The SpaceFREE continental breakfast provided. Modern house with double glazing located in South New Brighton, 5min walk from the surf and a safe swimming beach. It also overlooks a riverside reserve. Two-minute walk from a bus stop that takes you into the city (which is around a ten minute drive). Just over an hour to a popular skifield and a good base for exploring the South Island of NZ. There is a large grocery store a five minute drive (or 20min walk), and many areas to explore. A small suburban mall is nearby, which includes restaurants, cafes and shops. There is the famous New Brighton Pier which extends into the sea for about 300m and lights up at night. We have a guest bathroom that includes gas hot water shower and toilet. We live next to a peaceful reserve that has extensive walking tracks and makes for relaxing evening strolls with fantastic sunsets. The house is relatively modern with extensive renovations approximately 5 years ago. Full insulation, a very quiet street and a proper bed mean you'll get a good nights sleep. Free on-street parking available. There is a double bed in the main bedroom and a single bed for a third guest in the other bedroom (or if separate beds are needed - please let us know when you book, extra charge applies). A clean and hygienic home is very important to us and we make every effort to make sure your accommodation is up to a high standard. We also provide guests with our top ten things to do in Christchurch - we've lived here for over 20 years so we know a few places to go! We look forward to welcoming you soon! Guest AccessKitchen & Laundry can be used but please arrange with us first. Interaction with GuestsYou might not see much of us since we both have busy schedules but we love to chat if we get the chance! The NeighborhoodIts a relaxed neighborhood with plenty of scenic areas to explore, a beach that goes for miles and is popular with joggers and walkers. Plenty of bird life too. The SpaceI HAVE MOVED FROM THIS HOUSE ON 11th/4/12... NEW CHCH ADDRESS TO COME. ********************************************************************************************** Stay a day or stay for weeks or even months.. The price is lower so you can get out and spend more on the things you really want to do instead of spending it all on accommodation. I have a fully furnished 3 bdm home, with two rooms available for guests, 1 queen, 1 single (or by arrangment for 2 couples) Home cooked bread, traditional kiwi roasts, or cook something from your own country and surprise everyone else :) Laze in the sunny back yard enjoying the peace and quiet regardless of a busy city area and if its still summer.. Relax in the pool. Warm and friendly environment where you can just chill out and feel like you're at home but miles away. All mod cons, comfortable beds, cute cat that just makes you smile and a fun hostess that enjoys getting out showing guests around or just chilling with a glass of wine with others who enjoy the same. I like having guests in my home, and have had upto 12 people here at one time.. It's big and roomy and light so if you just want to chill reading a book, you wont strain your eyes. Wether it's one guest or 3, I will help your stay to be pleasant and relaxing before you go exploring the rest of the country :) Close to city centre yet far enough from all the danger zones (refer to Chch NZ Earthquakes 2010 an 2011) my house is strong and comfortable, very warm and friendly... And still standing regardless of the twisting it’s had to endure. Non smokers preferred. Although my house is attached to block of flats, it is surprisingly larger than realised.. Many International travelers have stayed and love it here, often returning before leaving the country. I am also a member of couchsurfing with good international references. Bookings on short notice will have extra fee :)

The SpaceOur house is an old brick gem with a bit of renovation work she will be a dream however at the moment we are awaiting earthquake repairs for some cracks in our plaster work so our renovation dreams have been temporarily halted. We have a large backyard and a small vegetable garden which may or may not have vegetables depending on what time of the year it is and we have off street parking. The kitchen is old fashioned but it does the trick and guests are welcome to help themselves to tea and coffee day or night. I have a fire which heats the entire house during winter and electric blankets on the beds if guests feel the need, I can also provide extra blankets. Guest AccessThere is free wifi which you can use at your leisure throughout the house, it doesn't work so well outside. You will share the bathroom with myself and my partner Andrew however he sometimes works away so you may only be sharing with me - I also have a second shower and toilet in my laundry so if there are any problems I can shower there. I am happy for the kitchen to be used for cooking if you wish to cook please just tidy up after use & I have a washing machine which is able to be used by the guests if needed. Interaction with GuestsSome people are chatty and some are not so I am happy to do whatever you like, I work fulltime so I may not always be around but I can be contacted anytime if needed. The NeighborhoodWe live in Shirley a short 5 minute stroll to the Palms shopping mall which has cafes, restaurants, a post office, shopping facilities and a movie theatre plus many more amenities. I can give advice about some of my favourite places in Christchurch and many other cities in the south island. Getting AroundThere is a bus route a 5 minute walk from my house, I also have off street parking if you have a car or the car can be parked on the street safely overnight. If you happen to arrive on one of my days off I can collect you from the airport and/or drop you off, please just ask. Other Things to NoteI have three cats and three chickens, my chooks are kept in an enclosure when we are working and while we are home we let the girls out to free range the garden. If you do not like chickens please let me know and I can keep them in the enclosure during your stay. My cats come and go at all times of the day or night, they are nosey so might jump on your bed for a pat or to say hi if this is a problem I suggest staying elsewhere or closing your bedroom door. We had a new addition to the family in September of this year, our first child so we have a little one in the house which may change your mind on wanting to stay at our house.

The SpaceThe studio The space is a studio situated in the back garden of our family home on a very quiet street. There is parking available on the street. The space is approximately 4m x 2m. The room has a queen sized bed. We can zip the queen apart to make two singles. We also have a portacot that we can put in the room if you have an infant. The use of thick curtains and blackout blinds should mean you are able to sleep in! There is no traffic noise at all on our street. Hot drinks, a hair dryer, a clothes rack and toiletries are available in the room. If you need to iron, let us know and we will put an iron and ironing board out in the studio. Internet and entertainment There is a router in the studio and we have high speed internet connection. We also have unlimited data. There is a television connected to FreeView which provides a wide range of channels. There is also a DVD player with a large range of DVDs. There is a stereo with a range of CDs. There is also a small bookcase containing books that you are welcome to take away with you or you can swap a book if you have one you no longer want to keep. Breakfast and food preparation Breakfast is available in the studio. We have a small fridge in the room containing milk, juice, Olivani spread, jams, fruit, yogurt and a jug of water. There is a wide range of breakfast cereals and toast bread available in the studio. A microwave allows you to cook or reheat food and there is a toaster and electric jug. We request that food is not consumed in or on the bed. There is a table inside the studio and another table outside where you can sit and enjoy breakfast. There are no other cooking facilities available in the studio and our kitchen is not available for food preparation. We ask that dishes are rinsed in our kitchen and left on our kitchen bench. Bathroom facilities Shared bathroom facilities are in the main house and not in the studio. Guests are welcome to shower once a day and we provide towels and face cloths. Please be considerate with the length of your shower as we are a family of four and we all share the same hot water cylinder. Children We are happy to host people travelling with children. Babies (under 2 yrs) are welcome to stay for free and we have a portacot you can use. We ask that babies don't sleep in the bed. There is a trampoline in the back garden that any children staying are very welcome to use. Guest AccessGuests will be given a key to the studio to come and go as they please and will get keys to the house to access shared bathroom facilities if we are out. There are no bathroom facilities in the studio. We have just changed the front door lock so the key now works beautifully! We are both teaching so there may be no one home during the day until after 6pm. However, we will let you know after receiving your booking how to find the keys so you can let yourself in and will see you on our return! During the weekend, guests will be able to check in around lunchtime. Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy talking to new people and will fill you in on what you need to know about the local area. We will also give you your own space so that you can relax! The NeighborhoodLinwood is one of the oldest areas in Christchurch. The area has a real mix of lovely old weatherboard houses in various states of repair and flats. It is not a high socioeconomic area. Our street is super quiet and we have lovely neighbours. It is also very close to Woodham Park which is a favourite of ours. Overall, we love the diversity of the area. It is close to the central city and the beaches on the East coast. Getting AroundThere is no off street parking available at the house but there is plenty of space on the roadside. There are no direct buses to get here from the airport (you need to go to the central station and change to the Yellow Line) so we recommend catching a shuttle van which will should cost around $34 for one person or $37 for two. See the Super Shuttle website for details and to book. The closest bus stop is about a five minute walk away and from there it is a 10 minute bus ride to the central city bus exchange (also the site of the ReStart Mall). We have bus timetables available in the studio. We are approximately 3km away from the city centre which should take around 45 minutes to walk. Other Things to NoteGuests are welcome to do a load of washing for free but we would ask for $2 if you put a load in the dryer. We are a gay-friendly household and are happy to host gay couples in the studio.

The SpaceMy home in Southshore, Christchurch, is named Waiatarua , the Maori word for Song of two Waters. Waiata is song and Rua is two. Wai is water. It is aptly named because it sits on a Spit, between the Avon Estuary a wetland bird sanctuary and the Pacific Ocean. The song of the ocean is constantly in the background. I offer a double room with a queen sized bed and semi ensuite i.e ( a shower and handbasin), Two separate WC's, one upstairs and one down. The Continental Breakfast is self service, cereals, toast, fruit, juice.Cook some eggs if you wish. Tea and coffee are available anytime. The two sunny living areas and kitchen are upstairs Downstairs are four bedrooms and a small lounge which opens out to a sunny courtyard/bbq area. Outside you have a choice of private sitting areas ,on the upstairs and downstairs decks ,or in the garden and paved bbq area. Buses run regularly into the city from across the road ,a ride which takes 30-40 mins. The drive from the airport by car takes 20-35 mins and I am happy to do drop offs or pick ups for NZ$40 plus whatever airport parking charges are accrued. Off street and On street parking options. Locally there are plenty of lovely walks to enjoy. I also have a small kayak available. The nearest suburban town centre New Brighton ,10 mins away by bus, has an outdoor seaside Mall with supermarket ,banks ,restaurants etc and the best library in Christchurch with comfortable seating overlooking the sea and Pier.

We love to hear Travellers’ tales, and may be able to offer one or two of our own. We are very fortunate that airbnb sends only the BEST GUESTS to See for Miles. We have been delighted to get to know them all. There are two family cats who make themselves fairly scarce when visitors are here. There are cafes and restaurants within walking distance, and a good uphill walk home to enjoy. Buses leave for the City Centre from outside the property, every half-hour, and back of course. We are high on the hill in a residential neighbourhood, with safe street parking outside.
