Pamilacan Pamilacan is a small coral island off the southern coast of Bohol province ( which is also another island ) . It can be reached by means of a 1 Hr boat ride starting from the coast of Bohol island or from the coast of Panglao. It is an island for the adventurous and for nature lovers . Being in Pamilcan you are in a different world and it gives you a sense of peace the moment you set in . It is mainly a fishing village but many tourists come to visit to relax in the isolation ; go snorkeling ; dolphin watching or Just swim. You can walk around the island in less than an (URL HIDDEN) half of the circumference of the island is surrounded by a coral reef . This is the side facing the Mindanao sea and facing the west part of Bohol island. The Chasen's cottage and Imelda cottage is on this side . The other side of the island faces Panglao island and part of Mindanao -(, Siquejor ). This is where the public beach ; the island chapel ; most tourist cottages ; the marine sanctuary and the Coral garden are found . The island offers very Spartan utilities . Electricity is only from 4pm to -12 midnight. The water supply for bathing and cooking is mainly from collected rain water. Drinking water ( mineral water) is bought from the mainland ( Bohol) . During the dry months even the bathing water has to be bought by the gallon containers by boat from the mainland .Hence the need to be " circumspect " with water use . Water fro the wells are salty . What to do in the island: While in Pamilacan you can completely relax and commune with nature both day and night . In the days swim , sunbathe , snorkel or just be lazy and read a book or meditate. At night you can lay on the grass or on a garden bench and wonder at the majesty of the Milky Way, count shooting stars or just listen to the sea. The foods offered are simple fares . There are a few " canteens " or places to eat run by the tourist cottage hosts on the public beach side of the island . As most of the groceries are bought from the mainland the guests have to advise us ahead if they will eat all the meals with us or not. There are no banks or ATM machines all trading is by means of local currency and in small denominations. There are no regular boat services in and out of the island at present . Guests have to hire a boat to bring them in and take them out . These arrangements should best be made a day ahead of travel . Travel to and from thr island will depend on the seas status; time of the tides as there are no docks or jettys . The fees for boat rides for dolphin watching are different and rates vary depending upon boat size ; number of passengers and duration of trip. Dolphins watching is best done early morning ( 6:30 am - 9 am ) . At Chasens cottage ( max 2 persons) and at Imelda cottage ( 6 persons in 2 bedrooms , plus 10 on sleeping mats) .Guests can also rent a bicycle to bike around or contact to rent a motor scooter . These two cottages are isolated unlike the cottages in the area of the public beach . You will only hear the bird calls ; the rush of leaves or the sea. The cottages have resident : Gecko's ; and small House lizards . They are harmless and the Gecko in the house is a symbol of good luck . We provide mosquito nets for use at night. In the two cottages we Provide rechargeable electric fans which uses the island electricity till 12midnigjt then continues to run on battery till about 4-5 hrs . Of course as the electricity is only at night we do not have hot and cold showers. All the toilets have showers which utilize collected rainwater .
