An outdoor shower allows guests to rid themselves of evidence of the beach, helping keep the house free of sand. Interaction with GuestsThere is a caretaker on the premises - housed separately to the main property. A native of Sussex Village, he can arrange boat hire for fishing or sightseeing, source fresh fish and assist with catering. The owner lives in nearby Freetown and is readily reachable by phone. The NeighborhoodBradt's guide to Sierra Leone says of Sussex beach that, 'Just before dinner, as the sun sets out above the ocean, it's one of the most romantic places in the country'. The property is located opposite the popular Florence's Restaurant (AKA Franco's), a short walk from the King's Lodge and moments from the beach. Two smaller, more private, beaches are minutes away. Sussex village is a sleepy melange of Creole and Sherbro, with friendly residents who seem always to have time to chat. Number 2 and Boboh beaches are a short drive away. Getting AroundA 500 metre walk will take you to the newly restored Peninsula road where taxis and Okada motorcycle taxis can readily be hailed. Up to 4 cars may be parked in the compound.
