30 (ish) for you to get here by 9:00 PM. However, once you arrive and check in, we will give you a key to the house so you can come and go at any time of the day or night.
Very quiet area and even more so at night.
Convenient street parking just across from our house.
We live about 9 miles from Boulder. It's an easy drive from here and usually takes 15-20 minutes. We are between Boulder and DIA so if you are flying in or out, you are 15-20 minutes closer to DIA!
We enjoy having guests and will do everything we can to make you feel comfortable while you are here.
Our neighborhood is extremely quiet. Very few children live here and the only traffic is from residents, because the street going in and out is not a through street.
Downtown Lafayette is an easy walk from here and there is nearby bus service to and from Boulder.
If you are visiting someone in the area and want them to check us out before you commit to a reservation, they are welcome to schedule a tour of the suite with us. Guest AccessIn addition to the suite downstairs, you may use our kitchen and laundry room with washer and dryer. We will also share our laundry soap and dryer sheets! Interaction with GuestsThere is no private entrance so when you leave and return we will greet you and say goodbye to you. After that it's up to the guest. We have been invited downstairs for a glass of wine and have invited guests upstairs to have dinner with us. Other guests come and go and we hardly see them. Whatever the guests want is okay with us. The NeighborhoodOur street loops in and out of our little development and is not on the way to anywhere else, so it's very quiet here. Our neighbors are also very quiet. Also the view of open space from our deck is one of the reasons we bought the house! You are welcome to sit on our deck and enjoy the view. Getting AroundThere are buses that go from here to Boulder. I can get bus schedules ahead of your visit if you think you might want to take the bus. It's about a 1/2 mile walk to the bus stop. Other Things to NoteThe suite is very clean and while you are here, I clean as follows: Trash emptied daily. On a weekly basis, I wash the bedding, towels, washcloths; clean the bathroom and wet bar area; vacuum all rooms.
