The SpaceAlthough small and without views, our flat is quiet, cosy and close to the beach. Ideal for 1 or 2 people for a short break away from the bright lights of the City of Life that is Hong Kong.
The flat has one bedroom with a double bed and wardrobe, bathroom with walk-in shower, sitting/dining room and kitchenette with fridge, washer, microwave, 2-burner electric hotplate and an electric toaster oven. The bedroom and living area are both fitted with split-system aircon units, plus a ceiling fan in the bedroom and wall fan in the living area. Guest AccessFull access to the whole apartment including wardrobe space in the bedroom.
Other people live in the flat upstairs, and the nearby houses are all closely packed around, so please just observe the normal neighbourly courtesies. Interaction with GuestsWe will not be present so you will have the flat to yourself. We also live in Tong Fuk - not in same house but not far away - and are available via Whats App, Viber, phone or email to help with any enquiries.
As we like to be able to recognise our guests, please make sure your profile includes a photo showing your face. Thanks. The NeighborhoodOur flat is right in the middle of the traditional South Lantau village of Tong Fuk. In the village are a Chinese restaurant, local breakfast/lunch cafe, a curry house and the Gallery, a pizza/BBQ restaurant and bar.
Also nearby are other beaches, including Cheung Sha and Pui O, with more choices of restaurants, bars and cafes.
Our main town is Mui Wo, about 15-20 minutes away by taxi or bus. Mui Wo has ferry connections to Central and to other outlying islands, as well as a choice of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and other shops and services. See below for more details. Getting AroundThe flat is close to the Tong Fuk bus and taxi station, with connections to the ferry and local services at Mui Wo and the MTR and shopping centre at Tung Chung. Buses and taxis also connect to Tai O and Ngong Ping. Other Things to NoteTong Fuk also has a couple of local shops but no supermarket or convenience stores and no ATM. So if you plan to prepare your own food you will need to bring supplies with you or stock up in Mui Wo or Tung Chung on your way.
Nearby Tong Fuk are lots of walking trails in the Lantau hills to choose from, beaches to explore and watersports to enjoy.
Our local town centre, Mui Wo is 20 minutes away by bus, with ferry connections to Central as well as Cheung Chau and Peng Chau islands. Other facilities in Mui Wo include 2 supermarkets, a bakery, HSBC and BEA banks (with ATMs), hairdressers, bicycle shops and Government facilities including post office, medical clinic, swimming pool, wet market, community centre and gym.
Tung Chung is also 20 minutes by bus, and has a major outlet shopping mall, hotels, MTR station and easy connections to the airport.
Things to watch out for:
You will find feral cattle and buffalo all over South Lantau including in the village - they are gentle creatures but they are large and not tame so look but stay clear and don't touch!
You may also see a few stray dogs hanging around. They generally will not bother you provided you don't bother them. Treat them with normal respect and caution and don't try to pat them.
Finally as with other parts of the New Territories and HK there are also at times hordes of mosquitos around including in the village and around the house. We have an electric mozzie trap outside that runs 24/7, plus electric repellent devices inside that you can also run constantly, and the flat windows are all screened. You will also find the flat well stocked with mosquito coils and spray repellent for your use.
