The SpaceThis recently renovated apartment is a breath of fresh air in Leadville. A total of 1600 square feet and everything is brand new! The rental unit is a walk-out garden level apartment that boasts lots of natural light with full-sized windows throughout. The kitchen is completely new and features stainless appliances, including a glass top range and top of the line dishwasher. Although there are 4 double or queen beds (including a pull out couch) the suggested occupancy is 6 or fewer adults. Guest AccessGuests make themselves at home with the complete lock-off lower level apartment for their use. Includes a full kitchen, laundry, living areas, bathroom and bedrooms. Parking is off-street and shared with upstairs tenants. Guests are welcome to use the outdoor space and the charcoal grill. The main front door leads to the private upstairs living area, access to the rental unit is a separate entry along the west side of the house. Interaction with GuestsChip and I will usually be around (upstairs actually!) to address any questions or concerns the guests may have, or just to provide recommendations for activities/restaurants. We love our home and are always eager to share it with others. The NeighborhoodLeadville is a small town, leaving almost everything within walking distance. Our home is only 3 blocks off the main street where you can find many restaurants, shops and bars. Also within walking distance is the Mineral Belt Trail, a paved walking/biking trail that creates a loop around town and passes through several historic mining districts. In the winter the trail is groomed for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or fat tire biking. Getting AroundPersonal vehicles are the most common mode of transportation but Leadville is small enough that walking can pretty much take you from one end to the other (The grocery store is a little far to carry back more than a few basics, walking it is 30-40 min one way). There are 1-2 buses/day that run (Leaving Leadville in the early morning and returning early evening) to the surrounding communities of Frisco/Vail and from there can continue on to other towns and ski hills. Shuttles run from the airport to several towns nearby on a regular basis and can catch a bus from there to Leadville. Just be sure to check schedules! Other Things to NoteLeadville is the highest incorporated city in North America, at over 10,000 ft elevation it is important to take care or yourself in order to avoid altitude sickness. It is common for people coming from a much lower elevation to experience some symptoms upon arrival. Please plan your trip to give yourself an adjustment day before tackling a big hike or ski. At this elevation weather is always a factor, be ready for snow in August or a sunburn in January!
