The SpaceCharming house on 2.5 acres, overlooking thousands of acres of the most beautiful desert nature. Walk off the back yard into a dirt road that leads up to the mountains and breathtaking walks among blooming desert willows, joshua trees, choyas, yuccas, and many other desert plants. Every sunset here is amazing. The sun sets behind the mountains and it is something not to be missed. After sunset, make a fire outside and with for the stars to cover the sky. The house has a living room, two bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen, breakfast bar, a reading room, and inside/outside dining room. wood burning stove in the reading room, outdoor fireplace, seating areas trough the property, and front and backyard. Guest AccessTo a clean, comfortable space inside and out - and some of the most beautiful surroundings that hopefully you have ever experienced. Interaction with GuestsWe have the utmost respect for your privacy. Thats not to say we have not shared a drink or glass of wine with a guest. But it should be all about you enjoying your time in the space. The Neighborhoodthis is the last house on a dirt road. It is on the ridge overlooking the mountains and open nature to explore. its quiet and peaceful. This is the desert, however, and there are all types of enthusiasts - you may hear the occasional sounds of dirt bike riding or target practice shooting. Occasionally when this occurs it is way back in the mountains - sound really travels far in the desert - so usually it is much further than it seems. Getting Aroundthere are no buses or trains or planes. A car is needed to get here and get around. Or a horse, of course…lol. Other Things to NoteThere is not much in terms of nightlife but hopefully you are not coming to this part of the world for that…However, there is a wonderful - and very happening - bar named Pappy & Harriet's in nearby Pioneertown that has live music nightly and excellent food and is a great place to experience. It is only about 16 minutes away and is a nice drive in itself - especially if you plan it around sunset. Also, there are fortunately 2 convenience stores that are very close - one at the end of Mira St. called Mojave Market (gas station as well) and then another about a mile down from there on the 247 called Hero's Market (gas station here as well) - they also have a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch and early dinner - not fancy but fine.

This is a small Studio Homestead that we are remodeling. So there could be materials stacked in the unit. As the place gets more complete the price will start to go up. As of 3.01.14 We are 100% insulated and drywalled. Its starting to come together.   The Space Great little Jackrabbit Homestead in Lander Ca. 1 miles to Integratron 10 to Pappy and Harriets 15 to Joshua Tree This is 2.5 acres. The cabin is under construction. There could and will be material stacked in rear corner. Great news, Now with Power and a Mini Fridge. There are overhead lights. Front and rear door lights. And a TV/DVD player to watch movies. Plus do not plug in anything more than a phone charger. This is a battery system that has limited power. The more you use the faster it will turn off. Remember it is an Off the Grid cottage. Now equipped with fire ring. Dont forget to bring wood. 2 Bundles per person per night is always a safe amount. A futon that can sleep 2, but 1 is much more comfortable. A queen and a twin Air Mattress are stashed in the coffee table. There is a battery air pump and one that plugs into a cigarette lighter, just incase the batteries go bad. A area to cook. Including 2 burner stove and propane. Pretty much everything to cook a meal with. Also a charcoal grill for your outdoor cooking needs. Dont forget the charcoal. There is a dining table with 5 wooden chairs, but we have 4 fold up chairs under the bed. A ton of board games. Now with a Horseshoe and Beanbag area out front. NOW WITH ALL NEW WINDOWS NO BATHROOM, EXCEPT A 5 GALLON CAMPING TOILET. Now equiped with metal roof and 2 new doors. Bring plenty of blankets. It could be COLD.... 5 dollar pizza palace This place will deliver a hot pizza to the property

The SpaceThe house is bigger than it looks from the outside with lots of space to lounge. Beautiful views of the desert, mostly quiet and peaceful except for the howling of coyotes and the occasional wolf! Lots of songbirds as well. Because of the space sometimes people like to bring friends and there is plenty of room if one can be flexible and sleep on air mattresses. The whole house can be reserved. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the whole house with the possible exception of the kitchen. That can be decided later. There are 7.5 acres to explore and now is the time of wild flowers. Interaction with GuestsI enjoy meeting and getting to know my guests as long as they are in agreement.Otherwise, of course I give them all the privacy they like. The NeighborhoodThere is no "neighborhood" as such. The location of the house is close to the highway 247 but far enough away to not be disturbed by traffic. The environment is peaceful but no one will mind if the guests make a lot of noise. Getting AroundThe only public transportation is a bus that runs infrequently and I don't recommend it unless there is no other option. Other Things to NoteBecause of the desert sand I prefer to leave my shoes at the entryway. It would be good to bring heavy socks or house slippers if possible.

The SpaceThis renovated homestead cabin is the ideal place to enjoy the peaceful serenity of the High Desert. It is located about 12 minutes from the town of Joshua Tree. From there it is another 6 minutes or so to the to the National Park entrance. It is a perfect place for a romantic couple’s retreat, a writing retreat or just spending recuperative time under the vast, clear skies of the Mojave. Hundreds of acres of native desert surround the cabin and sightings of desert quail, jackrabbits, and roadrunner are common. Three patios overlook the property’s two and half acres of beautiful desert landscape. This is an absolutely extraordinary place for stargazing, mindful reflection and getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I have spent many wonderful moments in this house and I hope you will enjoy the space and the wonderful desert around it as much as I do. Guest AccessFull kitchen, coffee maker, wood burning stove (best to buy a bundle in town), wifi, outdoor shower. Interaction with GuestsI live in Joshua Tree and can be contacted if there are any questions. The NeighborhoodThis part of Joshua Tree is quiet and sparsely populated. The skies are enormous out here and provide great opportunities for enjoying sunsets and the stars. Time seems to come to a standstill here and I have found this place to be an amazing place for creative work and reflection. Getting AroundYou will need your own vehicle to get to the cabin and to visit most of the sites in Joshua Tree. The last mile to the cabin is on a dirt road.

The SpaceThis secluded 1940's cabin is decorated in mid-century stylings with mountain views, surrounded by hundreds of acres of pristine desert. You can walk off the west patio and in minutes be in the middle of nowhere, finding trails and rusty treasures, being startled by jackrabbits, and overwhelmed by silence. The sun set view is GORGEOUS from the back porch swing, and the stars are ridiculously bright… unless of course the moon is waxing or full, then the magical blue light overtakes the sand and stars. There is one Queen sized bed, and one couch that folds down into a full-sized bed. Indoor and outdoor showers and tubs with unlimited super hot water. The home is "handi-capable" with bathroom bars and extra wide doorways. There are 3 outdoor patios, 2 swing-sets, outdoor fire pit, gas BBQ, indoor fireplace, indoor and outdoor showers and outdoor hot cowboy tub, and 3 shipping containers available for your use. There is laundry and full kitchen. The property is located on a dirt road 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree and a just a few more minutes to Joshua Tree National Park with great hiking, biking, and rock-climbing. Guest Access3 freight containers, entire house, and hundreds of acres of desert. Interaction with GuestsI rarely meet my guests, but I am always accessible via text and e-mail. The NeighborhoodSecluded and beautiful! Getting AroundYou need a vehicle.

The SpaceBefore I got it, the house was vacant for 14 years. I did 7 solid months of solo renovating, and am so excited to share it with you! The house is very much 'off the grid' and I guarantee one of the most serene, tranquil and relaxing stays. Objectively speaking, I've been out here 2 years and the views/experience from Starfire are paralleled by no house in the whole of the High Desert. In order to find that solitude, the house is on 2.5 miles (like 7 minutes) of dirt road. I wouldn't want it to be a surprise that the driveway goes uphill, however any car has been able to get up here (multiple prius's, civics, a mustang, some fancy ones) Because it's a thin metal and evening time lows can be quite chilly in the winter, it'd be impossible to heat the cowboy pool (especially when you think about standard hot tub wall thickness). Believe me - I've tried! Guest AccessThe place has WiFi (pretty absurd given its location!) and a TV with Netflix/HBOgo. I've wired every room with a pretty sweet Onkyo Receiver and Yamaha speakers to help 'amplify' the full solitude experience. There's a super cozy wood burning stove, an electric backup fireplace, a rocking evaporative cooler, a loft-bed portal-to-the-stars-observatory, and literally hundreds of uninhabited acreage to explore! Interaction with GuestsIf I'm out in the desert I'll meet you at the house for the keys and to show you around, otherwise I've got a great helper on deck. The NeighborhoodThe closest neighbor is at least half a mile away. The house is nestled on the crest on top of a hill, and is the only house on that hill. The views in every single direction are out of this world. If or some odd reason you need to go into JT town, it's 15 minutes away :P Other Things to NoteThe house is a one bedroom that can accommodate 2 people very well. There is an additional sleeping loft with a full sized bed, with the access to it through the bedroom. The couch is a pretty huge L shape, 8ft by 6ft. So I'd be happy to have up to 4, have even had 6, but it would have to be close and respectful friends!

The SpaceI'm offering 2 rooms in my 3 bedroom house, each one rented separately with a bathroom next to the rooms. Each room has wonderful desert views. The whole house is available (with the exception of the kitchen), and It is spacious with a large sunny balcony as well as a private garden area for sunbathing. The special aspect of this house is the quiet tranquility that is due to the relative isolation of the property. Also there are truly magnificent views of the desert. Guest AccessBreakfast according to guests' wishes with home baked bread and lots of variety. Also picnic lunches can be provided on request. I prefer to keep the kitchen off limits due to my baking business. Otherwise the rest of the house is open. Interaction with GuestsAccording to the desires of my guests I am very happy to share any information they may need or just to "hang out" with them if they like. I respect the wishes of my guests and am by nature very friendly. I may be around and about during their stay because of gardening or cleaning or cooking. Nonetheless they will have as much privacy as they wish. The NeighborhoodWhat makes this listing unique is the quiet of the desert as well as the spacious views. There are no neighbors nearby but lots of wildlife to observe. Other Things to NoteGenerally checkout times can be later rather earlier (noon) but there are weekend days when I have a commitment at noon, in which case checkout needs to be at 11:00 am. This is variable and I will always let the guests know ahead of time.

The SpaceChaparral Mesa includes both the Main Cabin as well as the Guest Cabana. The Cabin has a full kitchen (fridge, microwave, gas cooktop, toaster oven, coffee maker with coffee, kettle with tea, pots/pans/cutlery/all that), a full bathroom, the dining area, and the sitting area (couch folds flat into a full sized bed) with a brand new 50inch 4k TV (Netflix/HBOgo). The satellite Cabana has incredible desert and mountain views from your cozy and clean new queen sized bed. Both areas are cooled and heated. The wood burning stove was painted with non high heat paint by a previous owner so is only decorative but the electric one does just the trick for cozy ambiance. The Cowboy Pool or Cowboy Cool Dip is 6ft by 2ft high - dips over laps! Given its thin metal walls it is not heated. The dipping seasons is typically from May-October. So there's the original upgraded cabin with bathroom, an outhouse with a fully functioning flushing toilet, the satellite bedroom cabana, and a chance to experience the old frontier lifestyle! At the Mesa we believe design is great to be funky but for hygiene and cleanliness to be anything but! This is truly a unique and contemporary way to experience the old wild west of California! The NeighborhoodThe property is in the Copper Mountain Mesa section of Northern Joshua Tree, with huge expanses of desert to explore and call your own. The land has an indescribable sense of calm and peace, with clean air and no sounds of civilization! Getting AroundOf course by Car is the only way to get around Joshua Tree. The house is 15 minutes from the town/national park entrance and those are beautiful 15 minutes both there and back. Part of the charm is the last under a mile is on a dirt road that is traversable by any type of car.

The SpaceA reimagined 1950s homesteader cabin on 5 acres of open Mojave desert, surrounded by Joshua Trees. We fell in love with the desert, found this little abandoned 450 sq ft cabin, and decided to make a go at restoring it, the DIY way. Instagram: @homesweethomesteader Guest AccessThis cabin, and the 5 acres surrounding it, is all yours. Complete privacy - no shared walls/yard/fencing. Interaction with GuestsWe live closeby so available as you need us, otherwise you have your complete privacy. As our reviews show, we are always easily on-hand via phone, text or email and love to give recommendations or just talk desert stuff. To make it easier for you, we have a keyless entry so you don't have to worry about coordinating key handoffs or late check-ins. The NeighborhoodThe Homesteader is located in an area known as "The Mesa" by the locals - people are drawn to its wide-open desert vistas and amazing sunsets. Most properties are on 5 acre lots, with lots of open desert in between, so houses are more scattered about. At night you'll definitely see more stars than neighboring house lights. Shooting stars abound here - maybe because you're drawn up into the night sky out here. Our nearby neighbors are two horse ranches - some days you'll see more horses than passing cars. It's a pretty magical place. Getting AroundA car is needed. Other Things to NoteOur DreamBed (as we like to call it) features premium 100% cotton sheets and a fluffy feather duvet. Two pillows per person - your choice of firm or med/soft. Towels are premium 100% cotton too. All guest soaps (dish soap, hand soap, shower gel/shampoo) are natural plant-based soaps with essential oils. The house is ideal for a couple, as it true the original Homesteader Cabin dimensions (20'x25'). As needed, the couch folds out for an additional bed, please be aware that the bedroom wall does not reach to the top of the vaulted ceiling. The last 3/4 miles to the house is on a smooth, wide unpaved road suitable for any car. 4wd definitely not necessary, please drive slowly to keep the dust down for our neighbors (both human and equine).

It's 1969 and your rock n' roll London friends have a fabulous new house in Marrakesh and invited you away for the weekend. Pool, hot tub, outdoor fireplace, kitchen under the stars, wild design, all set on 2 1/2 private acres. Just say Yes, baby. Travel down a hard-pack dirt road to discover this freshly remodeled private house in north Joshua Tree that has mind blowing views sweeping across the valley from sunrise to sunset, a pool next to a raised hot tub wide open to the Milky Way. Here, it's 1969 and you're somewhere between Tangier and Algiers, but just a short drive from LA. But we love modern luxury too, so everything you want is here: a sparkling new kitchen with brand new appliances, all new bathrooms with thermostatic rain hood showers and endless instant hot water, fluffy towels, zoned heating and air conditioning for every room at the touch of a button, an oversized dining room table big enough for everyone, satellite Wi-Fi, a 55" flatscreen TV (digi channels only- Netflix and Hulu loaded up on Roku), and a shiny new washer/dryer combo that lights up when you open the doors! (Bought it in a bazaar) Outside is even more spectacular- When the stars go all the way to the night horizon, why would you NOT want to eat under the heavens? French bistro chairs seat 10 at a custom plank table in the outdoor kitchen. Whomever you corral to do the cooking at the flashy new propane over-sized grill (yes, it lights up when you open it, too!) will have a sink, more than enough counter space, and a fabulous vintage fridge to chill the Sancerre. We've got some grape vines growing up to cover the overhead trellis- give 'em a little encouragement while you're there! After dinner, head on over to the outdoor fireplace that looks directly across the valley to the setting sun and sink into the adirondack chairs- but don't fall asleep out here- Crawl into your pillow top cozy bed and get a good nights rest because tomorrow's schedule calls for the Big Pool Day and lounging in the sun for half of your party, while the other half wakes for sunrise yoga on our mini playa. Bring the pets (and that really just means dogs, right?) and let them have the run of the fully fenced 2 1/2 acres. We instantly fell in love with this magical, mystical place. We hope you will too.

Includes most of the convieniences of home such as water & power utilities, air conditioning, ceiling fans in livingroom & bedrooms, electric stove top, electric convection oven, microwave oven, toaster oven, coffee maker, coffee press, and full sized refrigerator. Kitchen has full compliment of dishes, glasses, pots, pans, silverware and cooking utensils. Each room has its own electric wall heater and there's a large brick fireplace in the living room. Cabin has a full bathroom with conventional toilet, vanity, sink, tub and shower. The outside rear of the cabin has a fire pit for relaxing around with family and friends, roasting marshmallows, making smores or cooking food. For your convenience, a wheelbarrow load of firewood to burn will be provided free of charge. In addition, the back yard has a horseshoe pit to test your ability. This is a fantastic location to unplug from "the matrix", decompress, and experience the best of what the high desert has to offer. It's an extremely peaceful and quiet area and is ideal for bringing family, friends and loved ones to deepen your connections through fellowship without having the numerous daily distractions of our normal busy lives. You can certainly find other places to book that will be located closer to other tourists, the National Park and Pappy & Harriott's; however, my property is ideal for those looking for a true get-away to experience the magnificance of the SoCal high desert. Guest AccessGuests will have full run of the entire cabin. Cabin will be stocked with all the basic kitchen, bedroom and bathroom supplies you would find in an extended-stay hotel except for hair dryer or clothes iron. There are no TV's in the cabin and internet service is not provided (after all, it is a getaway cabin!). If you do require a TV or some other electronic device, then please request in advance of booking and I will accommodate. I use Verizon Wireless for my own mobile phone service and get reliable phone, data and WiFi access on the property and the surrounding areas. Those with other carriers should expect poor access based on my experience. I personally will use a tablet or laptop with my Verizon Hotspot for playing music or watching HD movies on Netfilx from time to time. Works well for me, and I advise those with desires for this type of entertainment to bring your own electronics, content subscriptions, and data plan. You will find several legacy games and puzzles in a kitchen cabinet below the stove top. Games include Uno, Yatzee, Scrabble, Dominos and playing cards. There is a metal grate for grilling food outside over the fire pit and there is also a charcoal BBQ on site. If you think you'll need to use the BBQ, please let me know in advance so I can have it available for you (charcoal is not included). A full listing of all of the cabin's stocked supplies is available upon request. Interaction with GuestsI am accessible as needed during your stay and will be there to welcome you in and check you out. Please feel free to share your interests with me as I can also help provide scenic off-road & trail tours, off-road ATV tours, mining sites and prospecting tours, local cultural site tours, and more. My family and I are long time residents of the area and would love to assist with arranging any high desert activity or interactive tour you would like. So reach out to me anytime to formulate a unique adventure that best suits you. It is my sincere desire that you enjoy and discover the best Mojave Desert experience possible. The NeighborhoodThis is a perfect getaway for those looking for peace, quiet, beauty, wildlife and amazing night skies. The extremely low levels of light pollution in this area provides excellent star gazing opportunities nightly and is ideal for meteor showers. Sleeping outside under the stars is one of my favorite things to do while I'm at the property and there are cots available for outdoor sleeping. I am flexible on how the property is used provided it remains in the same condition as when you arrive. So please feel free to ask about any special arrangements you require. Whether it is a party, wedding, reunion, photo or film shoot, retreat, etc......I would love to accommodate your needs. The property is located right next to hundreds of miles of vast BLM land open to the public in the Johnson Valley, so it's an excellent location for adventurers and off-roaders. In fact, there is no need to load up all your off-road vehicles and gear to head to the designated Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) areas because you can ride directly from my property to access the vast BLM public lands only one mile away. The SpaceThis house is a cozy 1958 desert block cabin. Original details contrast with handcrafted modern design throughout. Although it is a cozy and designed space, it is not 100% done and is a little rough around the edges. Not all of the electrical outlets have been wired, trim work around doors and base of walls is not finished, kitchen cabinetry is temporary, although fully functional. Also - winter disclaimer - the bedrooms and bathroom have electric heaters to keep them warm, but the main space is heated by the fireplace. Firewood is included but it is a bit of labor to keep a fire going throughout your stay. This is not a place for someone used to city life, but it's perfect for someone looking to escape it! If cooking meals, listening to music, and laughing around a well stocked fireplace is your idea of a good time - come on out! Guest AccessHouse is available for guests. The trailer on the property is not available for rental at this time. Interaction with GuestsI am available via phone 24 hrs and I have a site manager nearby available for emergencies or critical questions. House/linens/towels will be cleaned and turnkey ready and key will be left in a lockbox. The NeighborhoodThe Roadhouse is located in the Flamingo Heights area of Yucca Valley. It is a remote community of old timers and artists who mostly live here year round. 20 min. to the town of Joshua Tree, 10 min. to the Integratron, and 1 min. to the newly opened bruch and supper club, La Copine. Amazing boulder formations and petroglyphs nearby (1.5-2 mi. down dirt road behind house) Getting AroundThere is amazing and extensive BLM land that begins one block from the house, with massive boulder formations a short 1.5 mi. hike or drive down a dirt road - do not attempt to drive this road however, unless you have 4wd! You can drive about a half mile in but when you see the hard packed road turn to sand, that is your cue to start hiking. I have towed several people out who thought they could make it in 2wd cars. Other Things to NoteWhile this house hosts many modern conveniences, it is in a remote area, a little rough around the edges, and the price reflects that, but all in all it's a very comfortable space. If you can't handle country living this rental may not be for you. Expect a little dust tracked in from the land and finish details in progress - this is a cabin after all. Most notably - the septic system is old in these cabins out here and are prone to clog easily with paper products. As such, used paper and feminine products do not go down the toilet. There is a lined bin with a lid next to the toilet for soiled paper products that is emptied for each rental and a bucket of sand for scooping over each use. This is an old school method and totally odorless and not so strange for folks living in near off-grid areas. As of now, there is no central heating, but there are electric radiators in bedrooms that keep the spaces toasty and an electric heater in bathroom. House is heated by complimentary firewood in the fireplace. Use caution when building fires and always use the fire screen provided. It is your responsibility to make sure embers are out in fireplace before leaving.

This is a larger home (1800 SF) with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen & wet bar. Each bedroom is oversized & equipped with a queen bed and its own seating area. Additional sleeping is on high-quality air mattress or pull-out couch. The master bedroom has en-suite bathroom with shower & jacuzzi tub; 2nd bathroom has shower. Full kitchen with dining area. Furnished with a mix of new and vintage furniture & artwork. Guest AccessYou have full use of the entire house and the land; property is large enough for hiking & riding bikes and right below the property there is a vast wilderness area for off-roading. Interaction with GuestsThis is our 2nd home & do not live nearby. We are available on our cell 24 hours a day. The NeighborhoodFirst of all, please remember that you are staying in the desert, not in an urban neighborhood! You are not completely isolated because there are several homes nearby but a car or motorcycle is essential since there is no public transportation. The house is accessible through a dirt road that is in good shape, so an SUV is NOT necessary. The nearest mini-market & gas station is only about 1.5 miles. Once you are ready to drive around 10 miles, a trove of unique experiences await you! - The Intergratron, designed in the 1950's by the engineer Von Tassel as a machine for rejuvenation & contacting aliens. Go to the building's web site and book yourself a "sound bath"! - The beautiful, world-famous Joshua Tree National Park, about 12 miles away; before or after your visit stop for a meal at the Crossroads Cafe, very close to the park entry. - Catch a show or have dinner or both at the super-hip Pappy & Harriet Saloon in Pioneer Town; make sure you book dinner or show tickets in advance because weekends sell out very quickly. - Ma Rouge Cafe in Yucca has good coffee, sandwiches, home-made quiche and wi-fi. - If you insist on Starbucks, there is one in Yucca town proper. - If you need a Mexican food fix, Las Palmas is a dive-y restaurant in Yucca that has some totally authentic dishes, including menudo & pozole. - Palm Springs & Palm Desert are about 35 miles away. - If you are going to Coachella, it is about 55 miles away. - Many antique/vintage stores in town; some have decent vinyl offerings. - A must-see for art lovers: the studio/art foundation of Noah Purifoy in Joshua Tree. Getting AroundPlease follow our directions to the house and do NOT follow GPS! Other Things to NoteHouse has no air-conditioning so July & August stays are discouraged!

Here, it's 1969 and you're somewhere between Tangier and Algiers, but just a short drive from LA. Inspired by the jet set socialite & rock n' roll crowd that made Marrakesh their home away from home in the late 60's and early 70's, the house is designed with time & place in mind: Simple, clean white walls with dark wood doors and trim, cool stone floors (ok, ours are painted concrete, but, yeah) set off by fabulously wild colorful shag rugs, turquoise & white leather padded headboards, everything in gold or brass, pop art, curated photos of the day and Moroccan street scenes. It's all bright & bold accents set against a visually soothing foundation. Guest AccessThe pool is unheated, but great for summer plunges or after hot-tub cool downs. Interaction with GuestsYou'll have the place all to yourself, but we have local help if anything comes up and you need assistance. The NeighborhoodThe house is situated on the Copper Mountain Mesa in north Joshua Tree with spectacular views overlooking empty desert. Other Things to NoteDisclaimers: The pool is unheated, but great for summer plunges, after hot-tub cool downs, or, just really hot people. And although the yard is fenced in, please be mindful about letting pets and children roam free. The desert is still a dangerous place with things like coyotes, venomous Mojave Green snakes and chance alien abductions. What does all this mean? We cannot be responsible for any accidents, injuries or anal probes.
