A 4x4 or 2x4 is necessary to travel up Sani Pass. Other Things to NoteWe are pet-friendly and there may be pets on the property during your stay. The Mount Grace Cottage is on the same property as the larger Mount Grace House. You may therefore be sharing the garden, driveway and parking area with other guests.

The NeighborhoodUnderberg is a lovely friendly village, with shops and restaurants available too. Sani Pass is a must for tourists, and this day trip can be organised so you are collected from the house. Getting AroundWe are about 2 and a half hours from Durban airport, and you would need to drive to Underberg, so a rental car would be good for your holiday. There is parking available in the yard. Other Things to NoteWe have made Bergview a home away from home, to make guests feel at home and enjoy their time away.

There is a double bed and hand basin in this (URL HIDDEN) are stairs from the bedroom down into the simple kitchenette. The kitchen has a bar fridge, microwave sized oven, pots, pans, plates, utensils and a kettle. You need to walk out the kitchen door onto the open veranda to access the bathroom which shares a wall with the kitchen.Sit on the wooden balcony and enjoy the sunset. There is a braai and round cement slab for bonfires. Guest AccessAdditionally there is an under shelter kitchenette on the ground floor with electric plug points available. Gas stove and oven. Washing up sink. You are welcome to explore our beautiful farm land. Hike up the hill, walk around the dams, go swimming in the river or dams. There is a plum tree next to the out door kitchenette - if the plums are ripe you are welcome to pick and enjoy them. Horse riding is available near by. Massages are also available (please book in advance). The cottage is locate within its own private garden, but shares a secure yard fence with the main farmhouse. 2 very friendly dogs live at the main farmhouse. They are likely to come over to say hello. Access to the cottage is through a private forest road (signposted 'Kromdrift Cottage'), not via the main farm house gate. Parking is outside the yard and entrance is through a pedestrian gate. If you need assistance unpacking please let us know in advance and Virginia will be happy to help you.

The SpaceThe house is yours alone and is not shared with other groups. We are high in the foothills in a unique position in the most beautiful part of the Drakensberg mountains. We offer the house for 10 guests in our basic pricing, and we have facilities for up to 14 people if required. Guest AccessOndini is right off the R600 tarred road, so no off-road is required. We are close to shops and restaurants, and very close to the majestic walks through the berg. You have access to a fully fitted kitchen, and outside braai facilities. The conference rooms are only available for people booking the conference package. The staff and owners houses are not included into this package. Interaction with GuestsWe are at the house on many occassions during our guests visits, and when not there we are on call as needed and we have staff on site to assist throughout your visit. The NeighborhoodThis is secret place of heaven which you can share for a time. This valley is very special and close to is are the world-renowned Drakensberg Boys Choir School, with their regular public concerts. Experience the World Heritage Site with walks up the mountains, visits to Rock Art sites and to the unique geology of the one-sided Drakensberg mountains. Getting AroundThere is no public transport available here, since we are in the mountains with no bus or taxi service. Getting by car from Johannesburg or Durban is easy and the roads are mostly good. Other Things to NoteIf you are visiting South Africa this is a unique experience that you will find nowhere else. If you are from South Africa and have never been to the Berg, then this is your opportunity. Get your family together, or get some friends, and some stay with us.     Overview Farm is a working dairy farm, set on 505 ha. of land, 14km (20 minutes) from Underberg. Middle House is fully equipped for self catering with both gas and coal stoves for convenience and warmth. All rooms are en-suite and 1 bedroom has equipped with 2 3/4 beds and a fire place. The large lounge area seats 12 people and has a fireplace for cosy winter evenings. All beds are equipped with deep duvets for winter warmth. The swimming pool has a large shallow step for little ones to play on with the area fenced off for safety. There is a variety of both easy and demanding outdoor walks, leading to outstanding views of the Drakensberg range from various sites. During both winter and summer an extensive variety of small and larger wildlife visit the farm (porcupine, aardvark, jackal and reedbuck). Bird lovers have the opportunity to view Cape Vultures and Fish Eagles to Cormorants and Crowned Cranes. In summer the Amur falcons visit the area and are viewed in the early morning and late afternoon. The farm has 2 well stocked (annually) trout dams. Both Rainbow and Brown trout are available for fishing. We have a catch and release policy for sustainability. Golf is available at Underberg golf club and several other courses in the area. Horse riding is 2km away. Groceries are available from Underberg. Linen, towels, a litre of farm milk and firewood are supplied in all accommodation upon arrival. The Drakensberg is a mountain range which extends almost the length of South Africa. The range lies between South Africa and Lesotho. During winter snow can be seen on the mountains.       Moya Cottage is a cosy cottage situated in the peaceful Underberg village, in the heart of the Southern Drakensberg. The cottage is fully equipped for self-catering and can comfortably sleep a family of four or reps and contract workers. The cottage has two bedrooms, with one double bed and two singe beds. The rooms share one bathroom with a shower. The cosy kitchen is well equipped for self-catering and has a breakfast bar looking into the living room. The lounge has a Jetmaster fireplace and a TV with DStv. The cottage opens out onto a covered veranda with braai facilities. Ideally located, the cottage is close to all amenities and the perfect place to start exploring the Underberg, Himeville and the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site. Dragon's Mist is a luxurious self-catering holiday home in a large well managed safe secure eco estate with free roaming game. The estate is home to an abundance of indigenous game species including Blesbuck, Reedbuck, Eland, Black Wildebeest, Mountain Reedbuck, Red Hartebeest, Buck and Duiker. It has also been proclaimed an Oribi sanctuary by the Endangered Wildlife Trust and is a safe haven for these rare antelope. Dragon's Mist offers 3 bedrooms, a patio and an open-plan living and dining area with a well equipped kitchen. The 3 ensuite bathrooms are fitted with a shower bath of both and include toiletries. 'The Mountain of Dragons” is the highest peak in Southern Africa and is where the mighty Tugela River rises on the Mont-aux-Sources Plateau, cascading & forming the “Tugela Falls”. Okhahlamba is the Zulu word for “Barrier of Spears”, once home to ancient KhoiSan hunter-gatherers. The Drakensberg (derived from the Afrikaans name Drakensberg meaning "Dragon Mountains") is the name given to the eastern portion of the Great Escarpment, which encloses the central Southern African plateau. The Great Escarpment reaches its greatest altitude in this region (2000 – 3000 m).         Overview is a working dairy farm and is an ideal place for families and friends to enjoy farm life whilst spending quality time together! Our self-catering guest cottages are set in tranquil surroundings some with breath taking views of the Drakensberg, the farm and in some instances one of the dams. Cuddle Inn fulfils its name! Although set within the larger farm area it is quiet and secluded. There are views for the hills and the grazing cattle on the farm. Main bedroom has a brass double bed and the 2nd bedroom is ensuite with twin beds. The 3rd bedroom is suitable for children with 2 single beds. All beds are equipped with deep duvets for winter warmth. A new fully equipped kitchen has recently been installed. A fire place in the lounge provides warm cosy evenings in winter. A garden gazebo houses the braai and garden furniture. The farm has 2 well stocked (annually) trout dams. Both Rainbow and Brown trout are available for fishing.             Overview Farm is a working dairy farm set in the picturesque Bushman's Nek Valley. Jersey cows graze in this stunning landscape at the foot of the dramatic Southern Drakensberg. The farm has two well-stocked trout dams, which are regularly visited by otters and Reedbuck. Cottage is 200m from one of the dams. There are numerous scenic walks – if fishing is not 'your thing”. Views of the majestic Drakensberg and a wide variety of wild bird and animal life supported by the farm, can be appreciated on the walks. Cottage is the original "cottage" used by the current owners. Black wood furniture in the main lounge and dining areas along with a log fire make this a cosy area for entertaining even in winter. A 2nd front lounge also with a fire place gives views towards Underberg and of Garden castle. Long easy walks are available on the farm for those who need to exercise or wish to enjoy the views and mountains. We do experience occasional snow in winter which is awe-inspiring. The Drakensberg mountains usually has snow on it from July to September. The farm has 2 well stocked (annually) trout dams. Both Rainbow and Brown trout are available for fishing. Our property is only 10 minutes away from the famous Drakensberg Boys Choir. The Drakensberg borders Lesotho and runs down to the Eastern and Southern Cape. The peaks reach over 3000m in height. "The Mountain of Dragons” is the highest peak in Southern Africa and is where the mighty Tugela River rises on the Mont-aux-Sources Plateau, cascading & forming the “Tugela Falls”. Okhahlamba is the Zulu word for “Barrier of Spears”, once home to ancient KhoiSan hunter-gatherers. HIKING AND WALKS IN THE CHAMPAGNE VALLEY AND FURTHER. LOCAL FROM DRAKENSBERG HOUSE The Monk's Cowl is the starting point to the spectacular peaks. If you're looking for a good, easy walk, try the Hlathikulu forest trail as it winds through indigenous forests and the spectrum of Drakensberg wild flowers. Rest in the mist at the base of the magnificent Nandi's Falls and explore the pools along the Mpofane river. Another great day hike takes you up past the sandstone rock faces of the valley to the grasslands at the base of Cathkin peak where Rhebuck, Eland and bird life flourish. For fit hikers, two mountain peaks can be reached on day hikes. Rock scrambling at the end of a four hour ascent will put you on the top of Sterkhorn (2970 m) -- a stone's throw from mighty Catkhin peak and perched over the Mwhlazini river valley. The views are fantastic and you'll be able to see the Devil's Tooth at the Amphitheatre in the north and Giant's Castle in the south. Toughing it is the 10 hour round trip that will take you up to the plateau of Champagne Castle (3337 m), one of the highest mountains in the Drakensberg. Here you can rest at the top of a 1000 m drop and watch rare bearded vultures circle before heading back down Gray's Pass. A DRIVE AWAY • The Cathedral Peak area is defined by a freestanding set of peaks extending from the escarpment, and is a 45 minute drive from Inkosana Lodge. Try the day walk to Rainbow Gorge where the spray from waterfalls form beautiful rainbows. Hard-core hikers can try the day hike to the top of Cathedral Peak (3007 m), one of the best day walks in the Drakensberg. • The Injasuthi area holds the highest peak in the Drakensberg and is especially notable as having one of the best sites of Bush men rock art in the area. This art can be explored with a guided walk to Battle Cave, which displays a battle scene between two Bushmen tribes. Injasuthi is only 45 minutes by car. • Royal Natal National Park is 90 minutes north and lies at the northern end of the Drakensberg range, at the base of the Amphitheatre. Day hike up the beautiful Tugela river gorge, or drive an additional hour and walk up to and along the top of the escarpment to the Tugela falls, second highest waterfall in Africa! • Giant's Castle is another great site for Bushman rock art, with the caves only a 1.5 km walk from the entrance gate. Here you'll also find a museum which recreates Bush men life. Serious hikers can reach the top of the Drakensberg escarpment via Langalibalele Pass. Unmistakeable Cathkin Peak is the most recognizable landmark in the Drakensberg area, named by an early Scottish settler after a town near his native Glasgow. There is a profusion of San paintings in the Cathkin Peak area with the Ndedema Gorge in the north the richest with 17 shelters and 4,000 paintings. Bushmen were thought to have all been killed by farmers and bounty hunters in the last century, but a cave was discovered in 1926 containing a bow and quiver with a freshly laid grass bed. Perhaps these diminutive people still remain in the mountain. Scenic walks include Intunja (the eye of the needle), a small mountain with a hole in it. Champagne Castle was so named because the bottle of bubbly carried up by the first people to ascend was broken - inadvertently christening the mountain Cathedral Peak is renowned for its beauty and all within the UNESCO world heritage site. From its cosy setting in a quiet valley, visitors look out onto a jagged ridge of mountains known as the Cathedral Spur; the escarpment looms above the hotel to the south and west.
