The house is mostly available weekends but we are flexible with dates if you have something else in mind. We ask that only adults stay with us. Our house is filled with old time goodies that are not child friendly. Guest AccessOur house is loaded with little fascinating treasures on top of all the other amenities. Enjoy! Interaction with GuestsYou have the entire house to yourself with a lockbox to let you in. You will have complete privacy. The NeighborhoodLambertville is a cute little town with loads of restaurants, galleries, shops and a few lovely bars. Our favorite spots for restaurants are El Tule, Ota-ya, Ricks...too many to list. In New Hope there is the great youth run pre fixe restaurant, Cafe Blue Moose. For bars hit the Boathouse or the Swan for cozy fireside cocktails. The Swan also serves food in the bar with a great offering of salads, burgers and pizzas. Love the mashed potato pizza and the beet salad. Our favorite thing to do is hit The Golden Nugget flea market 1.5 miles down the road. It's open year round every Wed, Sat and Sun from dawn to about 2 or so. People start packing up after the big waves of people are done so get there early! If you venture down the road a bit further towards Washington Crossing, It's Nuts! is a roadside restaurant serving up some sick fried chicken and tomato pie. There are also many lovely shops in town especially America Antiques right down the street. Getting AroundThe best way to get around Lambertville is on foot. You can walk the whole town and cross the bridge to New Hope very easily. If you don't plan on driving to neighboring towns you can leave your car behind and take the Trans Bridge Line. It leaves directly from Port Authority. There is also a taxi service that is a bit spotty but does come through most of the time when you need it. Other Things to NoteThere are many things to do and see. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. Please see the guidebook for suggestions on restaurants, shopping and fun activities.

Guest AccessNew Hope town center just 3 miles, canal tow path nearby, recreational park behind cottage, parking, mountain bikes, TV, Wifi and utilities (nightly/weekly stays only) included. For monthly or longer stays, guests pay gas and electric. Wifi and TV complimentary. Interaction with GuestsGuests stay in separate structure behind main house. I am not onsite and manage the property remotely. The NeighborhoodBrownsburg historic charm, access to town center, canal tow path and New Hope / Lambertville attractions, restaurants and boutique shops. Amazing location. Getting AroundNo public transport. Suggest automobile or bikes provided. Manageable walk to town for those who are up for it - both via road or tow path access. Other Things to NoteThe ceilings in the cottage are low. Individuals over 6'0" may feel uncomfortable as the ceiling heights vary through the cottage between 6'5" and 7.0". There are two hybrid bicycles located in the shed on the side of the cottage and helmets located in the utility closet in the kitchen. Feel free to use - the tow path along the Delaware River (both on the NJ and PA sides is a beautiful, flat ride. Recommend the New Hope to Frenchtown ride for scenery and nice workout. The TV is a little quirky in that sometimes it will say "no signal". If this happens, slide the cable box out and tighten the connections in the back and it should work fine. The TV input should be set to HDMI 1. Also, I am not on site and manage the property remotely. It is easy to reach me on my mobile or via the app and most things I can sort out from a distance. We do have the cottage professionally cleaned between guests best we can but sometimes it is not possible given arrival / departure schedules among guests. This is why we ask the departing guests to wash and rotate the linens.

The SpaceThis 1800s hideaway in the heart of artsy Lambertville NJ has a knock-out kitchen (complete with marble countertops and authentic cabinets from Jim Morrison's last US residence out in West Hollywood), that opens up onto your secluded courtyard and garden. You'll have 1 Queen bed and 1 twin sleeper sofa, made up with Egyptian linens, and a full modern bath (tub and shower and even dressing table), with Juliette balcony that opens out over Secret Garden. For your convenience, there are 2 TVs (one of which includes premium channels and HBO OnDemand), an ipod with everything from Billie Holiday to Rockpile, and wireless internet. It's all just 1.5 hours from NYC and 1 hour from Philly (see below for public transport) But why would you want to leave? You'll be surrounded by art galleries, antique shops, more than 2 dozen cool restaurants -- and you'll be right on the historic Canal path which is treasured for biking, kayaking, paddleboarding -- "toys included in stay! Can there be more? A short stroll over the bridge'll take you to New Hope PA for Friday fireworks all summer, a newly re-opened Bucks County Playhouse ((website hidden)), fun global music at St Johns Church, and an active historic society ((website hidden)). These 2 river towns host special festivals throughout the year -- Shad Fest, Winterfest, Autumn House Tour, Spring Garden Tour! To get an idea, go here: (website hidden) Plus, you're only 3 miles downriver from the incredible Stockton Farmer's Market (F/S/S, throughout the year) and 6 miles upriver from Washington Crossing State Park, where George Washington made his famous crossing during our Revolution. It's easy to reach Lambertville by car, and Secret Garden comes with a parking spot (this is a BIG DEAL in Lambertville) but you can also get here from NYC via the TransBridge Bus ($40 one way, 1.5 hour trip from Port Authority, free wi-fi on board) and get dropped off 2 blocks from the Secret Garden! Check out my photos and feel free to message me, Melanie, with any questions. Welcome to Lambertville! Guest AccessAs a guest of Secret Garden, you will have exclusive use of the entire house (all 1000 square feet of it LOL) and the brick patio of the garden. However, home abuts 2 other homes in this quaint historic area, so the gardens on either side of Secret Garden's brick patio are private. Everyone is very friendly, but to respect privacy (and to prevent the K9s from getting out of garden gate), please contain your garden use to only the brick patio area, and always use FRONT DOOR to enter/exit Secret Garden. Interaction with GuestsI am often right next door during your stay, but I am always a text away for any issues during your stay. You will receive my contact info when you confirm a reservation. The NeighborhoodLambertville is a village of artist studios, galleries, one-of-a-kind restaurants, quirky coffee shops, a vintage music salon, and a host of outdoor eateries (yes, even in the winter). Our sister city, New Hope, is a short stroll across the bridge and there you can find breweries, bars with bands from New Orleans, biker bars, shopping, and many more fine restaurants. New Hope is the racier big sister to quaint Lambertville. Just down the river is Washington Crossing Historic Park. And just upriver is Stockton, a tiny crossroads with a magnificent year round farmers market - smoked pork stand, truffle table, handmade tamales, Tunisian olive oil, a great bakery, a juice bar, and more. The Canal Path, used by mules in historic times to pull barges, is today a recreational path that runs 25 miles upriver to Frenchtown, down to Trenton, and also on the PA side of the river, making loops via the many bridges an interesting activity on fair days. Getting AroundThe best public transportation to Secret Garden is the Transbridge Bus that stops only 3 blocks from the home. Other Things to NoteA note about kids: I raised 4 sons, so I know firsthand the enjoyment of traveling with kids. However, Secret Garden is a small enclave of 3 homes, all adult-owned and occupied. The bedroom has no door, so is open to the stairway, and the home is not childproof. It is not recommended for any children under 10, and older kids by special request only please. Thank you!

Guest AccessGuests will be able to use a private off street parking spot next to the cottage. In addition to the cottage itself, guests can also use the patio outside of the cottage. We encourage guests to walk around the yard and enjoy the gardens, which extend along the side of the home and into the front. Guests can enter and exit the property either along the side of the home, through the front yard onto Delaware Avenue, or for a more private entrance, the guest can enter through the alley next to the parking space that lets out onto Main Street. Getting AroundLambertville is a small river town, so everything is within walking distance. The cottage is only 5 blocks from the center of Lambertville's business district, and is a 15-20 minute walk across the bridge into New Hope.

The eighteen inch walls and original woodwork at Pineapple Hill exemplify a craftsmanship long forgotten. On the grounds, the walls of a stone barn enclose a beautiful in ground pool. The rose garden now lies where the spring house once stood. The ruins of the original summer kitchen surround an outdoor sitting area. Breakfast is always a treat. Corporate off-site, family getaway, or Wedding - Brookmill Farm is a captivating 14 acre country retreat situated an hour from Manhattan and minutes from the famous artistic communities of Lambertville, NJ and New Hope, PA. The property’s main house is a four bedroom, colonial Bank style home dating to 1807, that boasts a wrap around, columned porch with comfortable seating for 14. Recently exposed exterior original stonework anchors an alfresco dining area for six under a charming pergola. There is a large, three bedroom guest cottage with two full baths, a family room, a full kitchen, sleep in den and laundry room. The centerpiece of the property’s summer entertainment is the pool house, the original stone building on the property which overlooks the lap pool. The downstairs section of the pool house has been restored to its original “speakeasy” format complete with custom bar, kitchenette, and half bath. The striking, nautical themed rooftop lounge area was designed in the mid 1990’s by the curator for the museum of modern art in New York. The long, stone-wall lined private driveway leads you into this dream property with ancient trees, a trout-stocked pond frequented by blue heron and ducks, a babbling brook and a foot bridge over a waterfall and another bridge leading to the tent location. The perennial gardens all over the compound have been professionally redesigned and labeled by the head master gardener from the prestigious Cranbrook Institute in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Dramatic, tiered perennial gardens in the back of the main house are accessed by stone steps installed years ago and peacefully watched over by an ancient Aphrodite-style garden fountain in the center. The stairs lead to an old rose garden and sunset gazebo. The natural wooded back acreage of the property rises up a rocky ridge and descends down to the brook. Brookmill Farm was once home to the theater-owning Fox family of Philadelphia, who used the property as their playground in the country. Whimsical garden decorations installed by the Fox family can still be found amongst the bucolic grounds. Stone garden frog fountains dot the property, a favorite of which has been updated with an automatic timer, signaling cocktail hour. Another noteworthy resident was Brian Garfield, author of “Deathwish”, which later became a movie starring Charles Bronson. Brian wrote the book while he owned Brookmill Farm and mailed the draft from the property. Legend has it that during the days of prohibition, moonshine was sold out of the cellar reached by hidden stairs. As you step inside the main house, an elegant foyer reveals a formal living room with restored original paneling, beamed ceilings and raised panel window frames. The paneled Inglenook stone fireplace lends additional charm and warmth to this inviting space flanked by three sets of double French doors leading out to the porch. A walk-in, stone fireplace anchors the dining room, situated in the original part of the home. The Dutch door in the dining room opens to the alfresco dining porch overlooking the brook and the pond. The kitchen features Viking appliances, granite countertops, a glass tile backsplash and radiant heat floors. Original stone walls in the adjacent family room are enhanced with local reclaimed barnwood. Sunlight streams in through eleven windows in the vaulted two story section of the family room. The old door on the wine cellar completes the vintage feel of this room. An authentically restored staircase appointed with era appropriate millwork leads to a sophisticated, three-room master suite. The spacious, chic master bedroom with wood burning fireplace adjoins a glass-walled sunroom that overlooks the back gardens. Two pedestal sinks, a marble tile shower and deep jetted tub enhance the master bath. This level also contains the laundry room with new appliances and the enchanting “Princess Suite” bedroom that sleeps two and has its own en suite bath and walk in closet with built in organizers. The middle floor of the home boasts two more bedrooms and en suite baths. One of the bedrooms has a full/single bunk bed set and the other one has a day bed/trundle set. The guest cottage has two levels featuring three bedrooms, a den with a queen sleeper sofa, a kitchen with granite countertops, two full baths and a laundry room. One of the second story bedrooms has a wood burning fireplace.
