The SpaceA private room in the house where my girlfriend and I live in a local community in Lalibela. It is very clean and comfortable with a double bed. There is a lovely veranda and garden to eat, read or relax after exploring. You have access to two bathrooms – one is our en-suite which you can use all day and has a warm water shower and toilet, and the other is very basic with a ground toilet and cold shower only if required overnight. At night the area is quiet and you can expect a peaceful sleep. Breakfast is included in the price of eggs, Ethiopian bread with local organic Lalibela honey and traditional coffee or tea. I can recommend to you the best place to eat, shop and other excursions around Lalibela. The entrance fee to the churches is 50USD for 4 days. I am a registered professional tour guide in Lalibela and you can hire me as a guide for 500 birr for the 11 churches if you like. If I have already been booked, I will assign a guide friend to you for the same price. If you would like to visit the churches without a guide, we can help you with the best way to organise your trip. The NeighborhoodOur house is located in a local community 10 minutes from Lalibela town centre. My neighbourhood is really friendly and welcoming, so feel free to walk around. Our house is not in a touristy area so you can experience Ethiopian culture close up. Getting AroundDon't worry, I will pick you up from the airport or bus station.
Our house is a 10 minute walk to the town centre and a 15 minute walk to the Rock Hewan churches of Lalibela. I can also arrange a Tuk-Tuk if you prefer at a very reasonable price. It is generally 30birr to drive anywhere in the Lalibela. Other Things to NoteI can organise any sightseeing you would like to do in or out of Lalibela. Around Lalibela I can recommend you to also take part in community trekking to the highland mountains for a half, full day or multiple days trek, i have a small Eco trekking company called Lalibela Eco Trekking to the highland mountains surrounding Lalibela. where you can experience the real Ethiopia with spectacular landscape and amazing endemic fauna and flora. The culture and traditions of the local people is very unique and it has the 3rd highest peak in Ethiopia - Mount Abune Yousef (4300m). The only way to reach this place is by walking. 3 Day Trekking to the highland mountains around Lalibela
Day 1: Trek from Lalibela to Wedebye 6hur
After early Breakfast trek from Lalibela to Wedebye (3600m altitude, which gives you more outstanding panoramic views of the area. The wedebye positioned and take in 360 degree views over the surrounding countryside.
The trekking from lalibela to wedebye is not an easy comparing to your 2nd or 3rd day but the view starting 5 minute you left the city is spectacular, you will pass through few villages and farms. This will be your first day to know how local community leave in the mountains.
On your way to wadebye you will take a short break for snack at mount Hudad (3300m). here we can embark to see swarm Group of Gelada baboons (endemic to Ethiopia) and other mammals, don't wary if there is no Gelada at the time of your brake because we will see them again at mount abune Yousef Community conservation area.
After having your lunch and short brake You can walk to one of the villages close to the wedebye and learn about the life of the local people including farming practices, cattle rearing and local traditions or walk to the children's school to teach any subject you would like to teach . Spend the remind of the afternoon enjoying the silence of wedebye and overlooking the sunset.
At night gather around the fire not only for the cold but the local people have a lovely tradition to welcome their Gusts by washing gusts feet, of course some of our client call it (foot massage). It is common for the people in the mountain when new Gust come to their house first they will give food, then wash gusts feet and leave their bed, (of curse now they will not leave their bed for you because we have prepared privet tukul room for you)
Ok finally I have a very good news! at night there will be local young stars who will present a lovely typical traditional dance of the Highland Tribes, you will enjoy the live music from the young stars who will entertain you till your time to bed.

Day 2: Trek from Wedebye to Abune Yousef (7hur)
With picnic lunch Trek from Wedebye to top of mount Abune yousef 4300m. Pass tigu keble where you will sleep your second night.
Today you will spend your day at Abune Yousef community conservation area. Abune Yousef is covering 70km2 of Afroalpine habitat and spectacular scenery.
Ok maybe in other place you may climb more than 4300m but today we will surprise you a lunch at the top of mount abune Yousef overlooking the panoramic view of the area.
After lunch in the another direction trek to big and small zgit viewpoints, this view point will allow you to see the endless chain mountains of Sekota. View and to visit different fauna and flora, visit swarm of Ghelada baboons, read fox (rare chance to see), plenty of Birds and lots of Fauna and flora of the area.
After you spend much of your day at mount abune Yousef in the other direction we will take you to Tigu Keble.
At night, as usual you will have campfire under the star and moon. Today the dance will be by you and the staff. Enjoy the local traditional dance and music you will be invited to dance our unique Ethiopian traditional dance. Before you Go bed the guide will talk to you about next day program.

Day 3: Trek from Tigu Keble to Lalibela 7 Hur
After breakfast trek from Tigu Keble to Lalibela 8hur. Pass through different villages and learn about local crops on different plateaus, specular view till your reach Lalibela. On the way have some time at Hudad to watch the Ghelada baboons, birds and other mammals of the area.
