The SpaceFour friends have spent years redoing one of the original logging camp houses that was delivered by barge in the 1950’s. They love the area and are delighted to share the beauty of Renfrew with visitors to the Island and Islanders looking for a visit! Beach House has 4 bedrooms arranged around the periphery of a large living and dining space and open kitchen. Each bedroom is furnished with a queen-sized bed, and either overlooks the park, the beach, or the forest. The 1.5 bathrooms were completely redone with slate tiles and all new fixtures. The half bath feature a laundry sink for rinsing wetsuits or sandy kids. The owners created a loft over the main living and dining area with a carpeted sleeping space for extra bodies. There is tons of space in the living area, with a large L-shaped couch, swivel chairs, and other seating options for visiting, playing games, or a team reading session. The dining table seats 8 (?) and the bar stools overlooking the kitchen help keep the cooks company. The “foyer” features a washer and dryer. Wifi allows you to discover the area and plan your daily activities, or work – if you’re into that. After a hard day of activities, you can relax in the new sauna on the property. Heat up to 10 people in this beautiful wood burning sauna. Guest Access4 bedrooms – queen size bed in each 1.5 bathrooms loft – sleeping Sauna and cold tank Large living and dining area / space Kitchen opens onto 500 sq ft ocean front deck Microwave Washer/dryer/washtub Wood stove Wifi Telephone Covered BBQ Area Wash basin Bedding/Linens Walk on waterfront (sandy beach) Boat and RV parking Canoe Beach firepit Tent platform Large grassy front yard Steps from the town kids park Pet friendly Interaction with GuestsNone The NeighborhoodIt is a quiet beach front neighbourhood. Most house are guest houses. Getting AroundMost people either walk, bike or take their car to attractions. Other Things to NoteWhat does one do in Renfrew? Although it is most notorious for fishing and the start/finish of the West Coast and Juan de Fuca Trail, there is also world class surfing, hiking, mountain biking, tide pool exploring, and relaxing. Relaxing. If this were Mexico, we’d be saying muy tranquillo. But it’s Renfrew, so we’re saying, chillax.

The SpaceMy property is always peaceful. The southern sun glistens off the lake surrounded by mountains and trees and light abounds. Or... the mist and mild of coastal weather and a walk, steps out of the back of my house up into the endless mountainside; running creeks (dry summer=dry creek), green lush, high canopy to peer up into. Deer and elk are common here (even the odd friendly black bear). Or...sitting in the warmth of inside the house, listening to the outside creek only feet away... The house has a king, queen and bunk beds on the main floor 3 bedrooms. In the half finished above ground basement is the biggest bedroom with a queen sized bed and a single bed as well as a full bathroom. Now that I've had my first review here I would like to assure you all that my house was/is 'super clean'. That guest is referring to the unfinished downstairs area and not the principal living area on the main floor. Access to the downstairs bedroom and washroom is through the unfinished part of the basement and while its not the most pleasing part of my home it is clean, safe and livable. It is more a thoroughfare to the bedroom than an area to hang out in(URL HIDDEN)All bedding and towels are freshly laundered, all floors vacuumed and washed, all surfaces dusted, counters wiped, faucets glistening, porcelain gleaming, appliances spotless..... It is important to me to have a clean home for myself and for guests. Guest Access- There is an outside fire pit for BBQing with briquettes. - NO use of the wood furnace in the basement. (The house holds the heat well from the oil furnace) - No Smoking inside house. - two outside decks; a very large, multi-terraced acre rising up into the forested mountain side Interaction with GuestsFor all bookings I will meet you on arrival to pass the key and give a brief rundown of my house. Then I will be away until your booking is over ( I will be available if needed) Travellers who want to stay long term (a couple of weeks or more) I would need to occasionally share the house. The Neighborhood- Boat launch a minute away, just down the hill - Great family park, playground and beach 2 kms away with a huge dock surrounding a life guarded kid friendly swim area(summer), diving board and slide into the lake. - A cafe serving multiple items and tasty coffees is a minute walk down the way.. Even closer in the opposite direction is a cozy, well stocked grocery store. - Bowling! Yes, bowling in Youbou! (Saturday nights) - Cowichan River is a short drive away and offers a lazy current, or mild rapids, for tubing or kayaking. - logging roads and mountain biking - hiking/exploring out the backdoor up the mountain - surfing two hours away - three hours from skiing at Mt. Washington - just over an hour to Victoria - 25 minutes to Duncan Getting Around-Foot -Transit down on Youbou Rd.

A second, smaller bedroom (which also accommodates an office computer desk) on the top level contains a bunk bed of two twin x-long beds, which is ideal for kids but can also be comfortably used by adults. The upstairs living room has a well-made queen-sized sofa bed; the downstairs living area has a sofa bed that doubles as either two twin singles or can be combined. There are also a variety of pillows to choose from including hypoallergenic ones in gel, memory foam, contoured and traditional fill in various shapes and thicknesses. . . allowing for a sleep that may not even be achieved at home. The west-coast-style water feature tumbles alongside Going Coastal and is bordered by a slate-and-cedar-step pathway that winds down to the dramatic ocean side cliff lookout. Here one can watch the seasonal water cascade down amongst the rocks to spill into the cove below where the otters often play and, at low tide, exposing the adjacent islets and the Botanical-like tidepools. When tide and wind conditions are right, the sound of the surf blasting into the shallow sea cave tucked underneath us vibrates into the ground itself. The largest island on the western side of North America, Vancouver Island has an extremely diverse topography ranging from lush rainforest valleys and snow-capped peaks to rugged, rocky coastlines and smooth, sandy beaches. It's this diversity that gives such distinct flavors to the various regions and the communities that comprise them. The southern tip of the island is comprised of Greater Victoria, the Saanich Peninsula and the Western Communities. Much of Victoria itself can be characterized as a modern heritage city with turn-of-the century buildings standing alongside condo high-rises. And with its ancient oak forests, cherry blossom-lined streets and warm, windswept weather, it's no surprise that Victoria is consistently ranked one of the most beautiful cities worldwide. Only a short drive from the city centre, the Saanich Peninsula is a cradle of agriculture with quaint communities and calm, inland beaches, while the more rugged Western Communities are a cluster of booming townships on the island's more rugged and forested Pacific Coast. Only an hour's drive up island, the Cowichan Valley enjoys a unique micro-climate, evident in the area's proliferation of vineyards, orchards and dairy farms. Small communities such as Cobble Hill, Duncan, Cowichan Bay, Cowichan Lake and Chemainus breathe a unique mix of small-town flavor and aboriginal charm into the region. Further north, the mid-island city of Nanaimo is a quaint tribute to Vancouver Island's oceanic history. With fabulous restaurants, bountiful shopping and numerous outdoor activities at your fingertips, it's clear why this is a growing, prospering community. Just minutes from Nanaimo are the coastal communities of Parksville and Qualicum beach. Parksville boasts the best beach in the world at Rathtrevor Park, it has to be seen to be believed. At low tide the ocean retreats more than 2km our exposing white sand for as far as the eye can see in every direction. One hour further north, the Comox Valley is not only home to the communities of Courtney and Comox but also the island's alpine sports destination: Mt. Washington boasts 60 runs, a high-speed quad chair, a fixed-grip quad (among other lifts) and a vertical drop of over 500 meters. It's easy to see why visitors from the world over make this their skiing destination. Like your recreation a little warmer and wetter? Take a detour to the island's west Pacific Coast and experience the awesome, wave-crashing majesty of Long Beach, the surfer mecca that stretches between the towns of Ucluelet and Tofino. Simply put? If you haven't experienced Vancouver Island, you haven't really experienced British Columbia. Vancouver Island is located off of the west side of Canada and is easily accessible by plane, boat and car. In order to drive to the island from Vancouver you must use the BC Ferries system so please check the schedule before departing. Victoria has a large International Airport that has daily flights to and from Seattle and Vancouver as well as many other destinations. The east side of the island is accessible by car, bus and train. Most of the west side of the island is best accessed by 4x4 as most of the roads are very rugged and much of this part of the island is true wilderness. Please make sure you let someone know where you are going and when you are returning if you intend to head into the back country.
