Turkey Rock Retreat is a beautiful mountain home with spectacular views of Turkey Rock and the Rocky Mountains beyond. Regardless, the perfect way to end the day is settling in on the expansive deck enjoying the peace and quiet as the sun sets behind the mountains. Summer nights in Colorado can be cool so be sure to bring a sweatshirt so you’ll be comfortable as you take in the night sky and the constellations that shine bright at 8,500 feet. During the winter months temperatures vary. There have been days in December when the thermometer reads sixty degrees in the sunshine. But on the days when the temperature drops, the snow is falling and the valley below is a blanket of white the flames in the wood burning stove make for a day spent inside perfect. Knowing a warm fire and a cup of hot chocolate is waiting for you after sledding, snowshoeing or a long day of skiing fills the heart with happy anticipation. This beautiful mountain home truly is a retreat and the perfect getaway. It is situated on a cul de sac overlooking pine and aspen trees, Turkey Rock and the mountains beyond. The main level with the open floor plan, a wall of windows facing the awesome view, along with the wood burning stove, leather furniture and a table that seats six comfortably makes for the perfect gathering place. A fully stocked kitchen, a spacious bedroom with a queen size bed and a large full bathroom with an extra-long tub finish this level. Upstairs and open to the spectacular view is the loft where you’ll find a full size bed, and futon and a TV and DVD player. The lower level is a walkout and fully finished. You’ll find a comfortable chair in the reading nook, a gigantic sectional couch, a 60” flat screen HDTV, games and puzzles and a table on which to play them in the living area. The full bathroom has a glass enclosed rain shower with a slate surround. Another spacious bedroom with a queen size log bed has fantastic natural light coming from the large egress window and a flat screen TV. The laundry room has a washer, dryer and utility sink for your convenience. The view from the lowest level of our home is just as lovely as the main level. The deck is off the kitchen and great room. The cabin is located one hour from Colorado Springs, two hours from Denver and Breckenridge and a beautiful drive to many of the Colorado tourist attractions. Top of the Rock is perfect any time of the year. In summer, enjoy hiking, fly fishing in Deckers, rock climbing and exploring the nearby Pike National Forest. The hike up Turkey Rock is definitely a memory you won’t forget! If you want a less adventurous stay, a drive in the Rocky Mountains, shopping, or delicious dining in restaurants in Woodland Park, Manitou Springs, or Old Colorado City is just the ticket for you. Fall is one of the prettiest times of the year in the Colorado mountains with the aspens turning gold, orange, and red - a sight to behold. Winter is sometimes like a box of chocolates in that you never truly know what you will get. Some days sun and warm temperatures abound. Other days the best pastime is to cozy up on the sofa in front of a blazing fire and enjoy a hot toddy while you watch the snow fall outside the floor to ceiling windows. The Hayman Fire of 2002 destroyed the previous cabin so this one was built shortly thereafter. We hope our guests can create new memories as we have although we lost our belongings in the fire. Just a note - There is no need for A/C here as the temperature is cool enough to open the windows and enjoy the crisp mountain air.

Located in the beautiful Tarryall Valley with scenic historic preservation sites along the winding picturesque byway, Lazy River Ranch is a working hay and cattle ranch. It is also a well-stocked premier fly-fishing paradise. The RMAC leases the river from the owner. If you wish to fish, arrangements can be made at the time of booking for day passes. Passes cost $35/per person per day. If your group is more than 4 or you wish to play in the river and tube the block of the river is $140/day. 24' rainbow trout are not uncommon nor is the sighting of large elk, deer and big horn sheep. The elk and deer come down to the river in late evening or early morning to drink. A skillful hunter will even see wild turkey and sage grouse. At 8,800 to 9,000', the 160 acre ranch backs to the Lost Creek Wilderness and offers spectacular views from hiking trails that can take you up to 12,000' in elevation. The ranch house - completed in 2008 - is beloved by the owners for its location and beauty. The river is strictly fly fishing, catch and release (additional fee passes required) on 1¼ miles of stream bordered by some willows winding through irrigated hay meadows in a gently rolling valley bottom. You will hear coyotes and owls at night as you star gaze at a sky where you will clearly see the Milky Way and more stars than you knew existed. There is an outdoor fireplace to keep you warm and for roasting marshmallows. After just a day or two you will feel like you have finally gotten that long-needed rest. As your cares melt away you will see the world in a whole new light - come visit and discover! It's an easy 85 mile drive South West of Denver or 60 miles North West of Colorado Springs.
