Kenya Wildlife Estate, adjoining Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The house is tastefully furnished with a mix of furniture made from old sailing dhows and from local reclaimed cedar. Even the curtains and dishes are made locally. There are four bedrooms; one with a king-size bed, two with queen-size beds and one with two twin beds and child's bed. There are four ensuite bathrooms and one on the main floor; all have showers. The house features two large balconies upstairs and a large covered patio area on the main floor. There is a fully stocked kitchen, including a washing machine. All you have to bring is your food and drinks; everything else is provided. During the day, you will see impala and zebra walking by the house. And at night you will often hear the roar of lions in the distance coming from Ol Pejeta. If you've never heard lions at night, it's something to behold and I never get tired of it. There is a clubhouse for the estate which includes a pool and is just a ten minute walk from our house. The grounds are safe and secure, regular security patrols. Guest AccessGuests are required to have their own vehicles. Please note that our house is only accessible by 4WD vehicles during the rainy season. Lewa Safari Camp has a stunning location within Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, with outstanding game viewing, and spectacular views to Mt. Kenya to the south and arid lowlands to the north. Each tent has a thatched roof, verandah and full en suite bathroom, very much in the 'Lewa' style. The central areas have exquisite gardens with a large sunny verandah and swimming pool to enjoy during the day, and cosy log fires in the lounge and dining room for the more chilly evenings. The camp is based within the private 65,000 acre wildlife conservancy of the Lewa Wilderness Trust. The conservancy is home to about 10 percent of Kenya's black rhino population, and the single largest population of Grevy's zebra in the world. Lewa re-invests all the profits generated from tourism ( including profits from Lewa Safari Camp ) into its core programmes. When you visit Lewa, you will help thousands of people from different backgrounds and cultures to improve their lives, and give their children a future, at the same time as ensuring Africa's wildlife has a stable home. Situated on the northern edge of the Laikipia plateau, Ol Malo House is a new addition to the region. The house is nestled into a rugged escarpment looking out across the time-honored lands of Kenya’s Northern Frontier District. These miles of dense thorn bush are favoured by the shy, elusive antelope from which the house takes its name, “the place of the Greater Kudu”. An ancient land inhabited by wildlife and peoples of a time long ago, undisturbed and living by the rhythm of nature. An ancient land inhabited by wildlife and peoples of a time long ago, undisturbed and living by the rhythm of nature. For accommodating exclusive groups, or families, the Francombes’ have built a six-bedroom house. The hub of the house is a large and beautiful sitting and dining room with open fireplaces encircled by three en-suite double bedrooms. Separate cottages create a further three double bedrooms: each private and comfortable cottage has arch windows and doors, en-suite bathrooms, and decor inspired by the area’s wild landscape, local flora and the life and culture of the Samburu people. Lighting handmade by the Samburu women creates a warm ambience and welcoming atmosphere. A flagstone path leads to a large open area overlooking the infinity pool, fringed by Drasina palms and this incredible land’s wide-open vistas – perfect for al fresco dining. A barbecue area creates a wonderful place in which to end the day under a star-studded African sky. Ol Malo Nomad takes you one step further to explore the mountains, painted valleys, deserts and Kenya’s best kept secrets. Our adventures are varied and tailor made; from exploring by helicopter and fishing vast lakes, to trekking on foot, horse or camel with mobile camps into the unknown. Ol Malo Nomad also offers guests the opportunity to get more involved and support the Samburu eco-system through the Samburu Trust by walking with the Samburu people to secure their land, its wildlife and their shared future.
