We provide an equipped kitchen, satellite tv, free wifi, bikes, kayaks, and great hiking and fishing within walking distance. There is a cute winery .5 miles from our home called ONE MAPLE Vineyard and the TRINITY FLY SHOP is a little past this fun place. There are a couple of good places to eat in the town of Lewiston or you can drive about 20 minutes to Weaverville for more of a variety. Shopping in Redding before you come is wise. There is a great take or bake pizza place (Two Brothers) close by, a cafe called Mtn Grill and during the summer Lewiston Hotel has entertainment and food. Weaverville has many options for dinning and a movie theatre plus other fun activities. Guest AccessBack deck and front screen porch for relaxing. BBQ (gas) on back deck. You can use our bikes and kayaks (have two hard shell and one double inflatable) as long as your experienced in using them. Great 1.25 mile walking trail behind the house. We can offer suggestions for adventures, hikes and river/lake kayaking. The NeighborhoodWe have privacy with most neighbors as they do not live close by. We really love that we have the great outdoors and wild critters as neighbors. Most people come to our area for peace, quiet and for the enjoyment of the great outdoors. We have the pristine Trinity River for fishing and kayaking plus the majestic Trinity Alps for exploring right in our back yard. Getting AroundThere is a Trinity County transit line that stops nearby other wise you would need your own transportation. Other Things to NoteWe can offer a B&B experience for two but it does cost $15 more a day and we would need to make sure we are home. We love to share our home and life but respect our guests privacy too.

The SpaceA Magical place with a large Koi pond in the front yard and a river on the other side of the house. This is NOT a "child friendly" place as many water features exist as well as the river! Fishing, kayaking and rafting are at your door step! The place sits on 16 acres of pines and fir trees etc. Easy access to the riverfront that is open for fishing right here. This Chalet has a loft with a magnificent view of river and a double bed. The house has very tall ceilings, lots of windows which pose a problem with heating in the winter. I encourage sweaters! Animals with approval only and a deposit. There is an attached side room that is NOT part of rental. It has separate entrance and may be used occasionally. The town of Lewiston is 3 miles away and Weaverville 13 miles. Redding is 36 miles east on 299. 75%of CLEANING DEPOSIT RETURNED IF LEFT LIKE YOU FOUND IT. ***Allow 5 days advance notice for reservation. Guest AccessFree WiFi here. Kayaks for rent. Fishing poles for your use. Interaction with GuestsWe have a cabin on property and maintain place. We may be here and would love to meet you. The NeighborhoodBeautiful valley setting and fabulous river! Other Things to NoteHome is stocked with necessary items to cook...pantry is available for you. Use what you need. Outdoor Cabana with fabulous river view also available for your use.

The SpaceSow's Ear is priced for 6 guests. We will consider 2 more guests, but there is an extra fee for them. Lodging tax and pet fees (if you bring dogs) aren't accommodated in AIR's set-up, so you can pay those fees when you're here. Rates are subject to change for holidays and weekly discounts do not apply July through August 15th. Sow's Ear is a wonderful, pet-friendly, easy-access cabin at the end of the road, less than a minute's walk to the Trinity, with full use of the 600+ feet of shady shoreline, the hot tub overlooking the river and the hammered copper fire pit overlooking the river. It is easy access (just 3 miles from 299) and incredibly quiet. All you hear is the river, along with crickets, frogs and birds. There is great hiking right outside your door. This cabin has 3 full bedrooms and two baths. The master bedroom has a handcrafted queen log bed, private bath with shower and sliders out to the honeysuckle-draped porch. The second bedroom has a handmade double log bed. The third bedroom is completely paneled in soft, tongue and groove cedar; it has a queen mahogany sleigh bed, plus substantial, stacked bunk beds strong enough for adults. The second bath has a tub with shower. There is a very pretty oak dining table with 1 leaf to accommodate 6-8 guests; a really good wood stove (wood provided); a Monitor heater; central A\C and heat, too. It has a delightful, covered front porch with wicker furniture and plants. Year-round, guests sit out there enjoying themselves. There is a bit of a river view, plus you hear it in the two front bedrooms, living room and porch. Lots of room for fishing gear, including boats and trailers. Large gas BBQ and a Weber BBQ. Small outdoor dining set. Plus, just down the drive a short distance, full use of our patio over the river with dining set and fire pit. A hammock next to the river and comfy chairs and benches are sprinkled around on the river patio, which we encourage guests to treat as theirs. Fish, swim and play with your dogs. Deer wander throughout Bucktail, our little community. It's not unusual to look out and see them grazing in the yard. Superb hiking on trails as well as a hard dirt road with almost zero traffic. We do welcome well-behaved dogs and have a pet fee of $15 per dog, per stay. The pet fee can be paid when you're here along with lodging tax. Let your dogs roam free. Bring your mountain bikes so you can keep up. All bedding, linens, towels, soaps, laundry needs included. 1 roll of paper towels is provided so if you use a lot, bring a lot. There is a washer and dryer in Sow's Ear, full kitchen with everything you could need. If not, we will loan it to you! The Smart TV has Netflix and Amazon Prime. Both offer an astounding array of movies and TV shows and make binge-watching a series very easy. There is an ipod/MP3 docking station. The master bedroom also has a Bose CD radio, so bring your music! We offer kayak, raft, cataraft and stand up paddleboard (SUP) rentals, lessons and guided trips. Our guided kayak trips include a thorough lesson before departure. We are very good at teaching and supply everything you need. The river has gentle meanders with some mild but still fun rapids; or you can paddle on Lewiston Lake, which is also stunning (wonderful birding: great blue herons, bald eagles, golden eagles, osprey & more; we often see great blue herons, osprey, night herons and occasionally, bald eagles on our river trips). We prefer Lewiston Lake to Trinity Lake because it has a 10 MPH speed limit, resulting in a peaceful place to SUP, kayak with kids and dogs, and fish. All raft trips on the river are guided by us, but you can rent a raft for lake use, too. We rent wonderful inflatable SUPs that you can carry in their backpack in a very small vehicle, then pump up at the lake. Our hard boards offer even more options for you! Pristine, stream-fed ponds just a few miles away provide warmer water than the river for swimming, and are a nice option for families with small kids. All of our lessons are tailored to the individual and we are very good at this, never pushing you beyond your comfort zone, yet showing you how to expand it with our help. Michael Caranci of The Fly Shop in Redding says of our cabins: 'For sheer seclusion, access, and cozy, comfortable accommodations, the cabins at the Trinity River Adventure Inn are certainly among the best.' Guest AccessEasy access to the river and just across the river from Bucktail put-in. Plenty of room for boats and trailers. Weaverville is about 20 minutes away and Lewiston is just a few miles from the cabin. Interaction with GuestsGuests see us if they need us. Some join us for a sit by the river and the fire pit, but they have as much privacy as they like. It's just two of us here, so if guests would like to be left alone on the patio, that's just fine with us. On the flip side, many have become friends and some have become dear friends, while others kept to themselves so much, it was as though they weren't even here. However guests want to play this, we are good with it. The NeighborhoodBucktail is a delightful little community and kids and dogs can roam around safely. Deer wander through the yard daily. Hike right outside your door! Choose one of the easy hikes through Bucktail and over to the other side of the river, or for a more strenuous hike, guests can go up into the mountains on deer trails next to Sow's Ear, or follow very lightly traveled Browns Mountain Road, which is hard-packed dirt, up into the mountains for miles. Getting AroundTrinity Transit goes by at the intersection of Lewiston Road and Browns Mountain Road, but it's best to have wheels here. Other Things to NoteWeaverville has interesting galleries, museums and shops, as well as an excellent supermarket. There is a CVS pharmacy and many restaurants. Much more on all of this in our welcome book, which we send to you after booking.

This is a home away from home for us, so we try to keep all the typical cooking and dining essentials handy. The master bedroom includes a new queen size bed as well as a twin size day bed. The second bedroom has two extra long twin beds which is plenty of room for two adults. If you find yourself needing additional sleeping accommodations, we have a king size aero bed available as well. Linens and bath towels are provided as well as starter paper products. **NEW!! HD FLAT SCREEN! The living room is conveniently adjacent to the kitchen and dining area with a 50' HD flat screen television with Direct TV. Free wireless internet. This house also has heating, air-conditioning, washer/dryer, and free long distance from the house phone. Smoke-free please and 'good' dogs welcome. We have special rates for 3 or more nights and stays close to the current date. Contact us, Heidi & Steph, by either clicking on the right for our phone number or sending us an email (that link's on the right as well). We also offer a dandy extended stay rate for traveling medical professionals and others who need a home away from home, and we have a couple's rate when only one bedroom is used. Just some of the reasons you'll love Sow's Ear: Great fishing access, hot tub overlooking the Trinity River, end of the road quiet. Fantastic covered porch with nice seating, a bit of river view, room to dry waders and gear and maybe enjoy a glass of wine. Dog-friendly and no minimum stay. Also, this place has a great vibe. Some cabins are advertised as being on the river, but when you get here, you'll be hard pressed to find it. We're very clear in stating Sow's Ear is one cabin up from the river. You have a better view of it, access to it and sounds from it than some of those cabins advertised as being on it. Our own cabin is one of the closest ones to the river on the entire Trinity and since our guests have full use of our cabin's riverfront patio, hot tub and more, as well as someone to borrow stuff like tape, or a wrench, or a compressor, or flour (not to mention a dead battery jump!), they win all the way around. Sow's Ear is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cabin that is priced for up to 6 guests, but it's quite popular for couples, so we have special rates for a party of two using one bed (call 530.778.3444 for those rates). We will consider a few guests over 6, but try to keep numbers down to keep our septic system happy. If approved, additional guests over a total of six are $15.75 each per night. You can watch cable TV, and a really good selection of books awaits you. Sow's Ear has Wi-Fi. Guests get free introductory lessons on SUPs (stand-up paddle boards). We're on a wide and calm stretch of the river that's perfect for learning this sport. There is excellent hiking right outside your door, and who doesn't enjoy watching the deer that wander through the yard daily? Sow's Ear has a wood stove (wood provided), central heating and air-conditioning, a full laundry (supplies provided) and a well-stocked kitchen. It is just 5 minutes or so off 299, but end-of-the-road quiet, and very easy to reach on fully paved roads. It's our only cabin of five that is not directly on the Trinity River, but it's less than a minute's walk down the drive and you have full use of our 600+ feet of riverfront, complete with hammock, chairs, fire pit, more BBQs, a shaded dining set AND that hot tub overlooking the river. Each bedroom is unique and tastefully furnished. The master bedroom, Honeysuckle, has a custom queen log bed and a sliding door to the large covered porch. The Rustic has a double size log bed and a slider to the river porch. You can see and hear the river from the living room, porch and the Rustic and Honeysuckle bedrooms. The Cedar Sanctuary room that looks out on the rosemary garden is completely paneled in cedar tongue & groove. Bringing your own boat(s)? Bucktail put-in is across the river and up a few hundred yards. Sow's Ear has proven to be a very popular cabin for fishers, who can tie their boats off to the trees overnight. Their catarafts are safe on the river bank, or on our lawn. Remember: Our shoreline is your shoreline. You can dine overlooking the river, lounge in the hammocks, or fish from the shore. KAYAK~SUP~RAFT! Bring tubes or smaller rafts for playing in front of our cabin. Spring-Fall: We offer top notch sit-on-top kayak lessons, guided trips and rentals; guided raft trips and rentals; and stand-up paddleboard (SUP) demos, lessons and rentals. Our kayak lessons and guided river trips are exceptional. Check out our bio to see why. We are very good at teaching and guiding, never pushing you beyond your comfort zone, yet showing you how to expand it with our help. Fly fishers love our cabins. Michael Caranci of The Fly Shop in Redding says of thems: 'For sheer seclusion, access, and cozy, comfortable accommodations, the cabins at the Trinity River Adventure Inn are certainly among the best.' If you're looking for comfort, peace and very reasonable rates, you're going to love Sow's Ear.
