The SpaceYou will be visiting a unique custom built strawbale secluded artist hideaway. A fully off-the-grid solar house. No TV. No Internet. No Phone. No EMF The house is divided into 2 large sections. 1. The primary living space. The kitchen, living room, dining area, sleeping loft AND BATHROOM share a common space. (see photos) The primary sleeping area is a loft and a secondary sleeping area is a couch in the living section below the loft. There is a piano and musical instruments for composing and singing. 2. The artist studio is a large high ceiling open space with expansive western views, and separate access to a patio deck. This strawbale house is a fully self contained, solar-powered , water-catchment system with a minimal carbon footprint. Simple and basic. There are a few simple limitations regarding water use and electrical power consumption. Please read the rules below. Guest AccessYou will have complete unencumbered access to the house and gardens. NO PETS ( a small dog lives here sometimes. She will not be there) The house borders Wilderness area, National Forest and you can hike directly to the forest. Elk, Deer, Coyotes, and Bear are common. Interaction with GuestsThis house is currently inhabited by the owner, but travels most of the time. You will have the entire place to yourself. You can expect us to meet and greet on arrival and then we will give you complete privacy for your entire stay, yet can quickly take care of issues if needed. The NeighborhoodLa Lama is a small mountain hamlet nestled against Flag Mountain in the Sangre de Cristo mountains, 20 minutes North of Taos and dating from the 1700's. La Lama is the site of the broken wagon wheel. The event that paved the way for the influx of Taos artist. The neighborhood is also home to the Lama Foundation, a spiritual retreat center where Ram Dass wrote the book "Be Here Now". Questa, an old mining community, is 7 miles away and is the nearest gas station and groceries. Getting AroundThis is a secluded mountain area. The drive is a small dirt road that is easily accessed by a standard vehicle in most weather conditions. A 4x4 is needed for the in winter (snow) or inclement weather (mud). There is a free public bus system 2 miles away that will take you to Taos or Questa. Mountain Biking and hiking is outside the front door. The SpaceThe house is very bright, open and comfortable. You can see the sunrise and sun set directly. Main bedroom has a second floor porch. Many kitchen amenities for cooking, Vitamix, small convection oven and brand new stove and oven also convection, coffee makers, bake ware, mixers etc. Linens are fresh and so are towels. If there is anything you need please ask and I will do my best to see what I can do. Guest AccessThere is a side studio that is private. Interaction with GuestsI will be available to let you in and answer any questions you have. The Neighborhood10 minute drive to ski valley. 10 minute walk to pub and grocery, 3 minute drive, 20 min walk to the river and hiking to the hot springs, fishing and rafting/float trips. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop for public transportation at the pub. It runs 2xs in the morning and back around 4:30 from town.

      My place is close to Rio Grande del Norte National Monument , great views, private and next to national forest hiking. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed, the kitchen, and the views. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet and is carpeted.       If you are looking to relax and soak up fresh mountain air, Paradise Creek is the best of Northern New Mexico in the mountains of Questa. Questa is a small, quaint, heritage rich town that is just north of Taos about 20 enchanting miles. It is also the place where you turn east, at the only light in town, and drive 10 miles east to Red River - a mountain resort. Questa is located on the Enchanted Circle scenic highway, near the confluence of the Rio Grande and the Red River and is at the western base of the Taos Mountains. To the southeast lies Flag Mountain, a northwestern spur of the group of mountains that includes Wheeler Peak, the highest peak in New Mexico. To the north and west, you will be struck by the Rio Grande Gorge and how it cuts a volcanic plateau. A great private place to relax. Hikers enjoy the beauty of the mountains with a variety of different hikes available only minutes away. Fishermen relax and enjoy the quiet serenity of Eagle Rock lake only l/4 mile away. Getting AroundFree shuttle bus to Taos stops 1.5 miles down the mountain (at highway 522): (URL HIDDEN) Directions to Camper: 1.Take Highway 522, 14 miles north of the blinking light in Taos, or 5 miles south of Questa to the Lama turnoff (at the crest of a hill with large roadside turnout areas on both sides of the highway, County Road B-014, east side of highway). 2.Head east on the dirt road for 1 mile. At the T-intersection bear left and continue on Old Highway 3 north toward Questa. 3.After about ½ mile you will pass the fire station, continue down the dip and up the other side and turn right on Upper Lama Road. Head east up the mountain for about ½ mile. If you find yourself in a big canyon on a horseshoe curve—you missed the turn. 4.At the Y-intersection bear right onto Lama Foundation Road. Travel south about ½ mile. 5.Turn right onto the 5th driveway on the right (two old juniper posts holding an open gate with no fence). If you descend into the canyon and round a horseshoe curve--you have missed the driveway. 6.As the driveway splits, continue straight (bearing left) down the mountain due west. Look for a shed, solar panels and some half-buried domes. 7.You made it! Other Things to NoteThis is a camper trailer perched on the side of a mountain. If you enjoy rustic accommodations, solitude, and stunning landscapes -- this place is for you. If you want to be pampered -- keep looking.
