The SpaceThe cottage's porch leads to a large, open "great room" that feels very much like a ski lodge or cabin, with wide-plank wood floors and exposed beams. The great room has a dining table with 4 chairs, a bar with 3 stools, a cool mid-century orange sofa and 2 matching chairs and an entertainment unit with a TV and DVD player. There is also a ceiling fan for air circulation and a skylight that can be opened to allow air in and out (plus, it has an automatic shade, should you want to block the sun). We also have an air conditioner available for this room, should you need it. Down a set of stairs is the second entry way, off of which is a recently renovated bathroom (see pic) with a heated tile floor, a roomy shower and a claw-foot tub. Also at the bottom of the stairs is a recently renovated open kitchen with all new appliances, a granite counter top and a "bar" seating area with two stools. A gas heating unit sits just outside the kitchen and can be used to heat the whole place, if necessary. Down the hall are two bedrooms: The first has a queen bed with dresser and closet; the second is a more flexible room, with a daybed that can be used as a sofa but also can be made up as a single bed, and there is a trundle bed underneath it - so, you can have two single beds or put them together and make a king bed. We also have a queen-size air mattress in this room (or it could be used in the living room), along with a linen cabinet with all of your bedding and towels. We also have a rocking floor crib for an infant. IMPORTANT: The second bedroom has no door! Both bedrooms have fairly new carpeting, and we have a window air conditioner available for either bedroom, though you are unlikely to need it. In addition, we have a washer and dryer for your use. We have one dedicated parking spot for the cottage, but the driveway is large and can accommodate additional cars as needed - please let us know if you would need more than one spot. Guest AccessThe yard is large - there is a flat area with a fire pit (please just be very careful if you use it) and then it slopes down from the cottage toward October Mountain. Dogs are fine to run loose in the yard, however, we ask two things: 1) Please try to keep the dogs in the yard near the cottage, not near our house, as we have two dogs (leashed only, never running free) that will go a bit crazy if they see other dogs coming near the house; and 2) you must clean up after your dogs immediately. Interaction with GuestsWe love meeting our guests, but our schedule is very unpredictable, so we may not be there when you check in or even at all during your stay. But, we're always available by phone or text. The NeighborhoodWe're in a quiet area, with no close neighbors. But, it's a few-minute drive into downtown Lenox. Getting AroundYou will have to drive, for the most part, but if you're a hardy soul, you could make the 25-min or so walk into downtown Lenox. There are buses there, and there's also a slightly closer (maybe 15-20 min walk) bus stop at Lenox Commons, a small shopping area, during the Summer and Fall.

From atop its 22 acre hillside perch, the Apple Tree Inn captures the best of the Berkshires. Mountain views framed in the lush green of the summer, the beautiful leaves of fall, the sparkling snow of winter and the delicate buds of spring. A sparkling pool back dropped by the mountains with the musical strains of Tanglewood wafting up the hill. The Victorian Main House with crackling fireplaces in the public areas and some rooms. The deck for dining, again, back dropped by the mountains. Everything you could want in a Berkshires inn.

This summer cottage built in the 1950's has recently been completely renovated from stem to stern to bring it up to date with the most current design standards. It is a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom space with a beautiful backyard for grilling. There is also an amazing dining room surrounded by windows and the lush forest of Lenox, providing amazing greenery in the spring and summer and stunning fall colors as the leaves change. The home is centrally located close-to-town, near Ventfort Hall, which actually borders our backyard! You can walk to Shakespeare and Company for a day of festivals and shows, or head to Tanglewood (right down the street), for a picnic on the great lawns accompanied by Symphony Number 9. Or, you can walk to Alta, one of the best restaurants in the Berkshires, for amazing bottles of wine and perfectly formed dishes. The home is also 10 minutes away from Butternut, Catamount or Bosquet, and a half hour from Jiminy Peak! We are close if you need us! In 1844, Samuel Gray Ward of Boston, the American representative for Barings Bank of London, assembled tracts of land to create the first estate in Lenox. Called Highwood, the Italianate dwelling was designed in 1845 by Richard Upjohn. In 1876, Ward hired Charles F. McKim to design in the Shingle Style another property, Oakwood. The period from 1880 until 1920 would be dubbed the Berkshire Cottage era, when the small New England town was transformed into a Gilded Age resort similar to Newport, Rhode Island, and Bar Harbor, Maine. The wealthy and their entourage opened immense houses for recreation and entertaining during the Berkshire Season, which lasted from late summer until early fall. One event was the annual Tub Parade, when Main Street was lined with ornately decorated carriages. Property values jumped as millionaires competed for land on which to build showplaces. In 1903, an acre in Lenox cost $20,000, when an acre in nearby towns cost a few dollars. After the great depression many of the mega estates evolved into exclusive resorts like in the case of the famed Shadowbrook property which is now the Kripalu yoga center; another, The Mount, is the former home of Shakespeare & Company. Some have been converted into vacation condominiums. Tanglewood, the former estate of the Tappan family which lies partially in Stockbridge, would in 1937 become summer home to the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Lenox remains a popular tourist destination. It was a filming location for Before and After (1996) and The Cider House Rules (1999), which was shot at Ventfort Hall (again in our backyard just through the woods, which were also in the movie)! Everything in Lenox is walking distance to the home 5-10 mins depending on which side of town. You will need a car to get to other places such as Great Barrington or Stockbridge. Close to The Norman Rockwell Museum, Chesterwood, Jacobs Pillow, Bish Bash Falls, Williamstown. Guest Access You can walk to Shakespeare and Company for a day of festivals and shows, or head to Tanglewood (right down the street), for a picnic on the great lawns accompanied by Symphony Number 9. Or, you can walk to Alta, one of the best restaurants in the Berkshires, for amazing bottles of wine and perfectly formed dishes. The home is also 10 minutes away from Butternut, Catamount or Bosquet, and a half hour from Jiminy Peak! Interaction with Guests We are close if you need us! The SpaceThis is a 2nd bedroom of 3 that is listed in Lenox, MA in a Lovely Ranch House. There is a full size bed which was purchased in July 2014. The house is situated across from Cranwell Golf Resort and Spa with 3 great restaurants, lovely trails to walk/run in a safe community less than 2 miles from Tanglewood, 1.5 miles to Shakespeare, and 1 mile to Lenox Village. Great restaurants, shows, museums are abounding. You will need a car to get around and taxi's can be expensive in the Berkshires Tanglewood, Kripalu, Shakespear Theater are less than 2 miles away. Guest AccessYou will have access to use of the refrigerator, kitchen, microwave, grill and deck with deck chairs, table and umbrella. You have access to the living space on the main floor level, not the basement nor garage. Use of stove requires prior approval. There are two designated parking spots on driveway behind the first garage stall and further up the driveway on the stone area. Interaction with GuestsIt's up to you. I do like to be home for your arrival so do contact me at least an hour before you think you will be at the house or earlier if that works for you. I am in and out to attend meetings and take care of personal needs/my business etc. I like to get to know folks who visit and sometimes have breakfast with them or a nice evening snack but I am fine with guests who just want a place to get a good nights sleep too and head off to their busy agendas. I can help you with places to eat, places to see, events, happenings, and I have a hiking group too that has events about 1 or 2 times a week so you are always welcome to join in these as well. Guests are the best part of my day. Everyone is unique and special. It is a joy to meet new people and learn about their lives and their adventures and of course their interests in the Berkshires. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is perfect. It is across the street from Cranwell which is a 5 star resort, down the street from Canyon Ranch, Shakespeare, The Mount, Tanglewood and Kripalu and just a few blocks from October Mountain a vast and fantastic place to hike. Just over the hill is Jacobs Pillow with worldclass dance performances and of course heading south is Norman Rockwell and just a block away the Berkshire Botanical Garden which is beautiful. Heading north some of the best museums in the State, Berkshire Museum, Clark Museum, MoCa in North Adams and Williams College also outstanding. Events are happening every weekend in the Berkshires during the spring, summer and fall months and for those who think the fall is quiet compared to the summer, you are right. The colors dazzle as they fall foliage seeps in with a cool and gentle breeze to transform us into the Winter Months. Those who live in the Berkshires feel lucky to have the joy of the seasons and the amazing cultural experiences coupled with 80 miles of the AT and outstanding parks and recreation areas only minutes from our homes. The Berkshires is an outstanding neighborhood for all these reasons. Dining has proven difficult only because of the many delicious choices set upon the hungry. From Lee to Williamstown and back, there are so many great eating spots that it would be impossible to mention all of them. Yet there are a few that stand out. Mazzeo's, Jae's Bistro, Alta's, Baba Louis, Patricks Pub, Great Barrington Brewery, the Haven, and of course one can not leave out Chocolate Springs ! Getting AroundGetting around the Berkshires is not easy. Public Transportation is poor here. While there are buses taking folks from NY City and Boston to Red Lion Inn/Stockbridge and Cranwell and to the Center of Pittsfield, it is difficult to get around beyond these points. Be prepared to spend money on taxi's if you don't have a car, or bring a bicycle with you or prepare to walk 1 to 2 miles to get places on sometimes busy and not so busy roads. Hosts will provide some transportation when they can, but this is above and beyond service and should be considered as such. It should not be expected by guests as Hosts are not always available to provide this service and it is not included in the pricing which makes it awkward for both the guest and the host. Other Things to NoteThe birds that are around my house truly sing happy songs as they lighten the mornings with their good cheer and splendor. Like Tanglewood, they breath life into the day and their energy so early in the morning settles us for the day ahead and captures our imagination as music, art, history, language, food, and nature do throughout the Berkshires. "Yes there are two birds outside my doorstep singing this is my message to you". Don't worry, be happy" Bob Marley

The SpaceSunny beautifully decorated room with a queen sized latex bed. Within walking distance of the center of Lenox and easy driving distance to Kripalu, Tanglewood, and Canyon Ranch. The bed is a latex queen size bed. WiFi is high speed. The Airbnb includes a charge station for all your devices. We love our garden and the town of Lenox and its surroundings are beautiful. Our neighborhood is quiet yet close to the town center. Stockbridge, Pittsfield, and Great Barrington are all within a 20 minute drive. Kripalu is just a short drive (2 1/4 mile), a long walk or a bike ride from our house. Shakespeare and Company is 1 1/2 miles away. Very definitely walkable. Guests have access to the living room, back deck, garden and kitchen. They may cook if they want. Just clean up afterwards and remove all items from the refrigerator before checking out. Breakfast is not provided because many times we are away and to be honest, we would spare you from the experience of Jackie's culinary skills or lack thereof. :-) (this is reflected in the lower price that we are able to offer) We tend to be very busy so we generally do not interact much with guests. Probably the most interaction in general occurs in the kitchen or outside on the deck. Although we have 7 bedrooms, we only offer two for long term rentals and one for airbnb guests. We have three bathrooms so the the two long term rentals share one and the airbnb guest has a private bathroom. Generally people fly into Bradley Airport in Hartford CT because it tends to be less expensive than Albany Airport. Peter Pan bus lines drops you off in town. Our suggestion would be to rent a car or you can rent a bike at the Arcadian Shop 91 Pittsfield Rd, Lenox, MA 01240, United States. Our dog is adorable! :-) Guest AccessGuests have access to the kitchen, living room, and garden. Interaction with GuestsI am available either in person or via text. The SpaceNestled at the head of a valley surrounded by Lenox Mountain to the West and North, and by Kennedy Park and the Town of Lenox to the East, you get a peaceful view over Under Mountain Horse Farm down a valley that stretches out to Tanglewood (summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra) to the South. Indoors is nothing fancy. The floors are original wood painted grey, and very clean. Furnishings are yard sale Americana including a bentwood rocker, and southwest patterned futon. The futon can accommodate two additional guests. The stove and fridge are vintage electric, and serviceable. The bed is king size with very comfy memory foam. Guest AccessGuests have full access to the apartment including the kitchen and a walk-in closet. There is a washer and dryer in the basement. The farm has horses available for lessons and trail riding. There are chickens, goats, and other critters you might expect on a horse farm. Just outside the door are hiking trails in all directions. Just down the road to the East is Tanglewood and Kripalu, and to the West is the historic town of Lenox. Sorry, no cable TV, but who needs it with everything else to do here? Interaction with GuestsI make my apartment available to guests at times when I am out of town. So I'm not physically on the property. But I'm only a phone call away. Everything here is on the honor system, and very secure. The finest kind of people live in three other farmhouse apartments. We all get along, respect each others privacy, and need for quiet. The NeighborhoodWhat I love most about the neighborhood is the nearness of horses, nature, and wonderful attractions such as Tanglewood, Shakespear and Company, Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, Kennedy Park, The Mount (Edith Wharton's Estate), the beautiful old Lenox Library, Ventfort Hall (one of the famed Berkshire "cottages"), Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum, Lenox Mountain, Woods Pond, and the historic Church on the Hill. And then, there are all the other Berkshire attractions to which this location is central including skiing at centers north and south, plus cross country skiing in nearby Kennedy Park. Or you can hang out on the back lawn, and watch the horses tease each other, munch hay, roll, and sleep on their feet. Or just curl up with a book, listen to music, or connect to WiFi. Getting AroundIt's about a 45 minute leisurely walk into the Town of Lenox, where you can catch the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority Bus, to most other Berkshire areas. Other Things to NoteBe prepared for two flights of stairs, but the commanding view is your reward.

We love walking up to Bartlett's Apple Orchard to get cider donuts for breakfast and various other baked goodies during the day! In the winter we love walking on the ice, sledding and playing in the snow. We have a closet full of board games which is great for when there is rain or snow. We always enjoy spending time as a family and it's a great getaway for us when Grandma decides to babysit the kids for a night! Getting AroundThe house is a very short drive to most Berkshire attractions. The house is within 10 miles of Pittsfield, West Stockbridge, Lenox and Tanglewood. Other Things to NoteIf you have any special needs prior to arrival, we will do our best to accommodate your requests. Our goal is to make sure that your vacation is relaxing and we will do our best to ease the stress of vacation.

The SpaceThe 4400 sqft home is comprised of a spacious log cabin built in 1920, and a later addition with kitchen, dining, laundry and more bedrooms. The two ends of the house are connected by a sun-drenched breezeway that lends privacy to the different sleeping areas. The original building features a grand living room furnished with stylish antiques and big, comfortable sofas for lounging. The ground floor also includes a study and a king bedroom with a full bath. The second floor has two spacious bedrooms (one king and three twins respectively) which share a full bath with a claw foot tub and a separate shower. At the other end of the house, you will find an inviting country kitchen, that opens up to a large dining area. The farm table seats 10 comfortably, and there is an adjoining dining area for children. Above the kitchen are two queen bedrooms, a hall bathroom with shower, and a TV den for the kids (or the kid in you). While we have added a few modern amenities, the house maintains its quirky cottage charm. It's roomy layout affords plenty of private spots to curl up with a book, yet there is ample space for large gatherings. Guest AccessIn the winter, we provide sleds to enjoy on the two hills on our property. In warmer months, guests will have exclusive access to a newly refurbished har-tru tennis court on the property. Guests will also be able to bring our canoe to Stockbridge Bowl, if they have a roof rack. Interaction with GuestsI am available by phone or email at any time. We also have a local property manager to answer questions about the house or the area, and address any maintenance issues during your stay. The NeighborhoodWe couldn't resist this place! The house itself has tons of character. The surrounding woods are great for admiring or exploring. And the proximity to both Tanglewood and town could not be beat. As the previous owner explained to us, this is a very special place in the universe. So we feel lucky to have discovered it, and look forward to sharing it with you! Other Things to NoteTake a peek at our mountain retreat! With a 1.5 mile walk to town and the same distance to the main gate at Tanglewood, the location is ideal. Chic furnishings, eclectic artwork and modern amenities make this house the perfect spot to unwind in the Berkshires. On our 5 acres of protected woods, you will find a trailhead allowing you to hike straight into Kennedy Park. Your kids will love discovering the little brook that winds through the property and soaring through the air on the rope swing. Beginning Spring 2015, you'll be able to play on a fully refurbished har-tru tennis court! Also on the property there is a 4 car garage and attached studio. The garage and studio are not part of this rental and the studio is currently in a long-term rental with two occupants. Renting the main house, you have full access to all the grounds and sole use of the tennis court. We have just finished carefully updating our 4,400 square foot home, while still maintaining its original log cabin charm. Inside the house you will find five well appointed bedrooms, three beautifully renovated bathrooms and a new powder room on the ground floor. The heart and soul of the house is an expansive living room with a brick fireplace, a TV area, and a grand piano. Step out of the living room, onto a furnished balcony to take in the pristine view of the valley below. Prepare feasts in the fully equipped kitchen, which has just been updated with all new appliances. In the warmer months, you'll be able to dine al fresco on the mahogany deck just off the kitchen. Guest AccessYou can walk to Shakespeare and Company for a day of festivals and shows, or head to Tanglewood (right down the street), for a picnic on the great lawns accompanied by Symphony Number 9. Or, you can walk to Alta, one of the best restaurants in the Berkshires, for amazing bottles of wine and perfectly formed dishes. The home is also 10 minutes away from Butternut, Catamount or Bosquet, and a half hour from Jiminy Peak! Interaction with GuestsWe are close if you need us! The NeighborhoodIn 1844, Samuel Gray Ward of Boston, the American representative for Barings Bank of London, assembled tracts of land to create the first estate in Lenox. Getting AroundYou will need a car to get to other places such as Great Barrington or Stockbridge. Other Things to NotePlease look out for a welcome email with house information and top Lenox recommendations. We look forward to hosting!
