Welcome to Pine Point Cabin. Located in central Maine on 5 wooded acres. This rustic cottage remains much as it was more than 100 years ago when it was first built. Loons will lull you to sleep with their haunting calls or maybe it’s the rhythm of water pushing against rocks that will be the last thing you hear before nodding off. Wake to the brilliantly-bright, early-morning sunrises or sleep until noon - as you please. Star filled nights end days that are dotted with ospreys, song birds and even soaring bald eagles. This is nature at its finest. Whether you choose to be an observer or participant, the hope is that you find rest, serenity and a part of yourself that welcomes being nurtured by nature. Pine Point is: 1 hour's drive from Bangor less than an hour to the entrance to Baxter State Park, 2 hours from Bar Harbor 3.5 hours from Portland, ME 5 hours from Boston about an hour to the Canadian border 5-hour drive to Nova Scotia Day trips to the coast of Maine, Mt. Katahdin or into Canada are doable from this central location. Pine Point has been in the Webster family since 1942. Only 7 weeks will be rented in the 2014 season.

The NeighborhoodWe have a little over 40 acres here, located on a private island formed by the Penobscot River and Merrill Brook, which is a run around from the Penobscot. The island is approximately 280 acres. Besides our place with 4 cabins there are only 4 other residents on this island. There is a lot of wilderness waterway with small islands to explore. The brook varies in width and the current is slow. The brook is wide for a mile or two north of our place and then becomes more narrow with interesting little islands to poke around. Wildlife sitings of moose, deer, beaver, hawks and eagles are possible. It's heaven to explore; true wild and wonderful northern Maine water! Kayaker/canoers and fishing heaven! Excellent bass, pickerel and panfish fishing. Bring your kayak, canoe and motor boat. One mile from the public boat launch and your boat can stay at your private dock. Great hiking at Baxter St Pk, Katahdin Iron Works, Borestone Mountain, Acadia Nat Pk, etc... Other Things to NoteSmoking outside of the cabin is ok. Drunken disorderly behavior is not appreciated. We're a quiet, respectful outdoors community. Join us in our peaceful appreciation of this glorious wild waterway. This is a brook/river, not a lake ;-) wide (as seen in the lead photo) and excellent for swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and boating!

Great fall, summer, and spring vacation destination. Silver Lake is a spring fed lake located in the small rural town of Lee. The cottage is tucked into a quiet cove of the lake and is surrounded by hills. Local mixed deciduous forests provide colorful fall foliage viewing mid-September to mid-October. For those of you looking for a place to spend your days relaxing at the lake floating on a tube, paddling a canoe, sailing, swimming, fishing, or hanging out on the dock and deck, this is the place for you. For those who wish to explore northern natural areas in the middle of a working forest, there are hundreds of miles of gravel logging roads and structured ATV trails to explore by auto, mountain bike, or ATV. For those who delight in taking day excursions to places of interest, this area is central to historical landmarks and recreational sites such as the Black Mansion and Kings Landing; state and national parks such as Baxter State Park, Acadia National Park, and Roosevelt Campobello International Park; the Canadian border provides exploration to the North; and there are also extensive Maine coastal regions. This area is also a popular location for hunting and fishing enthusiasts. The gin-colored waters of this spring-fed lake hold bass, pickerel, white perch, and ice out trophy brook trout. These varied species of fish support a healthy loon population. For the hunting enthusiast, there is moose hunting by lottery, bear, deer, partridge and duck hunting. There is open season on coyotes year-round. WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE: Lee Post Office, Local general store, Restaurant, Hiking Mount Jefferson, Lee Historical Society with the Lee Museum housing a large collection including Civil War artifacts, a piece of the Hindenburg, a birch bark canoe, many antiques, and a horse drawn hearse and Mallet Hall Museum a restored hotel with tours by appointment and the location of public Baked Bean suppers.
