The SpaceYour private waterfront lakeside suite offers a holiday that combines the best of both worlds; the hospitality and charm of a bed and breakfast; the experience of cottage life; and the complete privacy of your own fully equipped apartment attached to our home.
In the fall the lake quiets down... except for loons and geese preparing to go south. View the sunrise and sunsets from the dock or watch the leaves fall from your private deck. Some nights you can even hear wolves and coyotes in the distance.
The 2 kilometer “cottage” road to our home boasts every shade of gold, orange, red, auburn, and taupe with its daily changing display of brilliantly colored leaves; a photographer’s paradise every step of your autumn walk... leaves crunching underfoot and the sweet smell of wood burning fires in surrounding cottages.
Our attractive lakeside suite has a wonderful view of the lake from your private deck. There are many local trails and we have a beautiful 45 minute private cottage road walk called “the loop” through a “mini boreal forest” that passes creeks, beaver damns, a crane rookery, split rail fences, and is home to deer, bears, coyotes, wolves, rabbits, owls, turtles, frogs, a pair of bald eagles, and wildflowers!
This road and the nearby scenic Tennyson Road (part of the “classic route” of the Rideau Lakes Bicycle Tour) are great for cycling.
We are pet friendly and have two medium sized Dalmatian mixed dogs in the yard, a cat, and a small house dog. The home is a split level divided into 2 apartments. You can enter your private apartment through a common main entrance at the driveway or from your private lakeside deck.
As a guest you have complete access to the yard; docks; bonfire pit; BBQ; picnic table; lawn chairs; hammock; canoe; kayak; and forest trails.
There is a fully equipped kitchen in the apartment with a full size fridge, a toaster, toaster oven, convection oven, 2 element hot plate, small George Foreman grill; crock pot; a regular coffee maker; a Kuerig coffee maker, pots and pans, dishes, and cutlery.
Your small ocean theme bathroom has a shower and there is a fully functioning old fashioned claw foot bathtub in your bedroom for soaking before bed.
We provide complimentary coffee and tea with milk/cream and salt and pepper. We also provide fresh towels, bed linens, and toiletries. There is wifi access and use of a TV with a DVD player, a large movie selection but no satellite TV.
The docks are still in and the canoes and kayak are ready to tour the shoreline. Enjoy a peaceful, blissful, day at the lake; a spectacular fall walk in the forest, or take a road trip and tour fall in Lanark County...
I can provide you with information on short or long day trips down country roads including Autumn Artist Studio Tours, shopping, restaurants, farmers markets, antiques, apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and church suppers.
We are also 15 minutes from the soon to be famous historical town of Perth. With its attractive stone architecture, parks and waterways Perth has just hosted filming of 2 CBC miniseries and has been voted the most beautiful town in Ontario many times. It is an eclectic, artistic tourist town with access to musical and theatrical venues, craft fairs, and art shows. Guest AccessPrivate road... free parking. Interaction with GuestsGuests have the option of total privacy or as much interaction with owners as they would like. The NeighborhoodThis listing offers visitors the best of both worlds located 45 minutes from Ottawa, 15 minutes from Perth, and 20 minutes from either Carleton Place or Smiths Falls and can be a home base for endless “under an hour” day trips.
We are located at the end of a picturesque private 1.5 kilometer cottage road that winds its way through a “mini boreal forest” and is home to deer, bears, coyotes, rabbits, hawks, and owls. On summer nights you can hear the majestic call of the loons from your bed and in the winter the howl of wolves in the distance.
The property is situated on a point and provides a spectacular panoramic view of Mississippi Lake from your private suite. It is available year around with access to woodlands and lakefront for hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ice fishing, shoreline bonfires, and if conditions permit skating. It is also 45 minutes to the Rideau Canal in Ottawa; the world’s longest skating rink.
