The SpaceThis charming two bedroom cottage in the heart of Lake Worth is a wonderful mix of tropical serenity, downtown convenience, and beachside peacefulness.
Built in 1924, this historic home combines classic finishes -- like a claw-foot bath tub and hardwood floors -- with modern conveniences -- like blanket WiFi and remote-controlled ceiling fans in most rooms.
Just want to hang around the house? Sleep late and then enjoy coffee on the deck, overlooking the private, dog-friendly yard bursting with foliage (papaya, mango, and nectarine trees, as well as six different varieties of palm trees), within earshot of the waterfall. Make a snack in the recently updated kitchen, or grill some fresh fish on the gas grill out back. Kick off your flip-flops and watch cable television on the 36-inch high-def tv. Check email using the house's complimentary WiFi. Have a hot shower either under the leaves in the private outdoor shower, or in the claw-foot tub in the recently renovated bathroom.
Feel like going out? Within two blocks, you'll find bars, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Attire ranges from suit-and-tie to swimsuits-and-beach-shoes; it all depends on you! You can also easily walk to Lake Worth's brand new grocery store, a bank, a drugstore, the post office, a movie theater, a playhouse, a gym, and a bus stop, all of which are within three blocks of the house. If you're feeling active, Lake Worth's Municipal Golf Course, public boat launch, and brand new Kayak Launch (opening spring 2012) are all about 3/4 mile away.
Feel like exploring? Borrow the beach cruisers and pedal along the scenic bike route, past numerous historic homes adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway. Keep your eyes open for manatees chomping on sea grass!
Ready to hit the beach? Borrow the house's beach gear (umbrella, chairs, towels, cooler, noodles), and walk, bike, or drive 1.5 miles to Lake Worth's public beach, which also has a recently-renovated fishing pier (that rents fishing gear).
Want to see some other towns? Lake Worth is located in the middle of Palm Beach County. In just a short drive, you can easily reach West Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, and Jupiter. Roger Dean Stadium, which hosts Spring Training each year for both the Florida Marlins and the St Louis Cardinals, is just 21 miles north.
If you're flying to Lake Worth, the closest commercial airports are Palm Beach International (7.5 miles) and Fort Lauderdale International (43 miles). (If you're flying your own plane, Lantana's Palm Beach County Park Airport is 4 miles away.) If you're driving to Lake Worth, this house is 1.5 miles off I-95.
