The SpaceVisiting a child at Dartmouth? Coming for business at DHMC? Want a fall color trip, summer lake escape, or winter cross-country ski getaway in New England? Our place is perfect for you. Sleep in this gold jewel box of a bedroom with comfortable queen-sized bed, Italian marble floors and a giant picture window with an incredible view of the lake, mountains, and stars. Private bath with shower and bathtub is attached to your room. In summer, step out the front door for kayaking, fishing, or swimming in Mascoma Lake, or out the back door to hike or bike the 20-mile Northern Rail Trail between Lebanon and Grantham NH; a short walk along the trail brings you to the Mascoma river for fly fishing. We can lend you the kayak, a bike, and/or basic fishing tackle, or feel free to bring your boat for waterskiing or other adventures. In winter, snowshoe across the frozen lake or on the trail, or ice-skate on our front yard rink. Small kids love to sled down the hill! Warm up afterward with cocoa in front of the wood stove. We have snowshoes to lend for adults and kids, or bring your skis or snowmobile to use on the trail. We're a 10 minute drive to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and a 15 minute drive to Dartmouth College, too. The room is perfect for a couple. We have a child and welcome children; if you bring a child or two along, they can sleep on an air mattress we'll provide in our son's playroom, or on a futon in the living room, adjacent to your room. NEW: We now have a gorgeous new 3 person outdoor hot tub with a view of the lake! A NOTE ABOUT PRICING: For certain dates, you will see the price is markedly higher; $150/night. On these dates, the price is for the run of the house; you'll have the place to yourself and the house on those dates can accommodate 4-5 people instead of the usual 2-3. Also these dates only *may* include (depending on the timing of your visit) a trip to a local Vermont CSA farm and a free basket of local, seasonal organic produce for you to use during your stay; contact us for details about whether this perk is available for the dates you book.

The SpaceWe have a unique home on 2 acres. We live sustainably. We love to garden, and raise chickens. Guest AccessWe rent two private guest rooms and one private bathroom in the upstairs portion of our home. There is a doorway to close off the upstairs area for privacy. The kitchen and living room are a shared space in the downstairs region of the home. Laundry room is available upon request. Interaction with GuestsDepending on the date(s) booked, we may or may not be present during your stay. Our rooms are in the downstairs region of the home and we have two young children. If this is a concern, please message us before booking. The NeighborhoodLovely, rural neighborhood. Near the famous Farnum Hill Reserve and Poverty Lane Orchards. Beautiful summer blooms, to die for Fall foliage, white, snowy Winters, and a moist, thawing Spring with running creek behind our house. Getting AroundThe Upper Valley area has a modest public transit system called Advance Transit. It is free and I have heard that it is fairly good, but that it has a limited schedule and route. I have not utilized it myself and cannot speak first-hand about how good or bad it is. Unfortunately, it does not go to our neighborhood, but can be relied on if you are already in the towns of Lebanon and Hanover (on the New Hampshire side of the river), or White River Junction and Hartford (on the Vermont side of the river). More information on their routes and schedules can be found online. Because the public transit does not go to our home, we recommend either a car rental, or utilizing the taxi service to get to our house. We are out and about quite a bit ourselves and should we be in a position to help you with a ride, we gladly will. During the Spring, Summer and Fall, a rental car with front-wheel drive should be sufficient. However, the winter months make for difficult driving conditions. We strongly recommend all-wheel drive vehicles with snow tires. We do the best we can to keep the driveway clear should a bad snowstorm arise; however cars can still get stuck. If conditions are particularly bad and you do not have an all-wheel drive vehicle, we will recommend you park on the street and walk up to the house (our driveway is about 200 feet, or, 61 meters). Other Things to NoteTwo spacious rooms equipped with queen-sized beds with hypoallergenic foam pad & pillowcases. Extra sheets, towels, pillows, and blankets are provided. Air purifier if desired (stored in the closet), window A/C unit(s), as well as an ironing board and iron. Kitchen has microwave, fridge, gas stove, cookware, dishes, and dishwasher. We keep a variety of tea and coffee on hand for the guests. In the morning, guests are welcome to help themselves to whatever beverages we have (typically tea, coffee, or milk) and any other breakfast goodies (typically instant oatmeal or cereal, boiled eggs and fruit).

The SpaceThis location is perfect for anyone looking for short commutes around the area. Notable places include: DHMC 12 mins, Dartmouth/Hanover 15 mins, APD 2 mins (walking distance), West Lebanon 6 mins (shopping). I maintain the townhouse on a regular basis- if anything needs repairs, it's fixed asap since I have to live with it. There is some storage space in the basement plus bike racks outside. You have your own parking space right in front of the door. Guest Access- Private bedroom with bedroom door lock - Brand new full size bed, desk, dresser, nightstand, and closet - Shared full bathroom (you have entire right half of bathroom vanity and a full shower rack) - Towels and other bathroom items available (razor, tooth brush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, etc.) - Fully stocked kitchen including gas stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker (drip, French press, espresso), pots and pans, toaster, blender, crock pot, plates/cups/utensils - One large kitchen cabinet for your food/anything - Washer and dryer in basement - TV with basic cable and Roku (Netflix/pandora/etc.) - Wifi 25 MB/sec - Outdoor pool (open in summer) - Essentially the only thing you don't have access to in the house is my bedroom- otherwise 'mi casa es su casa' Interaction with GuestsI enjoy having some conversation after work everyday and would love to get to know you and where you're from! On my days off I'm always up for exploring and would love to show you some of the fantastic hiking trails as well as the numerous adorable towns in the area. If you'd prefer to enjoy peaceful alone time in the Upper Valley that's perfectly fine too! I've got lots of way to distract myself which mostly involves studying endlessly. I work quite a bit so you will have the place to yourself most of the time anyway. The NeighborhoodWell, considering Lebanon was just ranked the #1 small town in the country, there's not much else I need to do to convince you how great it is. The people here are fantastically nice and there is every basic store you could ever need ('whole foods'-esk stores, bars, restaurants, Walmart, Home Depot, Sears, JCpenny, Kohl's, Staples, etc). Lebanon has a great farmers market every Thursday on the town green (seasonal) and there are free bus lines running all over the area. Your veins will likely start to resemble maple syrup, cheese and beer if you get into the local culture enough. Every weekend there are festivals and events somewhere within an hour drive and the skiing and snowboarding here is phenomenal. There are also lots of cross country skiing areas here (if you know how and want to teach me I would be very grateful!). While the night life is a little tame here, the local beer choices at the bars are great. If you're looking for a crazy night out, Manchester and Concord are an hour away and the seacoast is just over an hour where there are plenty of clubs and cheap hotels to stay at. Getting AroundFree buses around the Upper Valley! Routes and schedules can be found online: "Advance Transit Inc" "The Dartmouth Coach" provides affordable transport to Boson and New York City everyday The West Lebanon airport is 7 minutes away Plenty of taxi services and some Uber rides (not super plentiful but they do exist) Other Things to NoteYour bedroom door has its own lock and I do not keep a copy of the key. If you get locked out, I will ask that you pay for any repairs/locksmith fees required to get back into your room.

The SpaceTwo bedroom, two bath house with open kitchen/living room area. Guests stay in the upstairs area, which is a bathroom, bedroom, and small office. Nothing special but warm and cozy! I try to stay out of the upstairs when guests are staying with me, so should be pretty private. But occasionally I need something out of the office. Fully equipped kitchen, space in the fridge, and you're welcome to anything food-wise. I cook and bake a lot so there's usually lots of options, and can easily accommodate food preferences/allergies. Guest AccessAnywhere but my bedroom/bathroom. Interaction with GuestsI'm happy to help out in any way during your stay! I often work in the kitchen/dining area, but will stay out of your space while you're here. Will try to accommodate what you want in terms of interaction! The NeighborhoodSafe neighborhood. Walking distance to the Lebanon town green, lots of local trails and parks to visit! Getting AroundWalking distance to the Advanced Transit system (free bus system that runs to the hospital and college). Parking in my driveway (in the winter may have to coordinate car order, as you can't park on the streets). Other Things to NoteI have a small dog (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel). He's super sweet and likes everyone! But is not hypoallergenic. I don't have cable but have an Apple TV in the living room space with Hulu, Netflix, CBS, etc. that you're welcome to use. Good reliable WiFi. I have extra towels, sheets, soaps, etc. available. Space heaters available in the winter for extra heat if needed. No central A/C but I have a portable window unit that can be set up in the bedroom. The upstairs is up a somewhat steep flight of stairs, so this probably isn't the best fit for you if you have difficulty with stairs.

The SpaceThe architectural detail in the home is worth noting. It has good bones and has had stylish, sensible renovations. One floor living is a plus. Guest AccessThe first floor is the main living space. Although there is a garage under, it is not suitable for parking inside. There is plenty of free parking on site with easy access. There is a loft upstairs that is perfect for exercise space, and modestly furnished for such. Interaction with GuestsWe may meet briefly when you arrive, or we can arrange a key drop location. You won't be bothered by us unless you need us. We are a phone call away. The NeighborhoodThis family oriented neighborhood is safe and quiet. Getting AroundAdvance Transit is a free bus accessing much of the Upper Valley. It's a ten minute bus ride to DHMC, and fifteen to Dartmouth College. The house is three blocks from the bus stop, and downtown. There are shops, restaurants and fitness center at the near end of the rail trail. Storrs Hill is a small ski area nearby.

Interaction with GuestsDepending on the date, I may be around and would be happy to help out! I am rarely in the bed/bath downstairs (which has an exterior entrance and no animals). While home, I am either in the common areas or in my second floor bedroom. Other times, I may not be home and the whole house will be open to guests. Other Things to NoteTwo indoor, extremely friendly cats. They must stay indoors so all exterior and basement doors should stay closed. The cats do not go into the bottom bedroom space. Sometimes there is a puppy bouncing around too.
