I have traveled a lot & this small state is truly
paradise. come see for yourself.
I am a retiring adult critical care Registered Nurse. Kids all moved/moving out. Have a nice 2100+ sq ft home, 3 BR, 2.5 bath, 2 living areas & have used this service myself w/ good results. I am a child of the 60's & rather laid back. Common courtesy, common sense, honesty are my rules & greatest expectations. I have traveled enough to not judge others. I try very hard to be independent of the good opinion of others yet in a kind & compassionate manner. I do expect you to respect my property. I like animals actually better than most people but, currently, I only have an outside cat. I have extensive knowledge of the area, flora, fauna & have lots of local guide books. Can't live w/out the natural world close at hand, music, travel, art, my grandkids (who live in their house w/ my son & his beautiful wife & a great Aussie named Isaac!). My greatest travel adventure has been to Northern India & Nepal, (not for recent distaster) where I helped set up an ICU in Kathmandu, taught, learned, hiked, had the best time ever & was not injured by the dreaded TATA trucks! Still own a 2 room flat in Moscow, Russia. My son schooled in Russia & is fluent. Favorite museum: The Hermitage; Food: Cheese. When I travel, I hang w/ the kids in the hostels & travel & generally eat w/ the locals; I do not go to stay in a western hotel room. I am better inoculated than most people's pets. Things I collect on my travels are books of folk tales, music, folk art, memories & experiences--& maybe a pair of cool earrings. How can anyone have one favorite book; what comes to mind is The Devil Drives a bio of Capt Sir Richard Burton, Skywater about coyotes in the southwest US, Yukon Alone about the Yukon Quest dog sled race, Undaunted Courage about Lewis & Clark & the Corp of Discovery. The Columbia River Gorge & Astoria is about 145 miles south of Tacoma. If it's fiction, it must be a darn good yarn to hold my attention. Music--any. I prefer songwriters who have something to say either w/ words or w/ the music itself & who know how to surround themselves w/ excellent musicians. I have a large library including many travel/adventure accounts, local area guide books (you may borrow) & music of all sorts. I love showing folks this beautiful country. I live on the premises & will be available to assist you in any way (except cooking) as little or as much as you want. I will respect your privacy & if you do want to cook, my kitchen is regular & modern w/ most every appliance/gadget you might need. Just don't burn the house down. I will be available to clean up for you so you do not have to waste time on that. Have a full sized laundry area w/ W/D, iron. One BR has a jetted Jacuzzi tub. My house is in a semi secluded, quiet area, yet readily available to all sorts of shopping. I am at the end of a dead end. Have outdoor living areas, a mostly native 3/4 acre yard & lots of trees. Parking for rental car. If you have never visited the PNW, you are in for a wonderful treat. Tacoma has everything Seattle has except less traffic, less people, yet, we have great light rail & bus access & Seattle is about 35 miles north. My son can assist you with Seattle directions, area pubs, bars, breweries, cafes---the night life stuff. I can guide you to the natural beauties, museums & art. The US Open golf championship is being held about 4 miles from my house in June. Come have a good time, I'll keep you comfortable--so long as you feed yourself! On request, I will have a 2nd smaller bedroom with a regular sized bed for an additional $65.00 per night. (Max guest 2-total) Guest Accessa 2nd bath has jetted Jacuzzi tub should you want to have a bath. the private bath w/ BR has shower. Laundry area w/ W/D, iron. Hairdryer, soaps/shampoos. Cotton towels, Your choice of smooth cotton sheets or cotton flannel sheets. Modern equipped Kitchen if you want to cook, you supply food & do your own cooking; I will clean up for you. Spacious bright LR w/ fireplace, skylights, big screen TV, Blue ray DVD, Internet. Bose wave music system. French doors out to deck. Dining area off kitchen plus bar seating. outside decks & seating, walking areas. come stay a while. Interaction with GuestsI will likely stay downstairs so they have upstairs mostly to them selves & more privacy. However, my bedroom is upstairs. I will be available to assist w/ any excursion planning, directions & area information needs.
I will also be available to drive & guide for additional fees. I have a 2002 Ford Expedition w/ 4 wheel drive and I have a permanent Pass into all the National Parks. The NeighborhoodIt is near & accessible to everything but tucked off in a wooded, semi secluded area on a private no thru road & is not a typical suburban neighborhood. my lot is 3/4 acre & even though I have neighbors, we can't pass the toothpaste to one another's bathroom windows. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop a short walk from my house. Tacoma has good bus service & connections throughout the Puget Sound Region & to Seattle as well as the Sounder light rail system. Unfortunately, no mass transit out to the National Parks. There are transit station hubs also near my house; approx 2 miles to bus & same for light rail. My son is very informed & could assist in explaining how the system works. He lived in Eastern Europe & Russia so long he is accustomed to navigating those systems. Other Things to NoteI only speak English. My son & daughter in law & grandchildren all speak Russian & we have a friend who is fluent in Japanese but she is not always available.
