UPDATED! - Work Complete *** Installed wood floors throughout first floor, new stainless steel appliances, new wide screen TV and new granite counters installed. We look forward to having you.***The home is within reach of some of the most sought after activities in the Adirondacks. Whether to spend the day locally at Lake Luzerne or spend the day in Saratoga or Lake George you're still a short ride home for a quiet evening to R-E-L-A-X. Come to Lake Luzerne to enjoy a confluence of waters. Here, the Hudson River squeezes into a narrow gorge, tumbling over the dramatic Rockwell Falls. Water from the Great Sacandaga Reservoir joins the river in a flurry of white water. Further downstream, the river widens into “The Bay,” a stretch of water broad enough for water skiing. For those who seek quiet water, a chain of four beautiful lakes offer fishing, camping and boating with two public swimming beaches on Lake Luzerne itself. Lake Luzerne has catered to visitors since President Grant came here for rest and recreation after the Civil War. The grand old hotels of that day have given way to modern inns and restaurants while new tennis and basketball courts, miniature golf and three local history museums, along with summer concerts and craft shows, offer a variety of family fun. Two riverside parks flank the downtown area. Nearby, Lake Luzerne Music camp attracts world-class musicians. In winter, snowmobilers can ride over 200 miles of forest trails. Signs for the “Dude Ranch Trail” hearken back to the days after World War II, when the old logging camps found new life as Dude Ranches. The Rodeo is still going strong after more than 50 years and several stables along Route 9N still offer horseback riding. For more information about the Town of Lake Luzerne, visit the Lake Luzerne Chamber of Commerce or call the Chamber at (phone number hidden)This cozy home has a nice quiet yard shaded by big beautiful oak and pine trees. It is in close proximity to many of the activities with the Adirondack Region. Seasonally, it makes for a great base from which you can set off on your particular adventure. However, it provides the amenities of comfort to stay home and not feel obligated to drive to some restaurant and waste time and money in long lines at expensive restaurants. The lake is across the street and there is a beach a short walk or drive depending on the view for the day you want.Guests will have access to the main areas of the home including a half finished cellar with a tv, radio and pool table to allow for a convenient place to hang out. There is a front porch and a side porch as well. Plenty of room for the whole family yet room enough to find a spot to sit quietly and read or whatever works for you. There are a couple closets the owner keeps for personal belongings so as to have as much of our stuff out of the way but plenty of room for you to drop your things, store your bags and make yourself at home. Many of the comforts of home are there, so it isn't exactly roughing it. We hope you make many lasting memories with your family and friends too.Simply put - Lake Luzerne is very close to so many great excursions. There is no limit to your family's adventures...I have a property manager who will greet the tenants and manage the maid service. There is a local market where you can find staples for the frig and pantry and a pharmacy across the street. The SpaceThis humble, simple, 1940's abode is located in a gem of a little town that embodies the charm of the Adirondack Mountains! The perfect vacation destination for self sufficient, seriously laid back adventurers, who appreciate a chill zone atmosphere, and those wanting to experience the nature, sights, and peacefulness that a little Adirondack town offers. As a guest, you have exclusive access and use of the upstairs queen sized bedroom and full bathroom which is just down the hall from your bedroom. I sleep in the downstairs twin sized bedroom and use the full bathroom downstairs. I do not enter your space upstairs during your stay (unless there is need for maintenance). Consider this a visit to that quirky 3rd cousins home--you know the one--always over scheduling herself, but oh so happy to see you and wants you to enjoy the beauty of nature in her neck of the woods! This home is in a regular neighborhood with homes very close on either side. You will hear some street noise as this street runs parallel to the major road through town, so there are comfortable earplugs provided to you just in case you are overly sensitive! I share a driveway with my awesome neighbors, please be respectful and park close to my house and it's all good :) WHAT DO WE OFFER? • A listing that is appropriate for up to two adult guests. • Exclusive use of upstairs bedroom with bathroom on same floor. • Comfortable queen size bed with a Tuft and Needle Mattress and cozy linens. • A host who will not invade your space but is available for questions and ideas on what to do, where to eat, the best places to have the best adventures! • An extremely safe neighborhood with off street parking. • A landline (connected via internet in case of emergencies, US calls only.) Downstairs we have a shared space which includes: • Living Room with comfortable seating and lighting • TV with Roku 3 for Net flix and Ama zon (although, you should not be spending your vacation watching TV....get out there and explore!) • Fast WI-Fi (oh, I do not like sluggish wifi!) • Shared kitchen for light cooking only (such as making coffee or tea, toasting, reheating foods, making sandwiches, please keep stove top use to meals that require only one pan). ~~A peaceful joyful atmosphere throughout the home, smudging and reiki take place frequently to every corner of every room.~~ • Front porch with two antique rocking chairs. • Back deck off the kitchen with Adirondack chairs and an oversized umbrella to offer you shade. • Small fire pit in backyard. • 15 minute beautiful straight-shot scenic drive to Lake George • 15 minutes to the Lake George Outlets (why anyone would come to this beautiful area and go shopping is beyond me though!) • Only a 30 minute drive to Saratoga Springs, SPAC, and the racetrack! ON OUTSIDE WALKS AND ADVENTURES YOU WILL FIND: • One streetlight---the only one in town! • A delightful view of where the fun Sacandaga River merges into the Mighty Hudson River • Lake Luzerne and it's beach, sunny spots but also plenty of trees that offer shade! Great place to swim, sunbathe, or sip a glass of wine at sunset! • Lake Luzerne has no motor boats, bring your kayaks! Or rent them from a nearby campground (rental fees apply from campground). • Waterfalls • Beautiful Parks • The only parabolic bridge left in the whole world! (True story!) • Raised rail bridge over the Sacandaga River (most famous as Teddy Roosevelt took that train after McKinley was shot, and yes, the train still runs!) • Sacandaga Outdoor Center for whitewater adventures! • Mom and Pop grocery store • Upriver Cafe--fine dining overlooking the gorgeous Hudson River, local products sourced and the best cheesecake in upstate NY. • Rockwell Falls (just beautiful and only a five minute walk). • Stewarts convenience store • 10 minute drive to the Conklingville Dam WHAT WE DO NOT HAVE Malls, Starbucks, Uber, dependable cell service, an iron (I do not believe in ironing, that's just another crazy thing like using the oven in summer!), A TV in every room, cable or local channels, bottled water, fax machine, or laundry facilities. Guest AccessGuests have exclusive access to the upstairs part of the home which includes the bedroom and bathroom which is down a short hall from the bedroom. Access to kitchen for basic breakfast-- I normally have English muffins, yogurt, and bananas available. You may also use the kitchen for enjoying meals brought in. Light cooking only please-- tea, coffee, making sandwiches, toasting, reheating. Please keep cooking to one pan. Please do not bring potential staining foods or drinks up to your room (pizza as an example). Guests are welcome to relax in the living room (that's where the only TV is located), front porch and small back deck, off-street parking. Fast wifi provided for all of your devices, a landline for continental US calls only as your cell reception may be sketchy. . Interaction with Guests•I honor your privacy, will not go upstairs during your stay. •My two jobs keep me very and I enjoy quiet and solitude. •This airbnb rental is best suited for self sufficient guests, but I am happy to provide recommendations and share insider tips of unique adventures, local spots in nature. •Please realize that Airbnb is much different than a hotel, there is no front desk person to check you in. •I prefer to greet guests upon arrival, sharing the information necessary so that their stay is a great experience. My work and social schedule vary, so it's not always possible, it is greatly appreciated when guests stay in contact with me about their arrival time. Self check-in is possible. •Please be respectful and provide an approximate check in time the day before your arrival, realizing that I may be taking time off work, or cancelling other plans to greet you, so if your plans change, notify me. •Check in is no later than 8pm. I can be flexible with arrival times depending on your needs, my schedule, and whether or not there are guests staying before you arrive. •Self-check in is also possible, but before 8pm. •As your host, I will sometimes be using vacation hours from work, cancelling other plans to be with friends, or heading out to nature, or missing out on much needed sleep to greet you, so please be respectful--communicate your arrival time, arrive on time, or notify me immediately if there is going to be a change. Self check in is also an option. Thank You. The NeighborhoodThis home is in a regular neighborhood with homes very close on either side.
