The SpaceAlthough your space is half an hour's drive inland from the beach, we call it 'The Beach House' and you'll see why. It's a large, bright room separate from the main house and is decorated/inspired by the beach. Your space has a couch, Queen bed (with electric blanket), small fridge, microwave oven, toaster, heater, coffee and tea making facilities. The shared toilet/bathroom is at the back of the main house so you don't have to go through the whole house to get to it. Although The Beach House has a Queen Bed, the couch does fold down to a bed for a 3rd person for an extra $30. Be warned though, it's not as comfortable as a real bed. Guest AccessAside from the microwave oven and toaster there are no cooking facilities in 'The Beach House'. The the Preston Valley Store is just down the road for takeaways or dine in. You can also bring back the tasty local produce you've discovered on your travels. If you have any washing to do you're free to use our washing machine. There is a clothes line but no dryer. You also have access to our small library if you want to relax with a book. We have some lovely sitting areas around the house itself and you are free to roam the rest of the property to take in the magnificent views. If you do plan on going for a wander around the property during the wetter months we suggest you bring some waterproof footwear. Interaction with GuestsBecause we both work from home we'll generally be available most times. We are both very approachable so don't be afraid to ask us if you have any questions. The NeighborhoodThe Preston Valley is well know for it's fruit and vegetables, organic produce and more recently, as part of the Geographe Wine Region, for its exceptional wines. In fact there is a multi award winning winery across the road from us where you can enjoy tastings by appointment and if available. Many of the local Preston Valley's wineries also serve excellent lunches and/or taste plates. The Ferguson Valley is also close by with it's wineries and breweries. So if you enjoy your food, wine and beer you won't be disappointed. Donnybrook is only 10/15 minutes away and has a butcher, bakery, newsagent, chemist, cafes, service stations, fruit market, gift shops and an IGA supermarket with one of the best deli sections around. There are some beautiful walk trails within a short drive and no visit to the area would be complete without a trip to the world famous 'Gnomesville'. The surrounding area is also popular with both road cyclists and Mountain Bike riders, with many trails available. Lowden is not a townsite (it's a locality) but it does have a general store (about 4kms away) where you can get takeaway food, dine in meals and buy basic provisions (theres a brochure with what's available and prices in The Beach House). We're very lucky to live in such a beautiful place and are happy to give you a guided tour of the local area or further afield for an arranged fee. Getting AroundAs we live in a rural area you will need your own transport. Other Things to NoteOur property is the ideal place to stay if you're an artist, photographer or writer, just want to take some time out to relax, or want a base camp to go exploring the area.
Because this is a rural property we only have access to Telstra and Optus for mobile phone coverage and the internet. So if you don't these mobile carriers you won't get service here. Donnybrook, which is a 10-15 minute drive away, has excellent mobile coverage.
