The SpaceFully self-contained cabin with small solar power system, gas stove and fridge, log fire heater, TV and lovely hot rainwater shower (great for hair and skin). There is a double bed in the loft (wake up in the tree tops) and downstairs are 2 singles and a double sofa bed. Please note that access to the loft is via 'ladder stairs' (see photo) which are very steep and so perhaps not suitable for small children, elderly or disabled people. There's also a wood heater for winter which keeps the cabin warm and cosy, as well as having the stovetop to cook a delicious slow cook soup or your dinner if you feel inclined, instead of using the gas stove. Lowden is in the shire of Donnybrook/Balingup (we are 20km from Donnybrook town) and is 45 minutes from Bunbury and 15 minutes from the Ferguson Valley wineries. The property, Kambarang, is 100 ares of beautiful jarrah/marri bushland with views up and down the Preston Valley and has 8+ km of walk/mountain bike track (rated at blue level, however there is also a novice/kids track). Springtime provides a profusion of wildflowers including some very special orchids. The region is the fruit bowl of WA and seasonal freshly picked produce can be purchased from roadside stalls along the Preston Valley, plus wine and olive oil. May to December is absolutely beautiful away from the coast in the south west . It is lush and green and without the strong coastal winds, its lovely even when it is raining. We are above the frost line and some mornings can look down on a mist in the valley below while enjoying the colours of the sunrise. We are 8km from the Bibbulmun Track and offer a pick up/ drop off service (for a fee) to guests - and also for the Munda Biddi Mountain Bike Trail. There is a fully equipped bicycle repair shop on the property and Barrie can service or repair your bike during your stay. Please note that for long weekends we have a minimum stay requirement of 3 nights at a special price of $295 for 2 people (plus $15 per day per extra person). Or you can make your own long weekend anytime with the 3 night special rate - just contact us with your dates. Guest AccessThe cabin is very private, surrounded by forest. Interaction with GuestsOur house is 450m from the cabin. After checking all is OK after you arrive, we leave you alone, but if you want anything - including a chat - just wander up to see us. The NeighborhoodOur neighbourhood is beautiful bushland. The wider area is forest or farmland. Getting AroundNo public transport Other Things to NoteWe have a small bike repair workshop (Cycletrek) on the property, and have good quality mountain bikes for hire at a special rate for our guests of $50 each bike for the duration of your stay (for use on the Kambarang trails only). We also have a couple of kids bikes (20") that we can lend (free) if you have young kids, so tell them to pack their bike helmet! (It helps us if you let us know before you arrive if you want this service.)

We also have "Paperbark", a studio apartment for couples only, which has a lower tarrif. Both apartments are air conditioned and feature a king sized bed, reclining leather lounge, TV with metro channels, DVD & Blu-ray players, and a fully equipped kitchen. Individual private alfresco areas have a hot tub spa, outdoor dining setting and gas BBQ; "Tea Tree" also has a dry sauna. Lower nightly rates apply for "Paperbark" and for nights beyond the minimum stay period. Mumbles is located at Mumballup in the Preston Valley, a narrow ribbon of farmland following the course of the Preston River through the jarrah forests of the south west of Western Australia. At Mumballup, the valley is only a kilometre wide and used mainly for grazing sheep and cattle, with some stonefruit orchards and olive groves. This is also the place where the valley is crossed by the Bibbulmun Track, a world-class walking track which stretches nearly 1000 kilometres from Perth to Albany. The jarrah forest is protected by two National Parks and State Forests, which are laced with other trails suitable for shorter walks, and which include lakes used for water recreation. Further down the valley are vineyards and wineries, and the apple growing region of Donnybrook; the regional town of Bunbury with its port and Dolphin Discovery Centre is a 45 minute drive away at the mouth of the Preston River. Mumbles can be easily reached by car from Perth to the north (just over two hours) or from places to the south-west (eg Busselton and Margeret River) and south-east (eg Albany). It is also served by regular coach services from Perth and Bunbury.

The SpaceThis beautiful space can be used to rest and rejuvenate close to the forest and nature or be a base that you can come home to after exploring everything the Ferguson Valley has to offer. Guest AccessThe space offers a separate bedroom with luxurious queen size bed. The room has direct access to outside and to the living and dining area. There is a bunk bed also available in the living/dining area. The living and dining is quite a large room with a big comfy lounge, TV and DVD player, (the TV is only able to show movies at this stage) books and games. There is also a small kitchenette area and shared bathroom, laundry and toilet facilities. Guests are not permitted into the main area of the house. Interaction with GuestsI will always be available to help during your stay if not in person then over the phone. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is very peaceful and picturesque. We have an amazing variety of wildlife that live in close proximity to us including kangaroos, lizards, possums and birds. All of our property has either intimate or distant views of beautiful native forest. Getting AroundWe are situated on a tourist route but there is no public transport through our area. There are a variety of experiences to be had whether it be wining and dining in the local restaurants, breweries or wineries or exploring the beautiful sites through the forest. If you enjoy riding and have bikes with you the famous Munda Biddi cycling track is just down the road. We are 12 kms from the closest general store so it is advisable to make sure you have adequate food with you for your stay. Alternatively, i'm happy to provide what you need, given suitable notice, for a small service fee. Other Things to NoteI would like to advise guests that we have a family dog on the property although there are periods that she doesn't stay with us and she is very friendly and loves attention. We survive on the water we capture in our tanks and this water is very precious to us so we ask guests to have short showers and be very mindful of their water use. The TV is only available to watch DVD's. The mobile reception at the house is very weak but strangely enough is very good from the forest just up the road!!! Wifi is available however the signal is very weak from the back of the house however guests are welcome to sit on the deck where the signal is a lot stronger.

The SpaceAlthough your space is half an hour's drive inland from the beach, we call it 'The Beach House' and you'll see why. It's a large, bright room separate from the main house and is decorated/inspired by the beach. Your space has a couch, Queen bed (with electric blanket), small fridge, microwave oven, toaster, heater, coffee and tea making facilities. The shared toilet/bathroom is at the back of the main house so you don't have to go through the whole house to get to it. Although The Beach House has a Queen Bed, the couch does fold down to a bed for a 3rd person for an extra $30. Be warned though, it's not as comfortable as a real bed. Guest AccessAside from the microwave oven and toaster there are no cooking facilities in 'The Beach House'. The the Preston Valley Store is just down the road for takeaways or dine in. You can also bring back the tasty local produce you've discovered on your travels. If you have any washing to do you're free to use our washing machine. There is a clothes line but no dryer. You also have access to our small library if you want to relax with a book. We have some lovely sitting areas around the house itself and you are free to roam the rest of the property to take in the magnificent views. If you do plan on going for a wander around the property during the wetter months we suggest you bring some waterproof footwear. Interaction with GuestsBecause we both work from home we'll generally be available most times. We are both very approachable so don't be afraid to ask us if you have any questions. The NeighborhoodThe Preston Valley is well know for it's fruit and vegetables, organic produce and more recently, as part of the Geographe Wine Region, for its exceptional wines. In fact there is a multi award winning winery across the road from us where you can enjoy tastings by appointment and if available. Many of the local Preston Valley's wineries also serve excellent lunches and/or taste plates. The Ferguson Valley is also close by with it's wineries and breweries. So if you enjoy your food, wine and beer you won't be disappointed. Donnybrook is only 10/15 minutes away and has a butcher, bakery, newsagent, chemist, cafes, service stations, fruit market, gift shops and an IGA supermarket with one of the best deli sections around. There are some beautiful walk trails within a short drive and no visit to the area would be complete without a trip to the world famous 'Gnomesville'. The surrounding area is also popular with both road cyclists and Mountain Bike riders, with many trails available. Lowden is not a townsite (it's a locality) but it does have a general store (about 4kms away) where you can get takeaway food, dine in meals and buy basic provisions (theres a brochure with what's available and prices in The Beach House). We're very lucky to live in such a beautiful place and are happy to give you a guided tour of the local area or further afield for an arranged fee. Getting AroundAs we live in a rural area you will need your own transport. Other Things to NoteOur property is the ideal place to stay if you're an artist, photographer or writer, just want to take some time out to relax, or want a base camp to go exploring the area. Because this is a rural property we only have access to Telstra and Optus for mobile phone coverage and the internet. So if you don't these mobile carriers you won't get service here. Donnybrook, which is a 10-15 minute drive away, has excellent mobile coverage.
