The SpaceBuddha Rooms is a nice but simple guesthouse with 5 rooms in the heart of Lalitpur, no damage of the earthquakes and close to the zoo. Go back hundreds of years in time at Kathmandu or Patan Durbar square, or even Bhaktapur Durbar square (the most beautiful one), Boudha Stupa and the buddhist monasteries surrounding, Swayambhu monkey temple and sacred cremation area Pashupatinath are all on the list to visit.
Next to that Nepal is known for his Himalaya mountains, Everest base camp is maybe not for everyone, but short mountain village like Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Godawari are very reachable in a few hours and worth to stay for a day or 2. Long trips are going to Pokhara (Annapurna mountain region) and the beautiful jungle in the south of Chitwan incl rhinos, elephants and crocodiles! Getting AroundFrom Jawalakhel chowk (next to the Zoo) are busses, tempo's and micro's (all public transport) going to Kathmandu centre, Patan centre and the south, cost are around 0,15 $ or for 3 or 4 $ you can take a taxi to places in town. Other Things to NoteClose to the guesthouse are many small shops where you can buy groceries if you want to cook yourself. Fruit and vegetable are quiet cheap at the local market 5 min walk from Buddha Rooms.
Next to that going out for dinner is already possible from 2$ for a meal (nepali) and 4$ (western) in many of the restaurants in Jhamsikhel and Sanepa area
