The SpaceThe house is set on a quiet forested river road on the upper Delaware River, just 10 miles from where the east and North branch rivers come together to form this national treasure.
The house has 2 sections; the old farmhouse with 3 bedrooms and living room and the adjoining barnhouse which is a lengthy breezeway kitchen continuing into a large open studio space called the Great Room, - perfect for yoga, meditation retreats. please email for more information. The kitchen, downstairs bathroom and the great room all have floor to ceiling west facing windows featuring river and mountain views with beautiful sunsets.
The open plan kitchen adjoins the farmhouse living room with the wood burning stove in view . The kitchen table seats up to 12 people.
The master bedroom has a king size super comfy bed. There are two double bedrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs in the old house, and another loft bedroom above the studio in the great room, this room sleeps up to 6 people.
Both bathrooms have freestanding clawfoot bath tubs, the upstairs bathroom also has a shower. There is an additional outdoor shower for use in warmer weather.
Laze, lunch or breakfast on the downstairs porch , read a book in the hammock, kick back on the upstairs porch outside the master bedroom in the evening sun, or soak up the sun on the stone patio.
There are stone steps and a stairway to the river bank where there you will find a private sunny deck. The river bank has lots of room to lay down blankets and picnic or relax. There are kayaks and life vests available for trips on the river. Swimming, kayaking, tubing or fishing in the pristine Delaware river is a a tonic for the spirit.
The area is beautiful year round. Activities include fishing, hiking, biking, tennis, swimming and kayaking, but you absolutely must return the kayaks to the deck, out of view of the river, and the lifejackets and paddles to the staircase where you found them.
The Fall is spectacular on the Delaware, it's still perfect fishing weather until end of October. Snowboarding, skiing and snowtubing, are all available in Winter with Elk mountain 45 mins away. Guest AccessThe entire house, river bank, woods and gareden are available to guests. The basement is restricted.
If you use more beds than the number of guests, you will be billed from your deposit for extra people. Thanks. The NeighborhoodThe house is situated on a quiet river road which winds up the hill just outside the village of historic Equinunk PA. which is a 10 minute walk away. The village has a great little breakfast and lunch diner in the back of Hunts general store. Close by are The post office, local bar, church, antique store and The Calder House
The walk featured in the photos is accessed just across the road from the village, while walking alongside a creek with waterfalls , you will after a short climb, arrive at a beautiful lake. Another favorite is the hike to Jensens ledges, just a short drove from the house, incredible views.
We love to shop in Callicoon , Peck's market is co-op owned and has lots of local produce. The weekend farmers market;
is a great weekend activity with local performers and events regularly scheduled in the summer season.
There are several restaurants including a vietnamese sandwich shop in Callicoon. There are bars, antique stores, a health food store, a wine and cheese shop, a beautiful old movie theatre and a brewery.
The town of Hancock is 10 miles away. Our favorite place to go there is
