The SpaceThe room is in private corner of the house, with two openable windows, one is a large picture window looking out onto a little zen fern garden backed by apple and citrus trees. There is a microwave, coffee/hot water maker, small fridge in the room. The futon is a comfortable full-size. Guest AccessGuests have shared access to pool and large, rustic deck. Jacuzzi is available (which is awesome on a cool or rainy evening!), but host has to be there to turn it on (it falls just short of needing an engineering degree to do so). $7.00 fee covers the cost of heating it up. Family room with cozy fire place, large screen TV, workout bench, dartboard, game table, shared with Spencer, but he doesn't use the family room that much. Also the bathroom with shower/bathtub shared with Spencer. All of the above, including guest room and deck, are all on the same level, which is yours to use (except Spencer's room of course). Peggy and Brad live mostly on the upper floor, where the kitchen and living room are. Access to the main kitchen is available for doing dishes. One mountain bike is available to use. Interaction with GuestsPeggy and Brad are entrepreneurs with a young company (which makes eco-friendly utensils), so they spend very long hours at the local office, so you may not see them too much during the week, but are around most of the weekend, and are happy to share tips all the local hot spots! (^:
Spencer (22) is an aspiring cinematographer and goes to college locally, and he is helping make sure our guests are comfortable, and is around occasionally during the week. The NeighborhoodThe house is two charming blocks from the quaint little town of Larkspur. Enjoy an amazing view of Mount Tamalpais as you wind your way down to town. The renowned Left Bank restaurant is right there at the end of our street. The area is known for it's many walking and biking trails, some of which start right from our cul-de-sac. You can hike up a sunny mountainside, breath the amazing air of a local redwood forest hike, or take it easy on many flat and/or paved trails along the maze of local waterways. Trail guide provided. Getting AroundBuses to San Francisco are two blocks away. You will want to partake in a 45 minute ferry ride from Larkspur landing to the city while you are here! Great views as you approach SF by water.
Using a car, here are times to key destinations (map provided):
San Francisco: 20 minutes
Golden Gate bridge: 10 minutes
Sonoma: 30 minutes
Napa: 45 minutes
Muir woods (AMAZING redwood forest) 40 minutes
SF Bay: 10 minutes or less
Beaches: starting at 20 minutes away
Wilderness trails, including Mount Tamalpais, starting at 5 minutes away (car not needed) Other Things to Note• Our resident Corgi, Dusty, has been universally recognized as adorable, but he will bark annoyingly for a few seconds anytime you come in the door while we are here, moments later, after he has established he is in charge, he will be acting all cute again. Corgis shed, so there can be little weekly fur accumulations in the corners of the common areas. For this reason, he is not allowed in the guest room.
•The Guest room is very clean. The house is lived in by our busy family, so for the common spaces, please expect clean, but not immaculate (^:
•Occasionally, Spencer may have friends in the shared family room while we have guests, so there could be opportunity additional interaction with the "local" college-aged young people, if everyone so desires.
•Peggy is not really a morning person, so keep your expectation low for chirpy interaction on weekday mornings (^:
