There is a great bagel shop and a gluten free bakery five blocks from the house and plenty of restaurants. If you are an early riser, you may wish to join me on a nature walk with Kaiser. Fridge, kitchen, backyard, family room. Musicians who need to warm up for auditions may use the Steinway grand when I am not using it. We have an additional large fridge in the basement so if you wish to buy groceries to save on eating out, there is usually plenty of room in the extra fridge or in our regular fridge upstairs! Interaction with GuestsGene commutes to NYC and/or works out of his home office and I work on line in the mornings. Most afternoons/evenings I am in and out teaching music both in the home and in studios in Princeton and environs. I like to chat and am a natural encourager/mentor, but also need time to get my work done. When available, I am happy to drop off/pick up at Princeton J, Dinky- or Trenton- train stations. Our children attended a Midwest boarding school; one of our sons played football for P-ton University. We so appreciated B&B's when we visited our kids. Thus, we welcome students and/or parents who are visiting their children at one of the universities, attending alumni events, going to sporting event weekends, or visiting educational institutions in the area. The NeighborhoodThis is a quiet family neighborhood with beautifully landscaped homes and friendly people. We are a 10-15 minute walk (0.6 mile) from downtown Lawrenceville where there is a wonderful Bagel Shop, a drive through Starbucks, a Gluten Free Bakery, the Bus Stop to get to Princeton and/or to the train stations (P-ton Station and/or Trenton Station), and other fine restaurants. The city bus stops on Lawrenceville's Main Street (.6 mile from our house). If you need a ride to the train station or a nearby community and if I am available, I'd be glad to drop you off or pick you up when I am available, just give us a call or text. Other Things to NoteWe have a beautiful Shepherd/Husky rescue dog, Kaiser, who is friendly and affectionate. He is accustomed to people, children, and dogs as I teach music in our home. If he slips out the door to run his own private Iditarod, he knows where home is! We lived in NYC for many years and have been in the area a long time. We are glad to share our experience, travel tips, or answer questions about the area when we are able. We also lived in Europe for several years. The SpaceSecond floor spare bedroom has a twin size day bed and comfy Ikea chair with footstool. The day bed can be used as a couch to lounge on, or the cushions come off to leave you with a nice twin size bed. Under the bed, we keep a nice Ikea foam mattress which serves as an improvised trundle bed for a second guest. Black out curtains make the room great for sleeping in--or they can be pulled back if you enjoy the morning light. Convenient access to shared second floor bathroom. Alternately, I can set up the pull out couch on the first floor for you, which is somewhere between Full Size and Queen. I add a mattress topper to make the pull out mattress more comfortable. Convenient access to the first floor half bathroom. In this configuration, you get the dining room closet to stow your gear. Obviously, the living room pull out is less private, but it may be better for those who don't care for climbing stairs. It's one or the other, not both. Just let me know which you prefer when you book. We will only have one occupied at a time. Guest AccessI have electronic locks, so you will get your own code. You will be able to come and go as you please. In addition to your private second floor room, you'll have access to the entire first floor, with kitchen, dining room, living room/office, as well as backyard space. Smokers are welcome to use the backyard. The unfinished portion of the basement has washer/dryer that you are also free to use. There is a TV in the basement that can be used by guests for Netflix or Hulu (no cable though). Please feel free to inquire about additional details that might make your trip more comfortable. Interaction with GuestsSometimes work from home and sometimes out running errands. We can be available to advise, but don't need to be in your business. You walk a little ways from the parking lot through the courtyard to our front door. We are about a block from The Village Park, which is a rambling park area with paved walking paths as well as tennis courts, basketball courts, softball fields, etc. Through the Village Park, you can access the Lawrence-Hopewell Trail, which provides more than 10 miles of trails (some paved, some not) through Mercer County including Mercer Meadows, Main Street Lawrenceville, Stony Brook Millstone Watershed, Dyson Tract park (access to D&R Canal towpath) and more. It's a quick walk or drive to a strip mall with a convenience store, dry cleaner, diner, Chinese food, Japanese food, bagel store, and a frozen yogurt shop (specifics are listed in our guidebook). The SpaceThis home is perfectly located in this quaint village setting of Lawrenceville. Only four miles from Princeton. My favorite thing to do is to stroll out of my front door and join my local neighbors to the new bakery The Gingered Peach for yummy breads and croissants down the street or Starbucks if you're a fan! It's quickly becoming a bikers community with lovely trails linking village park to greater Mercer County Park trails. Perfectly located to either take the scenic routes through farms and orchards or jump on 206 and get anywhere in minutes. Within a 10 mile radius, I can find many things to occupy my passion for the outdoors and the wonderful diverse cultural attractions this region offers. One hour by train to NYC or one hour drive to Philadelphia, or 5 minute car ride to Terhune Orchard and Winery. Guest AccessBesides the warm and lovely home and all its modern commodities, you have access to two bikes in the garage. I just renovated my patio and you will enjoy sitting out there at night at the fire pit. It's a peaceful place. Interaction with GuestsI'm looking forward to handing you the keys and giving you tips to my lovely town. But I'm most likely to be galavanting globally so I'll be sure someone in my family can greet you. They only live a mile up the road. The NeighborhoodI love sitting in the front patio and watching families walk down the street for the early morning stroll to the Gingered Peach bakery or late afternoon walks to the Purple Cow ice cream parlor. I also enjoy the summer concerts in the park (two blocks away) on Thursdays where we get a chance to interact with our neighbors. I like walking to Village park (three blocks) and seeing community life with kids playing soccer and tennis as I walk or ride the trails. It's a really fun town to live in. Getting AroundAccess to the NJ Transit bus is two blocks away. The bus line takes you directly into Princeton/Trenton.
