The SpaceWhile its a bit rugged to get there, its worth the trip if you have the right vehicle. Every year is different and some years we can drive a truck up all winter, and a passenger vehicle in the summer (altho high clearance is a good idea). In the winter, it may require a snow machine (you provide). The road is not for the faint of heart (or devoted flat-lander). Its 23 switchbacks with an elevation gain of about 2000' in 3 miles. The views along the way are spectacular. Its a frame house with a wood-paneled exterior and metal roof. Its surrounded by Aspen-dominated forest. Red Canyon can be seen from the master bedroom and the sunrises are spectacular. Its heated solely by a central large soapstone wood stove. We'll leave you plenty of split wood During the warmer months, there is hot water in the cabin for dishes and showers but we have been turning that off in the winter and use melted snow or hauled water. We haul our water up from town and store it in a 2000 gal cistern inside the house). At this time, there is an outhouse (with a great view) or luggable-lou. We hope to install a composting toilet next summer. The solar panels and wind turbine provide the electricity. The stove and frig are run on propane (that needs to be hauled the summer). There's a propane grill on the deck. All dishes and cooking utensils are included. We also leave two days worth of b'fast goodies for you and supply the coffee (bring your own if you're picky), tea, cocoa and a few other items. Plenty of spices and such for cooking. Guest AccessThe entire house will be yours. Pets are negotiable (with a deposit). Interaction with GuestsWe will only come up to check the batteries, water, propane and haul the trash. Unless you call us, we'll leave you alone. The NeighborhoodFew and distant neighbors. Getting AroundIt takes about a half-hour to get to town so you can't be in a hurry. Supply your own transport. The roads are great for mountain biking. Other Things to NoteWe shut the water system down for the winter. We haul up drinking water and melt snow for dishes. The soapstone stove keeps the place toasty and its a great place to hang out in the winter. Hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, and snowmobiling are all great ways to be outside if you'd like. Check out our Guidebook links for things to do in the area.

Getting AroundWe are centrally located for the top sites on "Enjoy Your Parks," but Wyoming is sparsely populated and the closest Airport is Riverton, then Rock Springs, then Casper, then Salt Lake City, then Denver. All of the airports provide Car Rentals. Casper and Riverton also have the WRTA buslines that travel to Lander, and car rentals are available here. We can hook you up with guides if you want to explore on horses. Gannet Peak Sports has bikes and Wild Iris rents Snow Shoes and Skis. We have Kayaks and will rent them to our guests. Bring your own 4-wheelers if you want that, same with snow-machines. We do have a couple of older snow machines and will rent to our guests, but these machines are only suited for playing around in our 18 acre field. Other Things to NoteWalk along the whispering creek and enjoy the Llamas and Miniature Horses - a very pleasant way to start or end your day.  Sightings of pheasant, squirrels, deer and other wild life in the early morning and late afternoon are very common.   A stay with Don & Laural is an experience to be remembered!

Don & Laural would like to share their little corner or paradise in Wyoming with you for your lodging needs. As your host and hostess of "Lander Lodging", home of "Wyoming Sinks Canyon Miniature Horse Ranch", we want to make your stay with us as wonderful as possible. What we love here is: the pure taste of freedom, the vibrant smell of fresh air, deep blue sky and sunshine ~300 days of the year. We also love the wide open outdoors with it's variety of terrain offering world class: fishing, hiking, kayaking, climbing, 4-wheeling, mountain biking, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, and some of the best hunting in the U.S. We love being one with nature and enjoying proud bugling elk, majestic mule deer, roaming antelope, mischievous squirrels, mysterious llamas, cooing pheasant, and the playful miniature horses. Life doesn't get any better than this! We are located at the mouth of Sinks Canyon is named for it's unique geographical formation, where the river vanishes into a large cavern (called "The Sinks") but reappears downstream in a trout filled pool, "The Rise" about a half mile down the canyon. These trout live a life of leisure measuring upward of 26+ inches, while visitors feed them. Within the wall of Sinks canyon are Wyoming's best: the river, fish and wildlife, the mountains, wildflowers and sage, aspen and pine, a rugged quite country under blue skies. We have a very fun selection of restaurants in Lander,, and we will be happy to show you menus and make suggestions. We also have a fire-pit and a gas grill here on the property that you are welcome to use if you wish to cook something outdoors. Of course this unit is already set up for cooking. The Shoshone National Forest, The Wind River Wilderness and the Red Desert provide many beautiful hiking and four wheeling opportunities. One popular hike to the Popo Agie Falls brings you to a beautiful falls and pools, and if you persist over the granite boulders you will come to a pool with a natural rock slide that people like to use during high water. The Loop Road is a scenic drive, with 4 wonderful lakes you can stop and enjoy. It becomes a wonderful summer playground. You can find the hidden beach or explore the remote adventures on the far side of the lake in Kayaks, the most easy to maneuver of all UN-powered watercraft. We rent our Kayaks only to our guests. They are available at $25 per day. We encourage the buddy system for safety reasons. We will help you strap them on and be happy to make suggestions for our favorite places to paddle. After Hunting Season, the Loop Road becomes a winter playground for Snowmobiles, Snow Bikes, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. (Wild Iris and Gannet Peak Sports rent cross country skis and snowshoes.) Here on the property we have a fabulous sledding hill and tubes which are only available to our guests. For guest who would love the thrill of a snowmobiling experience, but don't have snow machines of their own. We will let you use our old machines in our attached field for just a little more than the cost of gas and maintenance, estimated to be $30 and hour, and yes we are happy to pro-rate the time after the first hour, and even spit the first hour between two machines.
