The SpaceEnjoy our cabin, the "Loon's Nest", on Lake Clear, just 10 miles from Saranac Lake. Located on Rt. 30 in Lake Clear, there is easy access to lots of outdoor fun and adventure. Cabin has one bedroom and 1.5 baths. Full bath has a tub/shower combo, half-bath has a stacking washer/dryer. Bedroom has a Queen sized Select Comfort bed with memory foam top, a sliding glass door to a small deck with a view of the lake. Full size comfortable futon on enclosed porch can be closed off for privacy. Sofa in Living room folds out into a full sized bed. Kitchen is small, but well equipped, basic spices, condiments and all kitchen utensils provided. Gas Grill is on the deck. We have basic cable, a DVD player, MP3 player/radio and Wi-Fi. This is a fully insulated and centrally heated home, we lived here year round for three years while building our current home. There are books to browse and a large mounted map to help you plan your adventures and lots of brochures and guides with things to do and places to go. We are five minutes from the St. Regis Canoe area boat launch, Paul Smith's Adirondack interpretive Center with hiking trails when there is no snow, snowshoeing and skiing when there is snow, and activities 10 minutes away. It is 15 minutes to Saranac Lake, 30 to Lake Placid and 25 minutes to Tupper Lake. In the Winter the train tracks in front of the cabin turn into a snowmobile route when the snow is deep enough. It isn't very busy, and makes a great cross country ski and snowshoe route. There are backcountry ski trails nearby. The Paul Smith's VIC has groomed and skier-packed trails, and frequently has more snow than Mt. Van Hovenberg ski area. Whiteface Mountain and Titus Mountain are each about 45 minutes away. Whether it's relaxing and catching up on your reading, watching the beautiful lake, sunsets, and surrounding forests, exploring Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Lake Placid, Olympic venues and the High Peaks, antiquing, shopping, or just listening to the haunting call of the loons, this cabin is a great place to venture out from - or just stay put! Catch a play at the local Pendragon Theater, or events at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. You'll find gift and craft shops, Farmer's markets, art galleries, antiques stores, plenty of restaurants and some of the best golf in the Northeast. This is not an isolated cabin, there are neighbors across the street, and it is right on Rt. 30. The speed limit is 40 MPH. The road is quiet in the evening and at night. It's not a busy road by suburban or city standards. In the Winter when the plow goes by (not late at night unless it is snowing) it does shake the house a bit! Our lake front is accessed by walking over railroad tracks, there are steps up to the tracks, and down to the lake front. The train tracks are not currently in use save for the occasional NYS DOT truck going by, and in the warm months a daily trip of rail bikes, with the Rail Explorers, go by. We have no dock or mooring, nor is there anywhere to launch a boat that can't be hand carried. There is no public boat launch on our lake, which makes it pretty quiet. Boats are available for rent in Saranac Lake for use on the Saranac chain of lakes, which are close by if you'd like to be out on a boat with a motor, and it's a beautiful trip. We have good swimming at our site, but not a big beach. If you want the beach experience there is a nice one with lots of sand and sun at the other end of the lake, only a 2 mile drive or paddle. In the Winter we clear snow from the parking area, walkway and decks prior to your arrival. Once you are here you may need to shovel the walkway, and the parking spots where the plow deposits snow. If there is a big storm while you are here we will come and help you dig out if needed. A snowblower is provided for your use. Linens and towels are provided. Guest AccessThe entire cabin excluding the basement. The shed under the deck has chairs, paddles and life jackets, and fire starter. There is a row boat, kayak and canoe for your use, and a fire ring in the yard. Interaction with GuestsWe will meet you when you arrive, give you the key, show you a few things and answer any questions you might have. Then we leave you to enjoy your stay, checking in by email or text to make sure all is well. We live only a few miles away, and can be easily reached if anything is needed. By prior arrangement we can be available for dog walks, hikes, paddling or snowshoe outings. The NeighborhoodThe lake is the best thing about our neighborhood. Neighbors keep to themselves, most are year round residents. In the summer months a nearby rental cabin has their beach near ours, and you might meet their guests. You can walk down to the Lake Clear outlet and look for otters and fish from the bridge. In winter you can ski and snowshoe on the railroad tracks right out the door. Getting AroundNo public transit here. Adirondack International Airport is right up the road, direct flights from Boston's Logan airport come in 4 times daily. We can pick you up and take you to the airport if needed. Other Things to NoteThough we clean the cabin between users, dogs do spend time in the cabin. Dogs allowed only with prior approval, 2 dogs maximum, must be at least 2 years old.

Three Trees Camp LLC is located on an 8 acre secluded parcel on Upper Saranac Lake. It is at the end of a three mile shared driveway with the closest house 1/2 mile away and is surrounded almost 300 degrees by water, having over 2000 ft. frontage on the lake (Markham Point) with a large sandy swimming area suitable for young children as well as adults. Several docks provide seating for easy conversation, listening to the loons, watching a pair of nesting bald eagles or sunrise and sunset viewing. It is an ideal getaway for an extended family or large group. This is the first time several weeks has become available as other rental periods have been rented by the same families for over 20 years. The property has five separate sleeping cabins, a main house and annex with bedrooms, a kitchen and family room building, a utility building, a recreational cabin with bar and an enclosed boathouse among first growth towering pine trees surrounding the property. There are beds for 26 people (see listing below) some with shared baths. The general atmosphere of the camp is rustic, cozy and inviting. It is simple yet offers all the conveniences of daily vacation living. Since the buildings are mostly all separate, families may enjoy their own space without noise and intrusions. The camp’s unique charm is the quiet it offers while surrounded by nature yet the ability and easy access to outdoors recreation. Visitors can relax or exercise or socialize—it is all here. The camp offers an unfettered access to nature and is ideal for multi-generational family gatherings, offering the possibility of kids going to bed early and adults to stay up later. Upper Saranac Lake is an ideal fishing impound with several record breaking lake trout and bass caught over the years. The camp is located in the heart of the Adirondack wilderness with hundreds of hiking trails and mountain climbs only minutes away. Lake Placid is 35 minutes away and has many summer events and the 'best shopping area' in northern New York. MEALS Guests provide their own meals. There is a buoy marked area to prevent motor boats from approaching on this side. A raft is anchored within easy distance from shore. There is a sand box and seating area as well, allowing this area to be ideal for youngsters and babies. The prevailing sun is on this side. The North side has the boat house and canoe/kayak storage. The water is deeper here yet is still shallow along the shore. The dock area is ideal for reading quietly or swimming in the protected bay. There is another floating raft on the north side within swimming distance of the dock. The front porch, also overlooking the lake, is the main gathering area with plenty of seating and two bench swings that are always in high demand. There is no poison ivy in the Adirondacks which makes hiking in the woods more enjoyable. There are also no signs of ticks so that dogs are safe to wander as well. Hiking and climbing is a major attraction in the Adirondacks with countless peaks and trails to choose from. Upper Saranac Lake is a fairly protected body of water with many bays and shallows, thereby making canoeing and kayaking safe and accessible. Again, there are countless ponds and waterways within easy distance. Guide books on hiking and canoeing/kayaking are stored in the Main House and various bedrooms. There are life vests available along with tubes and other water toys. Several kayaks and canoes are provided.
