Brixton, one of the oldest quarter of London, has everything. A great cinema in the Ritzy, some smartish bars, a range of great restaurants, as multicultural as its community, and a busy street vibe. Activities in the vicinity Theatre, Shops, Brixton Academy, Restaurants, Bars, Parks, Supermarkets such as Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury and Tesco. Check in takes place at the flat where you are greeted and given the keys - Please text or call when you are on your way to the flat, ie just about to board the public transport or jump in the taxi. The Space**** Book with confidence **** **** Just 2 minutes to all public transportation **** **** Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Tower of London, Trafalgar Square are 12min away **** **** Free Travel Cot/Crib **** SAFE, QUIET and CLEAN apartment near Clapham North underground station. This flat is on the 2nd floor with a lift access so no worries about heavy luggage. Are you a lady traveling on your own and looking for a safe reliable place to stay in London? Are you a cozy couple looking for a romantic getaway that affords you wonderful space to be yourselves at a decent price? Or do you simply need a place with ample space to sleep up to five people AND has Wi-Fi? My flat is suitable for all of the above and when you book it there is NO sharing with people you don't know ;-) There is a minimum booking period of 3 nights but I've left my settings to allow for 1 night bookings for occasional left overs between lengthier bookings. The flat can accommodate up to 5 people (2 in the Bedroom + 2 on the sofa-bed in the living room and an additional 1 on the couch). If you key in 4 guests, airbnb will give a quote for all the 4 people. For e.g. 4 friends staying for a week in Sep 2013 would be under $50 per person per night! But if you are a couple then the price is under $150 a night for both of you! This is a very nice flat for a low price! On top of that it is even less expensive during low season months. And of-course it is more expensive during peak months of July-Aug. Please check my calendar for price! If you want to experience living in a real London neighborhood, this is one of the best area. The local shops, pubs and cafe are great (to top it up very reasonable price cafe, shops, restaurants are around as well as pricey once too). It is 5-7 minutes walk from the famous Clapham Common (Public Park) which is buzzing with life and local people all year round. It is the best place to spend a few summer afternoons. There are a couple of local council (government) leisure facilities which could be used on a pay as you go basis. They are usually a few £ for each use which includes gym, clean and indoor warm swimming pool, racket sports. TRANSPORT LINKS It is located 2 minute to underground station which can take you to central London (e.g. London Bridge, Bank, Embankment, Oxford circus and Leicester square) within 12-15 minutes. Buses and over ground trains also run frequently between my flat and all parts of London including central London. Additionally there are a couple of night buses which will bring you safely from central London if you fancy a late night out e.g. night clubs. There are a lot of grocery stores e.g Sainsbury's, Tesco and M&S all within walking distance AND few £1 shops around (you will be surprise what you can get for a £1 in those shops:-) Brixton (10 minutes walking) itself is a bit like a cool village within a large metropolis. It is a lively spot with many bars, restaurants, clubs, cinemas, cafes, markets and health food shops to name but a few. And if you value your food and the planet there is a great organic farmers market locally every Sunday! Brixton will give you a taste of the real London for those of you looking to go off the beaten tourist track into the local heart of this great city. If in doubt check out 'Brixton Village' market online and you will then know what I am talking about! It's even been written up in the New York Times. This would suit anyone traveling through London who wants to see a bit of authentic London life with its pubs, bars, people and local living, and have wicked access to the west end and all the sights. Basically this is where the real Londoners live! The flat has got everything you would need during your stay in London.

The SpaceThis is a solid 1930s-built flat decorated in a suitably retro, global traveller style. It's purpose-built, so there are no poky rooms, and it's been recently refurbished. The bedroom is simply decorated in white with some historical prints from Florence; there's a double Muji bed. The living room (lounge) has a large very comfortable sofa, where a third person can sleep, plus a wooden dining table by the window. For a fourth guest (and a small extra fee) I can provide a very comfortable airbed. The kitchen has a homely feel, with black-and-white tiled floor, thick wooden counter-tops and a gas stove. The owner is a keen cook so the cooking equipment is top notch. The bathroom is functional, with good light, a powerful shower and a bath. Decorations throughout comprise handwoven rugs, African and other masks, healthy indoor plants and the owner's own black and white prints from his travels. Plenty of lamps provide a warm, subtle ambiance. There are lots of books to browse and a stereo. No TV, though (do you need one these days with decent wi-fi?) The flat is on a 30s council estate – on which some of the flats are rented, some owned – and, although the grounds are a bit inner-city scruffy (they are soon to be entirely done up) the atmosphere is friendly. The flats themselves are very solid and well laid out (the way they used to build 'em!) and the neighbours are quiet. A big selling point of the flat its location. It's about a 15-minute walk from Brixton, one of the liveliest and most diverse parts of London. With Brixton Village – a covered market – it also has one of the widest ranges of good, affordable places to eat in the capital, in a low-key environment. There are also many buses from the flat to Brixton, where there's a Tube (metro/underground) stop and to many other parts of London. There's a mini-supermarket over the road, plus plenty of (more interesting) food stores five-10 minutes away. This is stylish inner-London living with a bit of grit. Everything: bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchen. Depending upon their time of arrival, I should be able to meet them near the flat to show them around. For stays longer than a few days, I ask guests to water the plants – or I can pop over and do it. It's diverse, lively, not snobby, a bit scruffy, central, with heaps of good places to eat and drink. Oh, and there are some huge parks nearby. Search "Lonely Plant Brixton" for a decent description. The flat is excellently placed for public transport. Many buses go down Brixton Hill, reaching the Tube station in about five to 10 minutes. There are buses in other directions all over London. I also have bike maps guests can use covering much of London. Please note that if four people stay the charge is £95 a night. Brixton isn't Hampstead or Mayfair, and the flat is an area where real people from diverse ethnic backgrounds live, so if you want to be in ultra-refined surroundings it probably won't suit you (although the inside of the flat is pretty refined!). On the other hand, if you want a slice of real London – in one of its liveliest parts – this should be a very memorable stay. Note about the parking: I can provide you with guest parking permits for the estate. It's first come, first served but people haven't previously had a problem finding a space. Towels: I will provide nice fresh towels for however many guests. Everything – bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchen – bar one smaller bedroom that is kept shut when guests stay. I will meet guests and quickly show them around ( I can meet you at Brixton Tube stop if you really think you'll get lost) then leave them to enjoy the flat. I respond quickly to texts, emails and phone if you have any queries. For longer stays I'll either need to pop around once a week or so to feed the plants or ask guests to kindly do it. The flat is in Brixton Hill, about a 15-minute walk or short bus ride from Brixton, one of the liveliest parts of London, with a tonne of great and very diverse restaurants, bars and cafes, especially the cornucopia that is Brixton Village. The area around the flat itself is quiet, with a supermarket over the road and other (more interesting) food stores nearby. There are two "genuine London pubs" (ie the increasingly few that haven't been turned into cookie cutter gastropubs) on the same road as the flat, plus a cheap men's hairdresser and all manner of things. Here's what Lonely Planet says about Brixton: The years that most shaped contemporary Brixton were the post-WWII ‘Windrush’ years, when immigrants arrived from the West Indies. (Windrush was the name of one of the leading ships that brought these immigrants to the UK.) Economic decline and hostility between the police and particularly the black community led to riots in (phone number hidden) and 1995. Although violence returned to Brixton during the London riots of August 2011, the mood today is upbeat. Soaring property prices have sent in house-hunters, and pockets of gentrification sit alongside the more run-down streets. Apart from some great restaurants and clubs, the big sights are the fantastic Brixton Village – a current south London culinary and shopping hotspot – and Brixton Market. Excellent public transport. There are many bus stops a short walk from the flat, taking you to central London and beyond. There's a Tube (Underground/metro) stop in Brixton, which is a 15 minute walk or short bus ride from the flat down Brixton Hill. There's also an overground train stop (Streatham Hill) about 10 minutes away. Note about the parking: I can provide you with guest parking permits for the estate. It's first come, first served but people haven't previously had a problem finding a space. Towels: I will provide nice fresh towels for however many guests. Heating: Always so complicated in hotels! Not here. Attached to the wall in the hallway, just to the left of the kitchen doorway, is a little control panel. Flip it open from the bottom and you'll find a little grey switch on the right. Move the switch to "auto" and the heating will come on automatically in the morning and evening; move it to "man" if you want heating there and then. Leave it at "off" if you don't need the heating. Simple! There's also a little grey heater/fan blower in the living room that you can move where you like about the flat. Guest AccessEverything – kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room – bar one additional small room kept closed to guests. Interaction with GuestsI will meet you briefly when you arrive, show you around and then leave you to it. Happy to meet people at Brixton Tube (metro, underground) and show them the way, if that's easier. The NeighborhoodBrixton is an ethnically diverse, somewhat gritty and altogether fascinating slice of real London. If you're after Hampstead gentility, you won't find it here! If, on the other hand, you want to find out what makes most of London tick, Brixton is a great introduction. You'll also, in Brixton Village (just ask people where it is), get one of the best places in the capital for diverse, affordable and independent restaurants, bars, cafes and cool little shops. There are more and more of them all the time! Here's what Lonely Planet has to say about gritty (but real) Brixton: The years that most shaped contemporary Brixton were the post-WWII ‘Windrush’ years, when immigrants arrived from the West Indies. (Windrush was the name of one of the leading ships that brought these immigrants to the UK.) Economic decline and hostility between the police and particularly the black community led to riots in (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) and 1995. Getting AroundThere are many buses to central London and beyond just around the corner from the flat and on Brixton Hill. Brixton Tube (metro/underground) station is about a 15 minute walk down Brixton HiIl. I can also provide bike maps if you are riding. Other Things to NotePlease note that if four people stay the charge is £95 a night. The SpaceThis is a large double room with an en-suite WC, double bed, free internet, hairdryer, mini fridge, and its own private entrance, in a gated mews with parking. A spare single mattress is available if you want to bring a third person: this can be arranged for an extra fee. You will have your own set of keys so that you don't have to go through the top two floors of the apartment where I live, so you can come and go as you please. There is a bathroom with a shower/bath on the top floor, which is shared with me for the duration of your stay, as this part of the property is separate to yours. NB: Please pay attention to information about bathroom access!! You are able to access the roof of the apartment building via the stairwell - it is NOT health and safety approved, however and not for those who don't like heights! The views are spectacular and you can see all the way around London. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, snacks and a mini fridge are available in the room. Guest AccessYou will have a private double room with en-suite WC and private entrance. You will have roof access if you're feeling daring. You will have shared use of the upstairs bathroom (with me). The bathroom is available every morning until eleven (or by special arrangement) I am often working or out in the evenings and therefore bathroom use is restricted to the mornings. If you need to use the bathroom at a different time for specific reasons, please discuss this with me, and if you would like to use the bathroom twice a day, this may be possible for an extra fee: please ask. You will have unlimited broadband internet access. Hairdryer, and an iron are available, together with snacks tea and coffee, fresh towels and toiletries such as soap/facial cleanser. Excellent transport links via tube to both central London, and to Gatwick, Heathrow via tube and overground rail (Clapham Junction, Waterloo, Victoria, Vauxhall all very close by). This is a private gated mews and you are welcome to park here, permit supplied. Interaction with GuestsThe room is separate, and I have a separate upstairs entrance to my part of the apartment, which includes the kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom is available at agreed times, however the kitchen is not available. Because I use a separate entrance to go in and out of the apartment, your accommodation is more or less self-contained, and as such I find guests usually get on with their visits without me, although I am happy to socialise or discuss London if you want to! The NeighborhoodI am happy to give you full information about buzzing Brixton! We have a very lively nightlife here and a culturally rich local community, with a cinema, various clubs, pubs, bars, live venues, art galleries, gyms, markets (including the infamous Brixton Village)... My only advice is that if you like the quiet life, this may not be the place for you! Getting AroundThe apartment is within easy access of both Brixton and Clapham Common. Brixton and Clapham North/Clapham Common tube stations are 5-10 minutes walk - Victoria & Northern lines. Brixton has an overground railway station with trains running to Victoria regularly. There is a bus stop right outside the property for buses: P(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) & N35. Brixton is very central in SW2, which means that taxi fares from the city centre are affordable. If you're driving the property is very close to Clapham Common, the south circular, and main roads to Croydon and Gatwick airport, as well as being very accessible to central London. Other Things to NoteBrixton is a lively, culturally rich enclave in London, and its reputation as such is widely publicised: the range of street markets, food, music, reflect this, and it is an area I would particularly recommend to young people, or adventurous people of any age in equal measure, however if you're looking for a relaxing quiet getaway you've picked the wrong place. The local area is buzzing with cultural diversity and the incumbent traits therein, including larger than life, colourful characters and scenarios on the surrounding streets... If you're easily put off by this, or are rather straight-laced/conservative, this really isn't the kind of area in which you're likely to feel comfortable, or indeed inspired, as I am!

The accommodation is comfortable and stylish with everything you need - free wifi, TV, Egyptian cotton sheets and stylish interiors. There is a private bathroom with separate bath and shower. The area is fantastic, both just to explore for itself, and with great transport links to let you explore the rest of London. There are a choice of Underground Lines, and the Tube Station is a 5 minute walk from the house. It is just a 12 minute ride to Oxford Circus for shopping or 20 minutes into the City of London for business travellers. The immediate area is a lively cosmopolitan neighbourhood with something for everyone including high street shops, Marks & Spencers, H&M, Topshop etc. A great market which is now on London's tourist map containing excellent coffee shops, and Franca Manca Pizza Restaurant - winner of UK's best cheap eats along with spices and foods from Africa and the West Indies.

Guest AccessGuests have access to the reception rooms, tropical Asian garden, kitchen. Two bedrooms each with king-size double beds, with luxury Egyptian cotton bedding. Interaction with GuestsWe are usually there to greet guests upon arrival, and love sharing local knowledge. If we are away, there is a hassle-free key pick-up procedure. The let is for the whole house* (*apart from a storage room). If you require a very late check-in we may ask if we can sleep overnight in the spare/storage room, and leave very early the following morning. If you arrive after 9pm, we may ask you to let yourself in by using the key safe. The NeighborhoodThe house is situated between the vibrant neighborhoods of Brixton and Clapham. Both high streets are a 7-11 minutes walk. Despite this area is an extremely quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle. We've lived in the area for over 25 years. We love the this part of London the bits. Its well connected to the City of London and London's West End. Hop onto Brixton tube and you can be in Oxford Street in 12 minutes! Our street is very quiet for London and offers a peaceful sanctuary in the middle of London. Despite this quietness, there is a great community feel, and we know many of the neighbours. And in the hottest summer months, the street really comes to life and you'll sometimes see people sitting out side the front of their houses chatting away to the neighbours. Clapham is great for pubs, wine bars and restaurants, but the real star of the area is the well hidden, but increasingly famous Brixton Village, with its quirky boutiques and dozens of pop-up restaurants. It's one of our favourite places in the world, where we can choose to eat authentic food from around the world: Thai, Mexican, French, Italian, BBQ, Chinese Dumplings, Spanish, Argentinian...the list is endless! Getting Around7-12 minutes walk to Brixton and Clapham North underground stations. There are also Clapham High Street & Brixton overground stations that can be handy if you are coming by train. If you are not familiar with the tube and rail network, just ask us! Other Things to NoteWe love sharing our house. We were a bit wary at first, but now we love the whole experience of sharing it and learning from guest comments. The house is very much a home and we are using the Airbnb money to keep it updated based on feedback from our guests. If you decide to book with us, I am happy to make restaurant reservations, recommend local things to do, and answer any questions you might have. Please have a look at our reviews to get a sense of our hosting style. Please note, we require guests to have phone, email, social media and Offline ID verification (Passport, Driving License or ID card). The more the better ;-). As a result our Airbnb experiences have all been relaxed, fun and worry free for both parties. We don't always have time to check verification, so please do not be offended if we ask to to add one after you have booked.

The SpaceMy apartment is a spacious two bed located on the second floor of a listed Victorian residential building dating back to the 1880's and crowned with a breathtaking roof garden. It's conveniently located bang in the middle of central Brixton, a mere two minute walk from the Underground and railway stations with links to Oxford Circus in 10 mns and to Victoria in 7 respectively. Whilst Marks & Spencers, Sainsburys and all high street amenities are within a few steps' reach, the beauty of the location is that it's comfortably fitted between both Market Row & Brixton Village and their dizzying array of foodie favourites and cocktail bars. The living room is a luminous, impressive open plan area with exposed Victorian brickwork, smooth, varnished pine floorboards and light-reflecting white walls throughout. It's furnished with a large, comfy designer sofa and a set of vintage dining table & chairs. An unusually large sized guest bedroom looks onto the courtyard, filled with light - it is equipped with a brand new designer double bed. The modern kitchen is all white glossy surfaces and top of the range fittings, with brand new washing machine, fridge/freezer etc. in immaculate condition. At the far end of the apartment are the master bedroom with its bay window and queen size bed and the bathroom, with its 5 star hotel look. All windows are fitted with double-glazing, thus ensuring peace and quiet. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to the entire flat when it is available. A sunny day shouldn't be enjoyed without spending time on the roof terrace and its plant pots, shrubs, trees and vines! Interaction with GuestsPlease note that if the apartment is available it effectively means I am out of the country, although always contactable and readily answerable! The NeighborhoodTime Out London have an online guide to Brixton and all there is to do in the neighbourhood: (website hidden) Please note that Brixton Market is made of two different parts: -Market Row is located where my building is (entrance to the left) - personal favourites include Yum-D (fantastic, authentic Thai food – bring your own wine/beer), Bukowski (US carnivore haven) -Brixton Village is located across the railway (up on Coldhabour Lane) - personal favourites include Honest Burgers (there's usually a humongous queue), The Agile Rabbit (pizzas & live music), Elephant (tasty and cheap Pakistani curry food), French & Grace (simple Mediterranean-styled food: wraps, salads and stews.- opposite Agile Rabbit) More details on the market itself: (website hidden) Good pubs in the neighbourhood include The Trinity Arms (on Trinity Gardens, off Brixton Road via Brighton Terrace: (website hidden)) with a lovely beer garden and very friendly staff on a gorgeous Regency square, The Effra Hall (beautiful old school pub with jazz bands on most nights: (website hidden)), The Effra Social (hipster joint with huge dancehall and great atmosphere: (website hidden)) Getting AroundGETTING TO THE APARTMENT: The building is easy enough to find, especially as you're likely to be coming down to Brixton by tube (Underground/Subway) From Brixton Underground station, as you exit, take a left and walk up the high street past Starbucks, H&M then KFC at the top of the street; there take a turn to the left and walk down Coldharbour Lane past Holiday Inn, the Prince Albert pub and the entrance to Market Row – you'll find my building. The entrance door to my block is past an orange coloured printing shop named 'Clearaprint', 390 is the street number and my flat is # 6 GETTING AROUND: Brixton to Victoria - on the Victoria Line: Brixton to Oxford Circus on the Victoria Line: 10 mns Brixton to London Bridge/Borough on the Northern Line: 13 mns Numerous buses (including night-time service) to Waterloo, Shoreditch, Trafagar Square etc. ARRIVAL: Eurostar: direct Underground train from King's Cross St Pancras station to Brixton, southbound. Takes about 16 minutes. from Heathrow: 1- London Underground from your terminal to Brixton station takes an average of an hour and fifteen minutes door to door. It is by far the most affordable option though it implies one change (Piccadilly line onto the Victoria Line, southbound) at Green Park. Note that it takes about an hour and fifteen minutes to get to Central London from Heathrow by Underground - that airport is soooo far out of town. 2- Heathrow Express to Paddington is unnecessarily expensive and let it be known that contrary to the advertisement, Paddington is NOT in Central London, it's properly north! Service is fast though but once you're at Paddington you must get on the subway (bakerloo line, southbound), change at Oxford Circus for the Victoria Line...all in all quite a tedious journey! 3- taxi: you need to pre book it. I use a firm call Minicabs London, I think they charge about £45? From Gatwick 1-By rail (Southern Railways): train to London Victoria, then change onto the London Underground, Victoria Line southbound to Brixton. 2- Gatwick Express is the fastest rail link between the airport and central London. Non-stop trains run to and from London Victoria every 15 minutes and take 30 minutes (35 minutes on Sundays). It is pricey: £31 return. From Stanstead: 1- by coach: Fast, frequent coaches run from Stansted to London Victoria. With fares starting at just a few pounds, this can be a really cost-effective way to travel, although not the most time effective, it can take up to an hour and a half. All services call at the airport coach station, directly opposite the terminal. 2- By train: The Stansted Express runs every 15 minutes and reaches London Liverpool Street in 47 minutes. Trains depart from Stansted Airport rail station, situated directly below the terminal. London Underground connections are (email hidden)rpool Street (Central Line) and Tottenham Hale (Victoria Line). I recommend getting a ticket to Tottenham Hale, getting off there and onto the Victoria Line direct to Brixton in 27 minutes. Other Things to NoteThe bed is of course freshly made and I leave you with plenty of towels. Further towels are available, stored in the bedroom wardrobe, where you'll also find a hair dryer, iron etc. Bed linen is über lovely Egyptian cotton! In the winter, the heating will have been left on - It is regulated by a mobile thermostat which I always leave on top of the chest of drawers. Adjust the temperature as you wish (a reasonably comfortable temperature in the master bedroom is 18-20 degrees Celsius). If you leave for extended periods of time lower the temperature so as to keep the apartment warm but without having the heating on full blast! There's toilet paper, washing machine detergent etc. in the 'larder cupboard' in the kitchen which also houses the fridge/freezer. The kitchen cabinets house all you need to make coffee, to cook etc. I usually leave my sound system out, by the sofa, if you want to play music etc.
