The SpaceThis charming, secluded cabin is an ideal weekend getaway: Camano Island connects to the mainland via bridge. It is a 70 mile drive from downtown Seattle , (usually about 1.5 hours), but feels worlds away. This is the perfect spot for a couple's get away, girlfriend's reunion or small family. Parties and after hours noise are discouraged. This is the perfect spot for a couple's get away, girlfriend's reunion or small family. The cabin features wide-plank pine floors, a full kitchen, and charming gas stove with a window. The sleeping loft is accessed by secure ladder and features a queen bed with down comforter and all cotton bedding. Downstairs there is a convertible queen sofa bed - more comfortable than a traditional hide-a-bed and bedding is provided. The kitchen has been thoughtfully appropriated with a French press, a variety of pots, pans and utensils. We have tried to cover all the basics and you'll find some food staples to use such as oil, salt, pepper and sugar. Please enjoy our collection favorite games and books, as well as a record player with MP3 jack and vintage vinyl. The cabin sits on a very private 3.5 wooded acres with trails throughout. A private community sandy beach is a short, but steep, 10-15 minute walk on the road. If you prefer to drive, you'll find parking, a boat ramp, and a single kayak available for your use. The beach is sheltered, and faces west to Whidbey Island. The Saratoga Passage hosts abundant wildlife, fishing, and beautiful sunsets. We have the beach completely to ourselves, more often than not! In summer you can pick berries, fish, swim, and catch crab. We've got beach umbrellas and towels for you to use. Watch the gray whale migration in Spring. In winter, bundle up and see how far along the driftwood-strewn shore you can walk. Please note that there is a short but steep path/trail to get on the beach. It's about the height of a flight of stairs, but dirt. Guests with limited mobility may only be able to access the beach when the tide is low and one can walk on to the beach via the boat ramp. Our guests always comment on how quiet and peaceful our cabin is, and we could not agree more. The stress of city life just melts away and time seems to slow down a bit when you've got nothing on your agenda but to build a fire, open a bottle of wine and take a walk. You'll be surprised what a couple of days away can do! The cabin is about 1.5 hours from Seattle, 1.5 hours from the Anacortes/San Juan Ferry, 45 minutes from Mount Vernon and the Skagit Valley. Check in time is any time after 3:00. Check out of the cabin is noon, but you're welcome to use the beach all day. If you need to make other check in/our arrangements I will be flexible if possible. You'll find several good grocery stores on the way in Stanwood to stock up on provisions. The Elger Bay market is 5 miles away with basics, fishing supplies and gas. They also fill growlers of beer and we have an empty growler for your use at the cabin. We keep our guest interaction to a minimum because most guests are looking for a secluded get-away. We are happy to give advice on the area, and will answer questions and concerns promptly. The community of Summerland is a collection of homes and cabins on wooded and beach-front acreages. This is the perfect spot for a couple's get away, girlfriend's reunion or small family. Parties and after hours noise are discouraged. Very peaceful and quiet with private community access to one of the best beaches on the island! Stanwood, LaConner, and Mount Vernon are close enough for dinner with fantastic restaurant choices. Please note: There is no wifi or internet service. We have a strong cell signal with AT&T. Guests with other carriers report good service, especially at the beach. Additionally, please note that this is NOT a luxury vacation rental - while we do keep the cabin maintained to a very high standard you may see a spider or such. The cabin is located in an untamed forest setting: bugs, deer, birds, stinging nettles and everything that makes the Great Northwest wild exist here at the cabin. Here's a partial list of what we have at the cabin for your use: French Press hair dryer iron complete kitchen with blender and toaster ice bedding towels beach towels and beach rug beach umbrellas that screw into the sand sand toys small charcoal bbq basic toiletries & first aid record and mp3 player deck chairs Guest AccessRecord player with MP3 jack and records, good cell service (but no wifi), fully stocked kitchen, tiled shower, furnished deck. The SpaceMy home is vibrant and warm. There are stairs to climb up to the main floor. Your room is about 12x14, with a large closet, secretary desk, bookshelf loaded with good books, rocker and an Ikea bed made up as a single but convertible to an ample king. The 3/4 guest bathroom is across the hall. Guest AccessYou have access to your south facing, locking bedroom and a freshly painted bathroom. If no one is on the deck, enjoy the view. Sorry, kitchen is not available, but bring your tea - there's a hot pot in your room. And a fridge for left overs, breakfast fixin's or snacks. The back yard is a wide open space for lying on the grass. I have lawn chairs you can take down there. I may not be home when you arrive but will tell you how to get in. Come up the stairs, take a right. Your room is on the left and bathroom on the right. There are renters on the ground floor who can also help. My private rooms are at the end of the hall and I appreciate you considering it my sanctuary. Your room and bathroom will be clean and well-appointed. Most of the time the rest of the house is tidy too, but don't be surprised if I have several projects going in the living room (including dishes) as I am a writer, involved in the community and often on deadlines so I clean up in spurts. It's my home, not a hotel! I'm very quiet (no loud music, hoards of friends), but I have lots of projects in various stages of complete. Interaction with GuestsI can be helpful to get you oriented but am quite introverted in my home to rest from the extroversion of travel and presentations - and to follow the muse when she shows up. I love hosting my AirBnB by giving you what you need and letting you feel at ease to come and go. Sometimes we don't even see one another! The NeighborhoodI live on a cul de sac in a neighborhood with one road in so it's very safe and quiet. We help one another out. The trees are mature, the landscaping too. It's on the edge of farms, woods and village. And the view! I couldn't live without the view. It's a 5 minute walk to the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (think Djangofest and good theater) and a short drive to the Shakespeare Festival tent. In 15 minutes you're in downtown Langley (think art, movies, restaurants, beach, mountain views, expensive hotel). Getting AroundThere is a free bus on the island but don't count on it going everywhere at every time. Bring your car. A taxi company can get you to my house from the Shuttle from Seatac if that's how you are coming in. (URL HIDDEN) Other Things to NoteThere's a renter in a MIL apt on the ground floor. I'm the only critter on the main floor. Oh, and my cat. If you are allergic to cats you won't want to visit! For your cell, ATT has a great signal, the others less so.

Just across the street is Mikes Restaurant for solid old fashioned cuisine with great specials and the best pies in town. Try their Huevos Rancheros for breakfast. Want to get away from it all? Only one block away is the beach walk where you can let the ocean do it's magic. Or wander down to the harbor and assist with lines at the dock; the new boat owners can always use a little help! Just above the harbor is the Edgecliff for lunch, one of our favorites perched on a spectacular bluff with some of the best views in Puget Sound. We recommend the local Dungeness crab or Penn Cove oysters harvested just a few miles away. When you return from a day of exploring or listening to the locals ramble on at the Whidbey Coffee House, return to the luxury of your penthouse where nothing was spared to make it comfortable and complete, just the way you like it. There is a kitchen that a gourmet will love, with a charming cocktail counter, or is it a breakfast nook? At first it will have you smiling, and then wondering at the games you will play there:Scrabble anyone? The furnishings are beautiful and luxurious; you will be asking us, where did you get that? Some of the things we have are custom made for us by island craftsmen. And, you'll find yourself enjoying at the wonderful art collection; they come from the owner's collection of over 300 originals. The beds are reaalllly comfortable; you might not want to leave your bedroom and that's OK; hey you're on vacation! And you don't have to, as each bedroom is complete with it's own media system. If you want to catch up on all those videos you've been meaning to watch, you can do them in surround sound with the Great Room cinema system designed by the island top media engineer; all while you cozy up to the fireplace:do I smell popcorn? Speaking of which, across the street and around the corner is something that will take you back in time:and they serve the best popcorn on the island! The Clyde Theatre, an island icon right out of the 40's, complete with old fashioned balcony. The Clyde owner just seems to know the right movies to bring in each week; we're sure there is something you'll want to see. If you go to a movie, you might want to make an evening of it by having dinner at the Caf Langley which features exceptional eastern mediterannean cuisine, and has won many awards. Say hi to the owner Archy for us; he and his brother have done a great job making this a must on your trip. After the movie, walk up the block and pop upstairs to the Prima Bistro and order that special cocktail from Terry the bartender; he'll tell you some stories while you watch the boats pass on Saratoga Passage. If it's warm, you can dine outside. Sometimes they have Danny playing, whose band was featured in "An Officer and a Gentlemen" (remember the scene at the officers club when Richard Gere and Debra Winger first dance?). Need we say more? Stay at the Langley Penthouse and see why the luxury travel reviewers so love this island, and the seaside village of Langley. You will too. Right in the heart of beautiful downtown Langley.
