The SpaceCome stay in this spacious room with double bed and private bathroom, plus access to a gigantic kitchen, lovely living room, back yard and basement romper room with a pool table and a ping pong table. Parking is on site. And there's Wifi, of course! Two bicycles are available for you to ride to Smith College or downtown Northampton on the safe, beautiful bike path. Look Park or a gorgeous lake trail walk are .25 miles away. Retro diner and cozy cafe walking distance from house. Five minute drive to downtown Northampton. Pet-friendly. Guest AccessGuests can enjoy the spacious, fully appointed kitchen, open living room, dining room and sunny back deck (as well as their private room and bath.) If they venture to the basement, they can relive their teenage years with the pool table, the ping pong table and the weight bench! Interaction with GuestsI keep a busy schedule so sometimes I may see very little of my guests after we have met and I make sure they are settled in. I very much enjoy the conversations that come up when we do connect, but have found that my guests are generally as busy as I am! I do make it a point to be available via phone and text to address any questions or concerns.

The SpaceThis is a cozy first floor room with a private bath. There is a comfortable Sleep Comfort adjustable queen bed. Make your self at home in our spacious shared kitchen and enjoy the country feel of the front porch. We don't provide breakfast but there is usually coffee, tea, milk, juice, etc. and you are welcome to help yourself. Children are welcome and will enjoy our large yard and tree house. Pets are negotiable. No cable TV, but we do offer wifi. We have two large poodles. After hosting our first guests, we realize we need to add a bit about them. They were very surprised and excited to have guests! They can be kept in the kitchen (or out of it) but they will want to get to know you. If you dislike or fear dogs this wouldn't be a good place for you. They will also bark when you arrive...but it is friendly barking. Room for two, but with the possibility of renting other rooms in the house. Just ask! We are located on the Western edge of Northampton, a 10 minute drive to Smith college and the lively downtown area, but also convenient to the beautiful hilltowns of Western Massachusetts. A swimming hole is within walking distance and we are near the bike path.

The SpaceShare my 888 sq. ft. home with me. One medium sized bedroom overlooking woods has a new comfortable inner coil twin size bed. A twin size air bed or padded cot can be added for a second person. My other listing accomodates couples in a spacious room with an inner coil/foam double size bed, not a futon. It's in the same home. There is one shared bathroom in the home. There's a deck in back with table, chairs and umbrella. Walking/biking trails are very close by. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to the kitchen, dining room, and deck in back of the house, facing woods. There is reliable high speed wifi available. Bring own sheets and towels and I'll waive the cleaning fee. Interaction with GuestsI take my cues from my guests. I'm pleased to meet and converse with guests, be available as possible, and provide information about our unique, wonderful community. At the same time, I respect those who seek more privacy, quiet, or solitude. I'm flexible, and never intrusive. Though I no longer have a dog, I welcome well-behaved quiet dogs as house guests (accompanied by humans, of course). The NeighborhoodI adore my neighborhood. Just a few steps from my door to the expanding bikeway, a network gradually connecting the eastern coastal states. I'm around the corner from Main St., with cafes (vegan, gourmet, and child-friendly), restaurants, the landmark 1940's Miss Florence Diner, galleries, used book shop, and historic sites. Florence was, for a time, home to Sojourner Truth and was an Underground Railroad stop for slaves fleeing the South. It was also the site of a 19th century Utopian community and worker collective. Look Park is less than a mile away, with zoo, paddle boats, mini train, tennis, miniature golf, water park, and picnic/barbeque sites. Fitzgerald Lake trails are also just a mile away, extensive hiking trails along a lake and forest. I've seen moose, deer, bears, and a snapping turtle. Florence is just 2 1/2 miles from downtown Northampton, with its fabulous restaurants, shops, art and music venues. Just so you know, although the street is pretty and residential, trucks and cars travel it heavily at times during weekday work hours. Getting AroundThe Central Mass Greenway bike trail is a few steps from my door. It's bicycle heaven around here, with bike paths extending in all directions. The busses in Florence are infrequent in the evening. Pioneer Valley Transit Authority bus schedules are online. A car is suggested. Other Things to NoteGiven that my house is quite small, I'd appreciate guests being mindful of noise level. If bringing a pet, please don't allow dogs to scratch at doors or relieve themselves in the yard. Please don't leave dogs alone in the home, as many dogs are anxious in unfamiliar surroundings. Dog care may be available at extra cost, if schedules permit. I've given loving care to my own dogs while I had them. I'd greatly appreciate help conserving utilities (turning off lights when not needed, no long showers, please).

No access to the garage or basement (you probably wouldn't want to go there anyway) and no fires in the fireplace Interaction with GuestsI'll quickly run you through Lake St 101, and leave you to your own devices. I'll provide a phone # for emergencies or questions. The NeighborhoodVery quiet, friendly, non intrusive neighbors who would unquestionably be helpful if asked. Very family friendly. A short walk to a park with playground equipment and the bike trails for walking or biking. Getting AroundVery close to the bike path and public bus. Other Things to Note$250 security deposit

The SpaceShare my charming 888 sq ft. home with me. It's less than 100 yards from the bike trail and two blocks from the center of Florence. It's not fancy. It shows it's age gracefully. There's a cozy wood stove for chilly nights. It's a quiet, peaceful home with deck in back facing woods. The bedroom with comfortable inner spring/foam double bed (real mattress, not a futon) is spacious and an airbed or folding padded cot can be added for a 3rd person. See my other listing for a bedroom for a single guest in the same home. Guest AccessGuests may access the kitchen, dining room, and deck. I have reliable high speed wifi and cable tv. Bring own sheets and towels and I'll waive the cleaning fee. Interaction with GuestsI enjoy meeting new people and having conversation. However, I respect others' needs and take my cues from my guests, in terms of social versus private time. The NeighborhoodFlorence has a small town ambiance, great cafes, bookshop, and art venues. It's 2 1/2 miles from downtown Northampton, packed with restaurants, boutiques, and galleries. Florence is a quaint historic section of Northampton. It's a few paces from an extensive bike path and close to hiking trails. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop two blocks away, #42 Pioneer Valley Transit Authority takes you to downtown Northampton. The schedule is less frequent in the evenings. The bike trail, just a few paces from my door, is extensive and connects to neighboring towns. Other Things to NotePossibly adding confusion, there is a 55 Maple St down the road (North Maple becomes Maple when it crosses Main St.). My house is between High St and Sheffield Lane.

The SpaceIt's a comfortable quiet home on a peaceful beautiful street but still in walking distance (7 minutes) to many attractions: Florence village cafes, bike path, Fitzgerald lake and trails, Look Park. Short drive (about 5 minutes) or bike ride to center of Northampton and Smith College. Easy access to I-91. House is not child-proofed and not ideal for kids. Whole house is for rent fully furnished. I won't be in the house when you're here. Guest AccessEverything except my office. However, if you need a 3rd bedroom, I can make the office available for that. We can discuss this. Wifi. There is one bathroom in the whole house, near bedrooms on 2nd floor. Interaction with GuestsI'll be available by phone or text to help with any problems. The NeighborhoodI have a wonderful peaceful street with nice neighbors. Wonderful gardens and trees to enjoy. Near bike path, nature trails, and you can walk to cafes (including vegan and gluten-free diets), bookstore, etc. Distance is about 7 minute walk or a half mile. Getting AroundBiking, driving, walking are your best bets. Other Things to NoteIt's a simple and comfortable New England home and well-insulated, unlike other older homes. Heat is via steam radiators in each room. It keeps you warm but the pipes do make a little noise when it first comes on, but it's normal and fairly brief. Some of the older reviews left were for when I was here at the same time, with an elder cat, so some of it is doesn't apply since it is now a whole house rental with no pets. I'm available via cell phone at all times for any concerns. I want you to be completely happy staying here.

The SpaceWant your visit to be a blend of nature, culture and excellent food? Want a wonderful night's sleep or a chance to star gaze? Visit Starlight Llama Bed and Breakfast Massachusetts' first solar powered B&B! Completely off-the-grid, our working solar-powered llama farm is just 10 minutes from Smith College and downtown Northampton. Find directions on our website (URL HIDDEN) Each of our 3 rooms has a single queen-sized bed, its own private bath, and 2 rooms have their own entrance. Featuring furniture made by your host, John Clapp, these cozy rooms have their own adjustable heat for your comfort. Dee and John used to own an art gallery, and all the rooms have original art made by Western MA artists or those who were shown in the gallery. Some rooms include Dee's art work as well. Are you looking for a quiet place with a stunning view to finish that novel? Ask us about the Thoreau reproduction cabin, available for daytime use April - September for an extra fee. Look out your window and see the animals! In addition to the Llamas, our farm includes many rescued animals including a donkey, emus, and peacocks. You are welcome to feed them through the fences or better, sit in the gazebo with a cup of coffee and toss the peacocks a snack. They have free range of the grounds and grace the bed and breakfast with their beauty. In the evening, come out, look up and see the stars! Two mountains shield us from nearby towns, so without light pollution you can see the Milky Way, listen to the owls, and just maybe, hear coyotes in the distance. Our delectable vegetarian breakfasts are seasonally-based and feature eggs from our free-range chickens and ingredients from our organic gardens. We can easily accommodate vegan, gluten-free, or low-carb diets. We serve 'family style' and breakfast starts with yogurt, granola and fruit and we invite you to relax with the other guests over coffee or tea while we whip up apple-cider french toast, lemon crepes, baked eggs or some other hot treat. We just added a Keurig in the entryway so you can help yourself to coffee or tea anytime. Starlight Llama is located on 65 acres; we invite you to hike, snowshoe, cross-country ski, or walk our trails. Want a garden experience? Grab a tool and we will show you where to weed or what to plant. We won't make you clean the barn. Bring your bike. We ARE where the Northampton Bike Club rides! We are close to Look Park and the Rail Trail (our regional bike trail). We also recommend an easy ride and must-see to Westhampton Center, a quintessential New England town with a white church spire nestled among the Berkshire foothills. There are two outdoor swimming spots just minutes from our driveway, and if you bring your kayak or canoe, we can suggest several places to paddle. We are a 10 minute drive to downtown Northampton’s wonderful restaurants and attractions which include Smith College Art Museum, music at the Calvin, Iron Horse or the Academy of Music; many art galleries and wonderful stores. Our location makes a wonderful base camp for day trips to the Berkshires, Tanglewood, and MassMOCA. Easthampton is the newest hotspot if you want to enjoy the area's up-and-coming art scene and funky restaurants, and we are in the '5 College' area, and each of the colleges hosts their own art museums, theater, music, and much more. Ask us for ideas on where to explore, shop, sight-see, hike, bike, ski, paddle, eat, and when you are done, take a nap in our hammock. Starlight Llama Solar B&B is off-the-grid and we do as much as we can to reduce our carbon footprint. We have all the power we need because we practice conservation; we use 100% CFL or LED lights, a gas fridge from Sweden (ok, TINY gas fridge), and room fans. While we do not have enough power for air conditioning, we cool the house as our grandparents did, we open the windows in the evening to capture the cool air then close them and pull the shades in the morning. Plus... our country location is 5 degrees cooler than town. Even in the hottest part of the last two summers, it cooled off at night, and most nights guests reported that they needed to pull on a light blanket. For the comfort and safety of our guests we are 100% smoke-free in the building and the grounds and we charge a $250 fee if the room or the bed/bedding smells of cigarettes. The internet is available for you to check your email. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to use the gazebo, walk our 65 acres of trails and visit the cabin (unless it is rented out to a writer). Interaction with GuestsWe love Western Massachusetts and are happy to share things to do, places to see, and restaurants to visit. Dee makes great maps! The NeighborhoodOur area is surprisingly quiet, located in a region that is next to conservation areas, and around the 'corner' be sure to visit Mineral Hills Winery during wine tasting events. Getting AroundWe are located 5 miles from Florence, so while you can bike it, you may want a car. Taxis know us and can easily find us! Other Things to NoteJohn loves to share how solar energy works and can give you a brief tour of the panels and the battery bank.
