Across the courtyard are The Servants' Quarters: originally a Welsh long house dating from the 17th Century, we've sympathetically restored and extended it into a two bedroom cottage. The large living room of the cottage, with its wood-burning stove and lime washed walls opens up to a bright, modern dining room where you can take in the landscape through traditional French doors. Here you'll also find a fully equipped kitchen and family bathroom. Climbing the original wooden staircase you'll find the master king bedroom complete with pegged oak beams and traditional fireplace. Next door is a convenient twin room and upstairs toilet. However, the cottage is equipped with everything you'd expect from a modern home: a 32" TV, DVD player, stereo and a library of books, games and films. Located on a 90 acre working family farm, Ty Chwarel has recently been completed to an exceptional standard. This stunning, spacious property provides an ideal location whether it be for a relaxing break in the Welsh Countryside, or an action packed adventure along the Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire coast. The open-plan kitchen-lounge has a full height ceiling with the original a-frames adding to the building's character. The large open-plan kitchen and lounge area provides the ideal setting for guests to relax whether it be on the three, three seater italian leather sofas, the breakfast island or around the custom - 8 person - oak dining table. The luxury bathrooms and custom-made Oak sleigh beds provide all the comforts needed to ensure an enjoyable stay. The two bathrooms also retain bluetooth mirrors to allow you to enjoy your favourite music whilst having a soak in the tub. All bed linens are provided along with Egyptian Cotton towels. Externally, two lit-decking areas area available along with a secure rear garden which retains a large picnic bench. A BBQ is also available on request. On arrival, guests are provided with tea, coffee and milk as well as a complimentary bottle of wine. Local convenience shops can be found in St Clears, or major supermarkets in Carmarthen. St. Clears and Narbeth have some lovely local producer shops which we can point guests to. If guests want to visit local towns during the course of their stay (and enjoy some of the local ales) we have a preferential rate with a local taxi firm. We also have preferential rates with a local health spa located approximately two miles from Ty Chwarel. The original building was built in circa 1900 and up until 2012 was actively used to rear cattle. Animals can often be seen from the barn in the adjoining fields or cow shed (and with a little patience, will likely come up to the garden fence). Our three horses, Chloe, Honey and Casper are also very inquisitive and if guests are in the garden area, they will probably come over for a pat. The bespoke barn conversion runs off an eco-friendly biomass heating system with the timber provided direct from the main farm. The farm also retains a private water supply. The barn is highly insulated and is very energy efficient which formed a key part of its development. Ty Chwarel is ideally located to explore west Wales, within easy reach of the coast and inland tourist attractions. We have a wide selection of pamphlets covering the local area in the barn however if you have a particular interest, let us know and we can advise you on areas you may like to explore, or where to find the best attractions. Located on the Carmarthenshire/ Pembrokeshire border, it provides the ideal base to explore the local towns or coastal attractions which Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and the Gower has to offer. "A stunning barn conversion, in a such a peaceful setting... we just didn't want to leave''

Originally a Welsh long house dating from the 17th Century, this two bedroom cottage became "The Servants' Quarters" to the farmhouse in the 19th Century. After sympathetically restoring and extending this old stone cottage, we're proud to offer it for your next getaway. The cottage is set in our five acres of grounds which boast panoramic views reaching out to the coast. While the cottage has its own private garden and patio area, it also has access to our meadows, woodlands and gardens which feature climbing frames and play equipment. Across the courtyard, the newly converted "The Cow Shed" sleeps up to 9 people and can be booked in combination with The Servants' Quarters to cater for up to 14 guests. Set in five acres of woodland and meadow, this 17 century cottage has been lovingly restored for your next break. We also have a 9 guest cottage on our property to allow groups of up to 14 in great comfort.

Garden with lawn on lower level and terraced gardens above which are in process of restoration! Car essential. Parking for one car outside on lane, but more available nearby. No smoking and sorry no dogs. When we bought Maesteg cottage in 2009 it was in need of a lot of love and updating. We've endeavoured to take it back to a simple but comfortable country cottage with some exposed stone walls and tasteful colours and styling to suit a Welsh vernacular cottage of the early 19th century. The moment we saw the cottage, we fell in love with it and its beautiful location - a real 'chocolate box' cottage. The garden has in the past been dearly loved, but has become quite overgrown in recent years. As a 2011 Chelsea Gold medal winning garden designer, I will spend time over the next few years revamping the garden. You will find wonderful peace and quiet at our cottage (which also means that there is no mobile phone reception - but we do have a landline for emergencies). The lane outside is pretty quiet, mostly the sounds that you hear at the cottage come from birds in the trees and hedges and the sound of the nearby river. Guest AccessOur cottage is semi detached. There are a few other cottages nearby, up and down the valley. The NeighborhoodAs one of our reviewers said, 'In the middle of nowhere, but close to everywhere' The house is positioned in a stunning countryside location but it's so easy to get to the Brecon Beacons to the East, the coast to the south and the coast to the west, as well as Carmarthen for all your shopping needs. When booking please be aware that the nearest shops and pubs are a few miles away. The cottage is in a really rural location, but that's one of the things we love about it. Getting AroundYou will need a car! Nearest grocery store is the Co-op in St Clears, (10mins) or for a larger choice, Tesco in Carmarthen (15mins). Fish and Chips are available in St Clears as well as Chinese and Indian although we've never tried the last two. The wonderful restaurant The Cors is in Laugharne only open on Thursday – Saturday and you would have to book. There are restaurants in Carmarthen and Laugharne as well as very ordinary pub food locations in Bancyfelin and along the A40. Beaches at Llansteffan, Amroth, Laugharne and Pendine twenty mins to half an hour.

There is a great walk to Llanwinio church following in the footsteps of St Gwinio on a three mile trail on an ancient (1500 years old) road nearby. Or you can just relax, read, take a walk or watch the wildlife. This is a great site for bird-watching. Getting AroundIt is best to have your own transport as we are located out in the country. Having said that, the train or National Express Coach will bring you to Carmarthen train or bus station. From the bus station, the 225 (3 buses a day in each direction) takes you to the crossroads (ask for Groesfordd) on the main road (B4299) which is a 20- minute walk from our gate. We can however pick you up from Groesfordd (or if push comes to shove from Carmarthen but we will need a petrol donation). A taxi from the station to our door would cost £30 or thereabouts. There is an Enterprise Car Rental in Carmarthen for those who want travel flexibility when they get here. Other Things to NoteJudy is fluent in Swahili. Stephen has some knowledge of French. There is no need for pre-approval. You can instant-book up to 9pm on your day of arrival.

There are good restaurants locally and in Carmarthen which also has Vue cinema, Costa Coffee, Frankie & Benny's etc. We are central to the many beautiful beaches in Carmarthenshire, on Cardigan Bay and the north, south and west Pembrokeshire Coast. There are castles and heritage sites and many activity centres.
