The SpaceSometimes you just need to get away to somewhere beautiful to unwind, relax & refresh. Peacefully set in the hills of Kentucky this log house on 100 acres of serene farm land is such a place. Hike, fish, visit places of interest or just relax and enjoy the views. If you would like to travel with your horses there are six 12x12 stalls in the barn with water and electric, and some great trails to ride either on the farm or about a mile up the road. Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as wanted. I hope to greet you on arrival, and will be available to answer any of your questions or needs during your stay.     Welcome to the 2016 season on Lake Cumberland. As the owners of Look-Out Lodge (LOL) we take personal pride in making sure each guest has a memorable and relaxing stay. And the reviews from our past guests from other travel sites hopefully show that we are sincere about the quality of our property being offered. We still have some open dates for this year's fall foliage season which is fast approaching. So be sure you inquire and book early for the dates you want to avoid loosing out. Look-Out Lodge is a true lake front property. Unlike many other rental properties that boast "lake front and water views" that you need to see through the trees to get a glimpse of a passing boat, that is not the case here. We have 365 days of unobstructed views of Lake Cumberland (not Cumberland River) from any of the four floors on our property. For our returning house guests you will see some noticeable additions that we have made in 2015 and 2016 to make LOL a more relaxing and entertaining stay for you and your guests. This includes a new 42 inch Smart WIFI high definition flat screen with full surround sound stereo system with Bluetooth in the Great Room that can be paired with your I-Phone or any wireless device. It is also perfect for watching sports or Netflix, which is all included. We also added four new adjustable bar stools for the 3rd floor kitchen as well as new solid surface counter tops for the kitchen and bar area. Also new was the addition of a 6 person high end outdoor dining table with swivel chairs to accommodate the larger groups. Although we limit our house guests to 12 persons in total, we now have outdoor dining seating on the third floor balcony that can accommodate up to 14 people at one time. And that's just on the 3rd floor deck alone. Other requests from guests recently was for a Kureig coffee maker for the kitchen and hair dryers for each bathroom. Well, we heard you and added them as well. Now, a word to the wise. Look for me elsewhere. The service fees from this site are just to high for anyone to pay. So do yourself a favor and simply do a search for our name "Look-Out Lodge on Lake Cumberland" and book elsewhere. Our property is located in a secluded gated community with paved roads and underground utilities, there are only 2 homes in this beautifully landscaped retreat of 53 home sites. The lodge is a four story custom built log and stone home which has a total of 5,275 sq. ft. of indoor living space and over 2,800 sq. ft. of wrap around porches on both the 2nd and 3rd floor. There is an additional court yard on the 1st level facing the lake with another private tiled patio with outdoor dining table and four dining room swivel chairs with accessed through the recreation room or by the outdoor stair case. The lake views from this patio are also breath taking. Just e-mail us your request for additional photos and we would love to share them to you. We will respond to each e-mail inquiry within 12 hours or less as you can not contact us by phone on this site. As owners, we are very actively involved in the management of Look-Out Lodge and love to interact with potential guests and answer any questions they may have. The lodge is fully equipped with more than the average rental property because it is also our vacation home. We have decorated each of the many rooms individually with fine detail to give a unique perspective to this log home. Each of the five bedrooms have engraved suite names above the entrances to give it that "personal touch." This also allows guests to pick their own bedrooms in advance of arriving to avoid who's sleeping where. Each year there are new features added to the lodge that repeat house guests will notice. And the views of the lake and the surrounding vistas from the decks will keep you outside more than inside. You can see for miles all around. And don't worry if the weather is bad. All of the balconies are fully covered so you can sit back, relax and enjoy no matter what the weather brings. There is casual seating all along the main 3rd floor deck as well as a 4 person bar height table and swivel chairs for guests to enjoy the views and the wildlife. We have cushioned swivel rockers; wooden rocking chairs and two double seated gliders facing the front yard to welcome guests as they arrive. These chairs were all hand crafted by the local Amish community. There is also a double person hammock on a Viking stand on the main deck that has been a real hit with our guests. Whether your dining out, having drinks or just relaxing the outdoor balconies are perfect any time of the day or night. Especially for bird, wild life and boat watching. There is an abundance of wild life in this community of only two homes. You will see a vast variety of visiting birds come by to enjoy the free food provided to them daily. Watch the seasonal humming birds gather around the many feeders that are just feet away, as you're having your morning coffee. Look-Out Lodge has a total of 5 bedrooms; 4 1/2 bathrooms; 2 kitchens; great room and dining room on the main floor (3rd floor); a second living room & dining room on the 2nd floor as well as the recreation and game room on the 1st floor. The game and recreation room has 18 inch floor tile and accent area rugs; new leather pit group and much more. The circular drive way has also been tiled to give it a great formal curb appeal. Most of our returning guests have really enjoyed the upgrades and the additions. Please note that we have a limit of 12-guests in total. This includes ALL children. This recreation and game room is very well appointed for family fun. This is a 750 square foot room with 12 foot tall ceiling which is accented with 12 inch crown molding throughout along with two large picture windows which face Lake Cumberland. The game room is equipped with a standard 4X8 pool table; professional ping pong table; 7 foot air hockey table; professional darts; foosball and lounge area with a leather pit group; coffee table with a 42 inch wall mounted LED flat screen 'Smart' TV (WIFI included) and sound bar and DirecTV provided. This recreation room leads to the out-door patio area which has a 4 person outdoor dining table and swivel chairs which also faces the lake. Note: The recreation room is only available to a full house rental. Look Out Lodge was constructed in January of 2007 by the current owners which is a full log home with stone accents on the exterior. The lodge has a 27 foot tall stone wood burning fireplace in the Great Room and floor to ceiling glass windows facing the lake. The open floor plan of the Great Room into the dining and kitchen area are perfect for families getting together. The property is located in a private gated and secured community with paved streets though out along with all underground utilities. This community also has security surveillance cameras to insure safety during your stay, giving you that peace of mind. The community is surrounded by woods on one side and Lake Cumberland on the other. Look Out Lodge sits high on a bluff in the back end of a cul-de-sac which overlooks Lake Cumberland on the Wolf Creek section adjacent to where the original Alligator I Marina was located and across from Jabez Beach. There is no lake access from LOL, unless you are an experienced hiker or climber. This is the only home on this cul-de-sac which gives you complete privacy and seclusion, not to mention unlimited parking. The lodge also has a circular tiled drive-way and paver designed entrance, giving you a truly beautiful curb side appeal as you or your guests arrive. LOL is fully landscaped with five separate retaining walls to the west and one major retaining wall to the south, each with it's own landscaping character of colorful flowers, roses and shrubs which is managed by a local professional landscaper. We promise..... that you will not be disappointed as you and your guests arrive. This property is located 20 minutes from Russell Springs, Kentucky to the southeast. Look Out Lodge is located in a gated community at the end of Gosser Ridge Road. This home faces Jabez beach to the south and where Alligator I Marina was once located before moving in 2009. There is a very large boat ramp for public use at this location and can be seen from our community. The next closest town is Somerset which is a 30-minute drive from this property. The closest grocery store is Kroger which is in Russell Springs, KY on Hwy 127. LOL views consists of 220 degrees of Lake Cumberland as wells as the mountain vistas all around. We have one of the best lake and mountain view on Lake Cumberland. Note: There is no lake access.

It is secluded and peaceful but does share outside amenities with the other unit and the main house. Also, while the covered balcony faces the lake, you are at the top of the hill so you can only see the lake from Fall (when the leaves start to fall until they grow back). Guest AccessYou are welcome to use our hot tub, kayaks, canoe, fire pit and Green Egg grill. There are also books, board games and a variety of DVDs. While the pictures show a motor boat we are sorry, but the liability is too great to rent this out, however, if we are there, we would love to take you out to tour the lake or go tubing. Interaction with GuestsWhile we are happy to include you if we are cooking out, this is not a bed and breakfast. We provide linens, towels and basics but We will not interrupt your morning to make your bed or hang your towels up. If we are on the property we are at your disposal, however if you don't need us, we will stay out of your way. If you want company, come knock on the door of the main house, we'd love to hang out but we don't expect you to include us in your activities. Please keep in mind the amenities of the property are shared between all of the buildings. Depending on your arrival dates, we may not be around so you could have the place to yourself. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is quiet and the people are friendly. The traffic on the lake is boaters from the private club and fisherman. All have been pleasant. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation. Other Things to NoteThe trail to the dock from the cottages is steep and it's a path through the woods, so please bring appropriate shoes and perhaps a beach bag to get items down to the dock so your hands are available for balance. We are about a mile off the main drag. During the warmer months the city offers mini golf, water park, drive in movies, several golf courses, Cumberland Falls and Daniel Boone National Forest are always available and there is a huge selection of restaurants.

Between March and August the water level will drop about 20 feet, then it will spend the other months raising back up so the incline after the main path is very much like a medium hiking trail. We are about a mile off the main drag. During the warmer months the city offers mini golf, a water park, drive in movies, several golf courses, Cumberland Falls and Daniel Boone National Forest are always available and there is a huge selection of restaurants. The 4th Saturday of each month from April to October there is a car show and event in the center of town. This property is on a septic system so please throw waste in the trash and not down the drain. Also please only flush human waste and TP. There is also ample parking in front of the cottage.

    small 1 bedroom, sleeps up to 4 - has queen size bed and full size fold out couch, furnished with washer/dryer, kitchen has oven/stove microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, bath has full tub/shower. look out the windows and see deer , cattle and horses grazing in the grass fields, 5 minutes from three boat ramps on Lake Cumberland, 2 miles from downtown Somerset. if you are looking for a quiet get away with a warm inviting environment you have found it. just remodeled 6/2016. unit is completely detached from our home - complete privacy, parking for two vehicles.

    If you have home owners insurance that will cover vacation rentals I will remove the fee for property damages. Attach a copy of your current insurance policy and I will remove the fee. Thank you. Front porch made by hand with cedar. Nice place for coffee and WiFi connections outside to do work, very relaxing peaceful place. The creek out back just over the hill is a place you can meditate,fish,wade in etc. My great grand kids do all of those things when they come on occasion. This is truly a one of a kind property that we made to share with others. We take pride in the fact that the house is expertly cleaned and always has been cared for .
